  A quiet relaxed spot in the hotel zone, close to everything

  My room was clean, no problems with the A/c or anything else. It smelled fresh. Water in the shower wasnt very warm and it didnt drain well so not incredible shower wise but thats no biggie. My room face the lagoon and was blissfully quiet even though its spring break and the hotel is right in the party zone. The pool is well maintained, the grounds are BEAUTIFUL, extremely well cared for. The guant murals and the nighttime lighting really add to it. There are iguanas wandering the grounds, a beautiful view of the sunset over the lagoon, lots of local birds, and crocodiles in the lagoon too! Staff was friendly and helpful. This place had a very casual vibe. I always felt safe. They also have a lockbox for valuables at the front desk, as there are no room-safes. Its a short walk to two great public beaches! I had a great time swimming on the ocean nearby, playa caracol is calm and warm and perfect for a swim. It was a bit odd that when I went during spring break it seemed to be so empty. I never saw more than 5 people at a time. But that was perfect for me as i went there to relax. The music they play at the pool was great, none of that top 40 crap. Many beautiful spots for selfies. The restaurant is expensive, and the dish i got there was overpriced and completely flavorless. Nobody seemed to ever be using the common areas indoors such as the kitchen. None of the daily activities posted on the TVs existed, there was no yoga or anything else happening around me. The thing that really was not good though is they have a rule of no outside food except in the kitchen. And the restaurant almost never has anyone there attending it. I was told on checkin that i was not allowed to eat or drink by the pool or in my own room?? That really killed it for me, and I had to spend time wandering around in the heat trying to find a reasonably priced meal. My stay would have been a lot more relaxing if I would have been allowed to bring some snacks from the nearby grocery store and eat by the pool or in the gardens. I think they either need to change that policy or greatly expand what is available to eat on-site. All in all this is a very underrated hotel with an incredible price.   Long weekend in Cancun

  stayed at Selina Nilu in Cancun and would definitely recommend it. The location is prime – close to some of the best clubs and really beautiful beaches. There’s a huge supermarket nearby for groceries, a massive souvenir shop, and easy access to buses to and from the airport, as well as local buses around the area. You really can’t beat the convenience.The hotel itself is beautifully designed – they’ve done a great job with the overall aesthetic. My room was large, airy, and faced the lagoon, which was absolutely lovely. There’s a big swimming pool where people can hang out all day, plus a nice bar and restaurant area where you can play board games or pool.I had breakfast there twice and lunch once, and the food was top-notch – genuinely very good. They also run a WhatsApp group where they post daily activities, so there’s always something going on in the afternoon or evening, like karaoke, board games, cinema nights, or yoga. It creates a really fun, social atmosphere.The only thing to note is that on Friday and Saturday nights the music goes on until quite late, so if you’re a light sleeper like me, bring earplugs. I had mine, so it wasn’t a problem at all.Overall, I found it to be an affordable option in a fantastic location in Cancun, and I would happily stay there again.

  Nicely the Bartender made our trip fun!

  Nicely the bartender was amazing. She is very kind, attentive, and she is the reason we had fun at his hostel. The bar was very good prices and nice visually. The bad part about this hostel is that the rooms are very dirty, there’s mosquitos that fly around in the bathrooms, and our ac wasn’t working in our hostel. The only reason we would come back to this place is for Nicely!   A Disturbing Stay Marked by Theft and Neglect

  My stay at Selina Lagoon was genuinely distressing from the moment I realized nearly four hundred dollars had been stolen from my belongings. What should have been a relaxed trip turned into hours of frustration as I tried to understand how something so serious could happen inside a property that promotes itself as safe and community-driven. The sense of violation stayed with me the entire time, overshadowing any possibility of enjoying the surroundings.The most shocking part was the staff’s absolute lack of urgency or concern. I expected at least a basic effort to investigate, guide me through next steps, or communicate with transparency, yet every interaction felt dismissive. It was as if losing that amount of money inside their premises was a minor inconvenience rather than a serious breach of trust. Their attitude made the situation even harder to deal with and left me feeling completely unprotected as a guest.Once I searched online, I found that similar thefts have been reported recently, which makes the whole situation even more alarming. It suggests a repeating problem that the hotel has allowed to continue, and possibly more than one person involved. Coupled with the visibly neglected and outdated structure, it becomes clear that Selina Lagoon is not being managed responsibly. This experience has been disappointing on every level, and I would never recommend staying here.

  Worse hotel experience I’ve ever had

  As I have previous left great reviews for their other locations I must say this time I was very disappointed. This location is dirty and the room smelled like mold! Their car service provider didn’t probably communicate with us and didn’t buy provide us details the night before then had the audacity to charge us a now show at which Selina hotel then decided to not allow me Ti stay if I didn’t pay their provider cen though they were at fault . They threatened gi charge me for the night and prohibit my stay . After I reluctantly paid since I had no other place to stay they were so rude when I decided to pay with us dollars they said this is Mexico honey we don’t accept American money how rude ! They even talked to themselves in front if me how they were going to call the cops after they took my money very unprofessional! When I went to my room it had no tv beds are had no soap no safe and the smell of mold gave me headache. Because of this experience I will never stay at any of Selina’s locations again So disgusted do not stay here it was more like a roach motel in this place !! If I would’ve know for the price I paid here I would’ve stayed elsewhere but I went by my previous experience in Ecuador ! Do not stay here book elsewhere in Cancun !!!
