    Good To Be Back!

    rating02 Jun 2026

Stayed here many years ago and decided to stay here again!Travelling by GRAB from the airport to the hotel took about 30 minutes (with traffic, it would take longer). Check-in was swift, and the front desk staff was friendly and professional. Booked the Executive Premier room with Lounge access.Though the room was not huge, it was clean and cozy. Complimentary carbonated drinks were provided every day. With the Lounge access, free breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening cocktail were included. The Lounge is on the 30th level with a wonderful view of Georgetown and part of Butterworth. Relaxing at the lounge was a highlight of my trip! Kudos to Housekeeping and also the staff at the lounge! To me, the Hotel's location is ideal. Easy access to many shops and eateries. Many of the well-known cuisines were within walking distance! It was good to be back visiting Penang, and staying at St Giles Wembley again!

Superb Stay in the Heart of the Action

    rating21 Apr 2026

We just completed a 3-night return stay at the St Giles Wembley in Penang, and it truly hit the sweet spot for a city getaway. It balances modern comfort with a location that puts everything at your fingertips. The hotel is situated right across from KOMTAR, making navigation a breeze. We loved being able to walk to the Kimberley Street Night Market. *It is internally connected to Cititel Express Hotel which faces a back road lined with shop houses including a mini mart and a spa.Our 2 rooms - 1 Urban and 1 Premier - on the 17th floor were so lovely. The rooms were spotlessly clean, and while the beds were so comfy. Love the eco-friendly water dispensers in the hallways. *Try to ask for 20-plus floora for better views. The breakfast spread at The Wembley Café has a great variety. Quality varies across dishes. *Get both CHM and St Giles memberships as both run different promotions at different timesFor the price point, the quality of the stay is exceptional. You get 5-star convenience at a 4-star price. Definitely a contender on the next Penang trip. Tony Goh, General Manager at St. Giles Wembley Penang, responded to this review Thank you for the wonderful review and for being a returning guest! We’re so happy you loved the rooms on the 17th floor and our eco-friendly initiatives. It’s fantastic to hear that our location and value made your stay exceptional. We appreciate the shout-out for our memberships and the connection to Cititel Express—it really does make exploring George Town a breeze! We look forward to hosting you again on your next visit.

Watch out for Nickel and Diming and Sub Par Service

    rating05 Apr 2026

Watch out for Nickel and DimingApr 2026 • FriendsEvery thing was good until checking out and | left the hotel with a very sour note. I was charged for several local calls where only 1 went through and the rest were weird massages about no one picking up. The calls were made to track my luggage that didn't arrived. I was told by our group guide that I could make local calls and there were nothing indicated by the phone about charges. If they are going to be nitpicking, then I will do the same and not overlook the shortcomings. When my luggage arrived from the airline, I got a call to get my luggage. Most places would have offered to deliver my luggage as a courtesy. A lot of the food items in the breakfast buffet were lukewarm and not up to proper serving temperature when you go there at 6:30am when it opens. This is especially the almond milk and the soy milk pudding. These would have been a no-no if health department makes a visit to check the temperature. Also, when Front Office staff was given an already stamped postcard to mail out which most hotels do for their guests but the staff instead said to go somewhere else to mail it myself. I have background in hospitality management and this property definitely is not up to par for quality service standards. Tony Goh, General Manager at St. Giles Wembley Penang, responded to this review Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We truly regret to hear that your stay ended on a disappointing note, and we sincerely apologies for the inconvenience and frustration caused. Regarding your luggage, we were informed on 4 April that your bag would be arriving via Singapore Airlines on 5 April. Our team remained attentive to the situation, and once the luggage arrived at 2:31 PM on 5 April, you were promptly contacted in your room. We understand that this situation may have already caused you stress, and we appreciate your patience while waiting for its arrival. With regards to the telephone charges, we are sorry for the lack of clarity. Please allow us to clarify that charges are applied once a call is successfully connected, including instances where it reaches voicemail or an operator. That said, we acknowledge that this was not clearly communicated to you beforehand, and we understand how this could feel frustrating, especially given the circumstances of tracking your luggage. Your feedback has been taken seriously, and our team has since been reminded to ensure that such information is communicated more clearly to avoid any misunderstanding in the future. We also regret that your expectations were not met in other areas. Your comments regarding the breakfast temperature have been shared with our culinary team for immediate review, as maintaining proper food quality and safety standards is something we take very seriously. In addition, we apologies for the inconvenience caused regarding the mailing of your postcard. This is certainly not the level of service we aim to provide, and our team has been briefed again to ensure better assistance is offered to our guests in such situations. We understand your perspective, especially given your background in hospitality, and we truly value your constructive feedback as it helps us improve. Please rest assured that your comments have been shared with the relevant departments, and corrective measures have been reinforced. Once again, we sincerely apologies for the shortcomings you experienced and thank you for bringing them to our attention. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again and provide you with a much better experience.

Excellent stay in a prime location – Great for Asian breakfast lovers!

    rating04 Mar 2026

We had a very pleasant stay at the St. Giles Wembley. The location is perfect for exploring Penang, and the staff was consistently attentive and courteous. The Room & Facilities:Our room was spotless, and I particularly liked that all the light switches were clearly labeled – a small but very helpful detail! The gym was well-equipped; I used both the cross-trainer and the rowing machine, and both were in great condition. The pool isn't huge, but it provided a much-needed, refreshing escape from the Penang heat.Breakfast & Dining:The breakfast buffet offers a wide variety, though it is heavily focused on Asian cuisine. As a European traveler, I missed having a selection of cold cuts (there was only one type of sliced meat) and bacon for my eggs. However, my wife was completely satisfied and didn't miss a thing! We ended every evening at the hotel bar on the 30th floor. The views are great, and the prices are very reasonable for a hotel of this caliber.Verdict: A top-notch hotel. If you like an Asian-style breakfast, you’ll love it here. We would definitely come back! Tony Goh, General Manager at St. Giles Wembley Penang, responded to this review Thank you so much for your wonderful and detailed review! We are thrilled to hear that you and your wife had such a pleasant stay at St. Giles Wembley, Penang. It is great to know that the small details, like our labeled light switches, made a difference in your comfort. Our fitness team will also be delighted to hear that the cross-trainer and rowing machine met your standards! We are especially glad you enjoyed the 30th-floor views at the end of your evenings—it truly is one of our favorite spots to take in the Penang skyline. Regarding our breakfast, we appreciate your feedback as a European traveler. While we do lean into the vibrant local flavours of Malaysia, we are always looking for ways to enhance our international selection, including our cold cuts and breakfast meats. We hope to have an even wider variety for you to enjoy on your next visit! We look forward to welcoming you back again in the future.

    Wonderful breakfast, nice view.

    rating28 Jan 2026

The good thing is filtered water available at the hotel in every floor. Air conditionining was working at its own pace, sometimes we were cold, sometimes it was totally hot, there was no regulation. Breakfast is fantastic, try roti - very good. Tony Goh, General Manager at St. Giles Wembley Penang, responded to this review Thank you so much for your kind words! We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed our wonderful breakfast and the scenic view. It’s great to know that our Roti Canai hit the mark—it is certainly a guest favorite! We are also pleased that you found the filtered water stations on each floor convenient, as this is a key part of our sustainability efforts. However, we sincerely apologize for the issues you faced with the air conditioning. We understand how frustrating it is when the room temperature doesn't remain consistent, and "working at its own pace" is certainly not the comfort level we want for our guests. Our maintenance team has been notified to inspect the thermostats and cooling sensors in your room to ensure the climate control is responsive and accurate for future stays.
