    Good hotel in good area

    This is beautiful hotel close to many attractions like Little India, clan jetties and Armenian street. Malaysia is very hot and it’s a delight to walk through the doors after along day sightseeing. The cold air conditioning and delightful scent they have flowing through the hotel is a wonderful relief. Breakfast choices are huge ( though could do with some muesli ). They make their own croissants which are irresistible. Staff are helpful and friendly. We spent a couple hours at the pool each day which was a nice cool relief from the heat.     Living inside history with kids

    This stay felt less like a hotel and more like being inside the city itself. Stepping outside, we were immediately in the middle of everything — colorful streets, small cafes, and especially Little India nearby, which became one of our favorite spots to wander.What stayed with us most was the feeling of the building. It has this quiet charm — not polished in a modern way, but warm, layered, and full of details. Even the lobby feels like a place where past and present meet.But the real highlight for the kids was our terrace. The jacuzzi became their universe — they didn’t want to leave it at all. One morning, a huge cruise liner arrived, and watching it from the water felt surreal, almost like a scene from a movie.The pool is smaller, but tucked into the building, which makes it feel calm and private.     Strong heritage setting in city center

    The location is one of the main strengths here. Being right in the historical part of George Town, it was easy to reach Chew Jetty and Armenian Street within a short walk, and the waterfront along Weld Quay is just next to the hotel. The surroundings are dense and practical — plenty of cafes, small restaurants, and shops without needing transport.The building itself stands out. It combines restored colonial structures with a newer wing, and the internal layout feels more like a preserved complex than a standard hotel. Corridors are not typical, which adds character but also requires a bit of orientation at first.Parking worked well for us — not free, but very affordable, and convenient since we arrived by car.
