  Getting to the hotel was a nightmare. Terrible roads, difficult to find. No basics such as coffee maker or ice machine. Beds were hard as a rock. I advise looking elsewhere. Very busy around the area and out of the way for traveling to Merida or Cancun. Felt unsafe the whole way to the city, and in the city.   Very nice, but wrong mapping

  I enjoyed my stay in this very comfortable, clean, modern, good breakfast, pet-friendly hotel. Hotel staff and manager are very gracious and accommodating. Everything except driving directions was excellent. If you use your typical mapping on your phone you’ll end up in a narrow dead-end alley with dogs, so if you are traveling with pets you especially won’t want to find yourself there. Use waze, the directions take you to the front door. I asked the manager to attach a separate address link when sending the pdf reservation (can’t copy and paste the address) with a warning about using google maps. Hopefully he’ll get it fixed so you’ll have a perfect stay.   If you have to go to Coatzacoalcos, this hotel is fantastic!

  Hotel Zar is a new hotel, that although difficult to find is outstanding in every way. It is in the only nice area of Coatzacoalcos, with multiple dining options, prime theaters and large air-conditioned mall within walking distance of less than 1/2 mile (and it´s very safe). Coatzacoalcos as a small city has to be one of the ugliest in Mexico (not recommended unless you have to be there on business). But if we ever have to return to visit family, we will stay at Hotel Zar again. We stayed in Hotel Zar for 7 nights and truly were comfortable, and felt safe.   A bit OFF the road, but if you have to go to Coatzalcoalcos, the reward for coming on a bumpy horrible road is well worth the fun you can expect here. Go for it. Near a lot of shopping places.   Nearly new...An upscale experience at an extremely budget price...Adjacent to shopping and restaurants...Nicely appointed and tastefully decorated...Hearty and delicious Mexican breakfast included...Pet friendly, but with an upcharge...An inexpensive taxi ride to anyplace in the city. This property is in a part of the city that is being newly developed.
