    El Encanto - Beware!!

    rating09 Apr 2026

Looking at your web site, I feel totally misled, After traveling almost 10 hours to arrive, the hotel was nothing like we expected. It looks beautiful on the website but this is clearly an older version. Instead of beautiful, we found a hotel in mid-renovation with no pool (beautiful in the website), no restaurant and no bar! DEFINITELY NOT AN ALL INCLUSIVE HOTEL!!Rooms were decent but the fan was not working, the shower was not fully functioning and the bathroom door did not close well. In addition, a family of 4 had not place to sit and play games (other than the coffee table in the lobby). We could not even organize ourselves at the small 2-person table because the ashtray was glued to the middle of the table. Frankly the only positive thing about the hotel at this point is its location. This Place is Great

    rating05 Apr 2026

I’ll try not to repeat everything already covered in other reviews, but I’ll start by saying the grounds, views, food, and staff are fantastic. We booked a 2-bedroom suite through JetBlue Vacations for our family of four (kids 13 and 16), and overall had a really great experience.I booked a room in El Encanto, but we were placed in Vista Encantada, which is the building furthest from the ocean. At the time, I didn’t realize there was a difference and I’m glad I didn’t, because I might have pushed for a change. The room itself was huge, spotless, and really beautiful. The only downside was the view. We were on the first floor, and due to ongoing construction, the ocean view was basically eliminated. Construction started around 8am and was literally right behind our room, but the noise wasn’t a problem during our stay. At some point I imagine it will be an issue. The hotel did offer to relocate us, but we decided against the hassle of moving and potentially ending up in a less desirable room. Instead, we asked for a credit, and they ultimately removed the taxes and fees from our bill (about $120 for our 5-night stay), which I was okay with. One of the highlights was having a butler. Elder was fantastic. We communicated mostly via text, which made everything incredibly easy. No waiting on hold or standing in line, just text him and he handled it quickly. He was extremely responsive and made the stay much more convenient. We visited during spring break and had no real issues getting pool chairs with umbrellas, which was a pleasant surprise. I expected we’d need to wake up early to reserve spots, but we were heading down around 9:30–10:00am after breakfast and still found plenty of availability.I saw this mentioned in other reviews, but the all-inclusive option is really the only way to go. You'll sign a check for every purchase you make. Like dining at a restaurant or ordering at a bar, you add a tip and sign. Some reviewers complained about this, but it’s honestly not a big deal. At the end of your stay, the charges are essentially waived, and you’re primarily covering tips and any applicable fees. That said, the menu prices at the restaurants are quite ridiculous. We went to Los Ricos one night for an “international buffet,” and despite no one in our family of four drinking alcohol, the bill came out to over $350. Aside from bringing one round of drinks, we handled everything ourselves, so we left a $10 tip. When the waitstaff was more involved, we typically tipped in the $20–$25 range. All in all, despite the construction affecting the view, the quality of the room, the service, and the overall experience made this a very enjoyable stay. I wouldn’t hesitate to return.
