Choose o good time of year for beach side stay

    rating05 Nov 2025

Great location, ~15 minutes walk from town square. Laid back atmosphere with gracious, attentive staff. The grounds are lovely with many cute, boho touches sprinkled around. Wading pool is quaint; welcome on a hot day. Included breakfast plate with fruit and toast, coffee/tea is nice. Compared to other rooms, our room is due for updates: dingy paint, no art on the walls, no safe, no luggage rack, musty. Other rooms had wooden coat trees (great for drying damp items, keeping hats in reach). Housekeeping staff kept the room clean.Alma rooftop bar was great. I enjoyed the original cocktails. The view is amazing. Some find the pool cold - refreshing for me. Loud music bothered some in our group.Visiting Holbox during Dia de Los Muertos was amazing. Unfortunately, our timing was off for enjoying the beach much at our hotel. The odor of the sargassum made it difficult to remain in the area for very long on most days. Certainly no fault of the hotel. GUEST SERVICE, Ventas at Hotel Villas Tiburon, responded to this review Thank you very much for sharing such a detailed review. We truly appreciate the time you took to describe your experience. We are glad to know you enjoyed our location, the relaxed atmosphere, the breakfast, and especially the service from our team, who work with great care to make every guest feel welcome. We also thank you for your constructive comments regarding the room. We are currently under a new administration, and feedback like yours is extremely valuable as we work on improvements and updates in several areas to offer a better experience in the near future. We’re happy to read that you enjoyed our Alma rooftop bar and its views, and we fully understand the inconvenience caused by the seasonal sargassum, something unfortunately outside our control. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again at a better time of year so you can enjoy Holbox and our hotel to the fullest.Warm regards,Hotel Villas Tiburón

    Wonderful beachfront hotel!

    rating02 Aug 2025

This hotel was great and reasonably priced. Anywhere beachfront on a small island with no paved roads is not going to be as comfortable as an American chain hotel in Cancun. The front desk staff was wonderful and helpful. It’s easy to get a taxi into town for 150 MXN or walk 20 minutes. They help you reserve a whale shark tour if you want (do it!!!). The breakfast was simple but you can order something more substantial. Once they didn’t have the eggs in yet (again, this is an island) so we got the chilaquiles. The beach chairs and beds are great and always have sufficient shade. You can get a drink or snack there or at the pool upstairs which has a beautiful view + beds overlooking it all. Be careful w the screen doors. A raccoon got into our room when we had the glass doors open. The bed are hard and only have a thin bedspread. There is a small fridge. The shower gets hot quickly (not always a given in Mexico). All in all we really loved our stay and would come back.

A Gem Away from Town on a Beautiful Part of the Best Beach Area!

    rating14 Feb 2024

I loved this place! Great vibe, decor, rooftop pool, helpful staff, on the beach with great beach lounge chairs and a few beds, well-appointed little store on site and more. About a 20-minute walk to town (either by the sandy road or along the beach), which I appreciated. Holbox felt safe to me and I walked to the hotel at night along the beach without incident. Front desk will call for a golf cart if one does not want to walk. We typically would walk to town for dinner and enjoy the sunset views as we walked. Water is heavenly and the beach is not crowded in front of Villas Tiburon. Paul and his mother, who staff the front desk much of the time, are wonderful, speak English flawlessly and are super helpful. The rooftop bar/lounge is owned by a separate company, but is open to all Villas Tiburon guests (we are given bracelets to wear to identify us as guests), and no purchases required from the bar. Has couches, hammocks in the pool and beautiful views, as well as two "nests" above it from which one can enjoy the breezes and views.

    Great, Relaxing Hotel

    rating28 Mar 2023

This was our first time on the island and we weren't sure where to look or what to look for in a hotel. I wanted proximity to the beach, authenticity (local flavor), and affordability and this hotel checked all those boxes. When we arrived the guy at the front desk was super helpful and personally walked us to our room. The room was very spacious and had a view to the garden and to the side street. We turned on the AC and it took a while to get cold, but it worked very well. The room was clean and the beds were comfy. The hotel grounds were beautifully kept! Lots of greenery, and a GREAT sitting/lounging area outside right across from the beach. Also, on the beach they had chairs and swinging beds for hotel guests. The hotel employees would walk right up to us to take our drinks. I would definitely return to Villas Tiburon on our next visit to the island!

Okay hotel, good location, great staff, but no WiFi on the beach and no alcohol allowed in your room.

    rating20 Mar 2023

The hotel is in an excellent location and right on the beach. The staff is absolutely terrific and helpful. However, the hotel rooms are very basic, the beds small (NOT a queen, a double) and the sheets and blanket quite uncomfortable. The fridge is exceptionally small, but water is provided on each floor in a water cooler which is nice. The sliding door to our room was broken on the handle, and we were not confident in its ability to keep anyone out. The worst thing was that the WiFi was so slow even in our room, and nonexistent when on the beach. I could get the WiFi for hotels next door and even two hotels away, yet not for my own hotel! The drinks at the bars are watered down completely, ordering a triple tastes like a single. Finally, there are signs in the room that alcohol is not permitted in your room. Seriously? Not permitted?? And if you have excess trash they will charge you for it. So everyone takes trash out and throws it on the ground outside the hotel, or in outdoor garbages where animals get into it.
