Endured maintenance taking place on the below apartment the staff and manager were rude and condescending.

Maintenance was taking place, told they would stop but didn't, spoken to to in a condescending manner by staff and manager.

Very well kept complex. Good value for money. We visited in January so very relaxed atmosphere around.

    Basic accommodation

    rating19 Sept 2025

The complex is well laid out around the pool, and we had a two-bedroomed apartment which we shared with friends. It was spacious and clean, but basic. The first day or two were great, quiet and peaceful. However, this is very much a family place, not so great for couples without kids as it gets noisy and people disregard the pool rules. Our peace was shattered by day 3. It's fine if you've got kids and want to be by the pool morning till night and never venture out.The beds weren't very comfortable and the pillows were lumpy and old. The kitchen had a large fridge/freezer and gas hob, oven, microwave, toaster and kettle. A cupboard contained a range of pots and pans and a drawer of cutlery. That was about it, which didn't bother us as we cooked nothing, but if you were planning on cooking in every night, it would be a struggle. No kitchen roll, hand soap or even salt and pepper were provided in the kitchen. There was one apartment clean and linen change during our 10 night stay - not great. All electric sockets are 3-pin, same as the UK, so no need for adaptors, but there are no USB sockets. There was nowhere within walking distance that you could go for lunch or dinner and the Lighthouse supermarket was a 15 minute walk away. In the 30° heat carrying bags of shopping, that's not an easy stroll! We had a car, and I'd say it's essential to hire a car to get out and about everywhere. There are Bolt taxis but we didn't use them so can't comment. Buses to Ghasri seemed non-existent, at least I never saw one, but there were plenty in Victoria. Gozo itself is a lovely island, plenty to see and experience and everywhere is within a 5km drive as the island is small. The Citadel, Marsalforn, the Xwejni salt pans are all worth visiting. Victoria is a busy city, restaurants, shops, bars, and parking in the multi-storey is free all day. In fact, there are no parking charges anywhere on the island, and driving is on the left (same as the UK), fuel is cheap. Eating out was very reasonable and I'd recommend Qbajjar in Marsalforn. Lovely restaurant, excellent food and service, overlooking the sea. They have a car park, but it's easy to park on the roads too (at least in September, it might be different in the height of summer).Overall, we had a lovely holiday and would return to Gozo, but not to this accommodation.

Great facilities for families, fun in the sun to be had!

Stunning complex of basic self catering apartments with a lovely pool. Travelling as a family we found the venue clean, quiet and well positioned to explore all of Gozo. We lounged by the pool most mornings and afternoons, with lots of families doing the same. The reviews on this site are out dated and don’t reflect the current good quality of the venue. The staff are helpful the grounds are kept spotless and there is even cool/out of the heat underground parking. Our 2 bedroom apartment was massive, we had decent TV, the wifi is fast (and free) all you need is a few euros change to pay for the aircon (which is also great). Remember it is self catering so you will need to stock up on supplies…using the local Lighthouse supermarket is also a breeze! We will be back to this accommodation for sure!

Enchanting and relaxing holiday complex, striking distance from the hussle and bussle

    rating20 Aug 2023

Having read some mixed reviews (mainly dated around 2016) I was a little apprehensive but we had a great experience at Villagg Tal-Fanal.We went with a huge group of friends and hired the whole place, and it's probably one of the best holidays I've been on in memory. The complex is arranged a central pool area, with a large, clean, and warm pool that was a delight to swim in each day. Shaded sun loungers seemed to always be available, but you're still just seconds from your apartment. The apartments themselves are all slightly different; locations, configurations, sizes, floors, etc, but this just adds to the charm. Some of the reviews have complained about the upkeep, but this wasn't a problem for us; perhaps it's a little quaint and some things could have been newer, but for the price, we're more than happy. Additionally, the maintenance guy came as soon as we had a problem to rectify one or two small niggles we had. High speed wifi is everywhere and while sometimes a little slow to connect, had a 130mbs speed that matches what I had at home. Self catering was not a problem; there's a lovely supermarket (Lighthouse) a 10 minute walk away, which we were incredibly surprised to find almost everything you could want (from food, to drink, to supplies), all very high quality, and we ate like kings every night. The beds were really comfortable; not hard or soft, but medium. I sleep on a memory foam mattress at home and am quite picky but most nights I was asleep in seconds, and woke up every morning without any back problems. The rooms are also air conditioned, and there are duvets should the air con be too effective (which it could be!).I would advise taking a couple of extras like a washing up brush and perhaps plastic glasses for the pool, as there is no bar and glass is not allowed. Contrary to one of the other reviews, we asked for and received toilet paper, as well as hangers, with a smile. Overall, a great place to stay, and highly recommended.
