  Terrible Experience – Avoid This Hotel 🚫We booked through a different site, but I feel like this review deserves to be everywhere as a warning to future guests.First off, the air-conditioning was weak. As locals, we know how hot and humid Malaysia is — yet the AC took forever to cool the room. The hot water was also barely warm and took a long time before we could shower comfortably. There were visible stains and mould in a few areas, which I might still overlook considering the age of the building.But the real dealbreaker? A blackout on our second night. Around 12–1 AM, one of the circuits tripped and affected some of the rooms (including ours) and the lobby. The front desk isn’t 24 hours, but they provided emergency contact numbers. We tried calling multiple times — no one ever picked up. Guests were left stranded, some pacing around looking for help, and some even left in the middle of the night to find another hotel.Eventually, a man (apparently staff from another nearby hotel who occasionally helps out here) contacted TNB, and the electricity only came back after 2 AM. Imagine being stuck in Malaysia’s heat with no AC for two hours in the middle of the night.When we checked out, we asked why the emergency numbers didn’t work. The staff admitted the number belongs to their “lady boss,” but it’s no longer in use. She even said she had already told the boss about this, but nothing was ever updated. Shockingly, I later read another review from months ago where a guest faced the same exact issue. Clearly, management doesn’t care.We also asked about compensation for the blackout, but as expected, staff brushed it off saying they don’t have authority to decide.Lessons Learned: 1. NEVER book a hotel that does not have a 24-hour front desk. 2. Always read reviews before booking, even for local trips — we made the rookie mistake of assuming it would be fine.Bottom line: this place is mismanaged and unsafe. If you value peace of mind, look elsewhere.

  Filthy with NO WIFI at all. The mattress was an unpleasant experience plus full of cockroaches running free everywhere

  Couldn’t be worse. Not recommendable. Too filthy for anyone. Mattress was in its worst state. There were cockroaches running free through the whole entire building. I booked for four nights and run away the very next day. They offer a non existent WIFI even down at reception. Never come back. Still waiting a refund or an apology letter from them.

  located at georgetown and near to the tourist attraction. recommended to all backpackers out there. Clean and cozy hostel to rest your body after a tiring day. Good facilities and friendly staff. The hostel room is neat and tidy.

  We originally booked a room in the hostel after looking at some promising pictures online. When we arrived we were greeted by a friendly staff at least. But that's all positive i can think of. The keys to the doors did not work properly. One actually broke. Then we saw the room ans were quite disgusted. Insects and dirt were in every corner, but most disgusting was that they actually were rude enough to give us a dirty bedsheet. We dont have too high standards but that was too much, even for us. We went back to the counter and asked for a full refund which we luckily received. Around the corner we found a cheaper hotel with cleaner rooms, working doors and even breakfast included. Cant recommend this place at all!

  Decent hostel with one rude receptionist

  The hostel was very decent to be a backpacker, with common area and computers. When we did the check in the receptionist was very passive and rude… which is a pity to find because as a traveler the minimum is to have people who care about your stay. The room was ok, we had tv, air conditioning and fridge, the only incident is that we had to change the room because the toilet and shower would not flush. At least one of the receptionists (the kind one) changed the room right away! It’s centric 15 minute walk distance from the George town centre area. Wifi wasn’t the best.
