  The man out front at hotel is a terrible ambassador for this hotel. People on Isla are so kind and warm. This man is an exception. Do not stay here.

  We made these dream catcher type things, a Mexican tradition, with Pedro and it was a super fun chill experience to do at the hostel! Pedro was super clear with instructions and now we have a cute souvenir to take home!   Misleading, Deceptive, and Not Worth the PriceI booked at this property in Isla Mujeres from Nov 5–7, 2025(two nights), booking through Expedia. The listing advertised “Standard Room (Double), Private Bathroom” with elegant wood paneling, natural light, and a window overlooking trees. The reality was shockingly different.Room MisrepresentationThe room I received looked nothing like the photos. Instead of the warm, polished wood paneling shown online, I was given what felt like a storage bodega—bare concrete walls, concrete floor, no decoration, no view, and no natural light. The bathroom was equally uninviting. This was nowhere near the $150 per night value advertised; at best, it resembled a $35 room.Cleanliness & ComfortStandards were below expectations. Surfaces were dusty, the bathroom showed signs of neglect, and the room smelled of humidity.. The room was unappealing and basic amenities were either missing or subpar (including no toilet paper).Front Desk ExperienceThe staff at the counter were dismissive, evasive, and outright deceptive. When I asked to change rooms, they first claimed none were available, then shifted their story, saying the booking only guaranteed “a private bathroom,” not the room shown in the photos. When I requested a refund, they deflected responsibility to Expedia. Expedia attempted to contact the hotel, but the staff refused to answer, claiming their “system was down.”This evasive behavior felt con‑artist‑like. The front desk staff deliberately hid the truth, refused to put anything in writing, and avoided admitting fault even when it was clear they were in the wrong. Their unwillingness to acknowledge the misrepresentation shows a pattern of deception.Deceptive PracticesFrom what I observed, the wood‑paneled rooms shown in the photos are upstairs, while the ground‑floor “economy” rooms (like the one I was given) have no wood paneling at all. This distinction is intentionally hidden from guests, allowing the hotel to bait travelers with misleading images and then switch them into inferior rooms.Value for MoneyFor the price charged, this was unacceptable. I felt misled by the marketing photos and regret booking here. I left immediately and rebooked the same night at Rocamar Hotel, which offered a better price and an honest representation of its rooms.Bottom LineThis property is more of a hostel than a hotel. The photos are misleading, the staff are dishonest, and the value is nonexistent. I strongly recommend avoiding this place. Before paying, insist on seeing the actual room you’ll be given.

  The hostel is very nice, well situated and Pedro was amazing with the daily activities! Will recommend to other travelers
