A hotel with a sense of humor

At the outskirts of San Cristobal, Fiesta Inn stands as a rather ordinary hotel.The rooms have no AC, which in a tropical weather like Chiapas can get unbearable. On the good side, since there's no full-body mirror, you won't be able to see yourself dripping with sweat.The chef is really talented. I've never seen someone mess up tortilla soup before. Seriously, avoid the food. But if you do have a meal there, the service is so slow that by the time you finally get the check, you would have forgotten how bad the food was, so you will end up leaving a decent tip.Finally, the must have agreat sense of humor, because the gym was a joke. Great location for everything you would want to see in San Cris!!!

Once we got off the bus, Manuel and I took a taxi to this hotel. Wow !! we could feel the coolness in the air and the warmth of the staff that welcomed us. The hotel has a nice cool mountain feeling with green inner courtyards with rose bushes. The rooms are smaller than the Fiesta Inn in Tuxla, but they were clean and pleasant just the same. In fact, the housekeepers made a swan out of the towels with a greeting one evening. This gym is right above the lobby and we enjoyed working out and watching the World Cup Soccer matches. The main plaza is only minutes away by bus or taxi, and this hotel is also right across from a Chedraui supermarket if you need anything. Only a short walk from the hotel is the famous "San Cristobal Peak". Manuel and I climbed it one evening and the view of the city is spectacular at night !! This hotel is safe, clean, and well worth it for anyone wanting to see San Cris!!!

Small Rooms, No Airconditioning & claustrofobic

This hotel was a disappointment for us. We were there in the first week of Nov 2017. The good part about the hotel is that it is close to supermarket and you can walk to any of them. They have a good spread of breakfast too and it was included in our booking price. The hotel has ample parking and you can be worry-free about your car. The bad part was that the room was very small. The door just opened into the room directly denying us the privacy. The place was warm and we expected to have the Airconditioning working. However, we were told that there is no air conditioning and a guy was sent to open one of the windows which allowed some air circulation. The rooms also were a little dingy. I would rate this hotel more of an upmarket motel than a hotel. If you are on a holiday and are thinking of relaxing in the room, please avoid this hotel. This is best for you to just crash in the night after a tiring day.

My wife & I toured Mexico in Dec/Jan 2017/18. One of our favourite places was San Christobal, lots of culture blended with great restaurants and bars. We had a great guide called Hector who took us to some hidden Gems, which included a fantastic Roman Catholic Church which was in full swing, no cameras allowed inside or photos of any kind as there were many rituals taking place. There are markets and plenty of local handcrafted products. Our favourite restaurant was “El Argentina” a busy old fashioned establishment, with great food & Margaritas. It is incredibly laid back in San Christobal and very safe. We’d definitely go back for more.

Beware of phone calls from the cartel

We got a phone call from the cartel in the middle of the night. They wanted to get money out of us . We got very scared. In order to get the phonecall somebody at t hotel must have been involved with the cartel so we aware and do not stay here.
