  Casa Pig hole - BEWARE!

  We were three adults (my spouse and I and a friend - all in our 70s), and we booked the 2 bedroom Family unit. There was NOTHING in the kitchen for cooking on the disgusting, filthy, foil wrapped stove, The oven door glass swung away from the door when we opened it! NOTHING in the kitchen cabinets. Table was set for 4 people but that was it. Even if there were pots pans, utensils etc, I wouldn’t have used them! And no coffee maker. Again, I wouldn’t have used it even if there was one.My husband and I had no towels in our bathroom, except for one small hand towel and the towel that was on the floor to catch the water leaking from the shower head. Water came out of the faucet brown and really stunk. Even letting it run didn’t clear it up. Our friend’s bathroom had one bath towel and that’s it. Her water was black. No hair dryer to be found anywhere. We decided we should NOT have a shower until we reached our next accommodation. Living room cushions were badly stained, some zippers broken, one arm on the sofa was broken. Only one back cushion per sofa. We considered leaving after the first night (we had only booked two nights as a stop over before heading to Isla Mujeres), but we decided it would be too difficult to arrange last minute accommodation elsewhere right by the ferry. Algae on the pool tile. I wouldn’t dare eat at the “restaurant” on site. We booked through Expedia and will likely not trust them again. They should do a better job of making sure the pictures they are given for properties they book, are CURRENT photos!

  The description and pictures ate misleading. The hotel is not 100 feet from a beach- there is no beach.If you don’t smoke, well there is not a no smoking policy and guest smoke i. Corridor, at the pool etc.1- no one answers the phone2- wifi did not work in our room- I borrowed from another room above us.3- host stated breakfast is free! What is free is the toast , coffee and juice.4- the shocker was pulling up in a neighborhood or abandoned buildings, the hotel is outdated and weeds are over running the exterior. 5- there are no pans or pots if you intend to cook.

  For the price, it is just right. We stayed in the one of the more older dated rooms but the ones facing the pool seemed a bit nicer. The have AC in the beedroom but not the main kitchen/sitting room. Lots of native flowers and had a great authentic touch. There is no beach at all so be aware.

  We are proud Canadian travellers and have quite a bit of travel experience in Mexico/South America! We always support small locally owned hotels to support the community we visit! This was our first horrific experience…SO- Not as advertised on Booking.com. Photos/description on line do not match actual dilapidated, moldy, dirty conditions you actually get. Doors would not bolt- patio doors falling away from the frame and could not be secured! Old stained sheets and towels - cupboards hanging on hinges, black mold on base boards and up entire wall in bathroom! Included breakfast was a piece of toast and juice- menu provided and food was expensive and not good quality at all! The property refused to move us to another room and told us “this is Mexico- it’s how hotels are here-“ Then refused to reimburse our visa. We left the next morning and have been trying to get our $981.50 back. Owner refuses to communicate with Booking.com - and Booking.com have not been very helpful- although they did provide us a small travel voucher and left it at that! We were able to rebook a great apartment at half the cost in the same area- Playa Blanco- Moro White(also have Moro red and green) new and very nicely situated across from beach!

  A safe and adequate option if you miss the ferry.

  A solid 2.5 * hotel.  Perfectly adequate for your one night pre-ferry stay.Casa Caribe appears to have addressed some of the issues raised in recent reviews.Our 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment stay met our needs, but was pricey for the quality of the facilities.The good: * 3 minute walk to the ferry; * easy late night check-in with very nice staff member who spoke enough English to get us checked in with no issues. He also kindly carried our luggage upstairs for us and gave us a brief tour of the apartment* pristine bed linens* firm, but not hard mattress* one bathroom of two bathrooms, which seemed to have been redone and was very clean* nice waterview balcony* clean except for a small section of the bedroom floor, which was sticky * no bugs of any kind* a large menu of breakfast items for sale* pool looked clean, but we didn't go in.* clean kitchen with obviously new plates, bowls, glasses and cutlery* nice dining area*good air conditioningThe not-so-good:* one run down bathroom that was in such rough shape we couldn't tell if it was clean or not* complimentary continental breakfast was awful - lukewarm coffee, fake orange juice (more like Tang), had to buy milk for the coffee*nowhere to put clothes -no hooks, drawers, shelves or hangers* no pots, pans, or utensils for cooking* tired-looking dirty sofa * price was high for the quality.
