Good for children under 12 years old!

    rating26 Aug 2024

Our stay at Ecotel Quinta Regia in Valladolid, Yucatan was very pleasant. The hotel has the necessary services that a family with children under 12 years old needs. Without a doubt there are aspects that can be improved, but the place is clean and the kindness and attention of the staff who work there is formidable. From those in charge of the reception (who by the way have very good information about the surroundings and places of interest), cleaning staff and waiters and cooks, they are extremely patient and kind with the children. It is true that not everyone has an extensive command of English or other languages, but many others do (the waiter's captain Margarito, for example, speaks French, English, Mayan and a little Italian apart from Spanish), especially the waiters at the hotel restaurant (remember that in many countries that also earn significant income from tourism, many of the service providers do not speak or do not speak other languages ??fluently or refuse to speak them), this is where a little Spanish helps and breaks the language barrier and becomes a very pleasant experience. Personally, seeing and hearing my children try to speak broken Spanish or English was satisfying. The hotel parking lot is large and the rooms adequately isolate noise from outside. The pool is a nice place to cool off, but it is important to be careful with the slippery floor that is in the palapa in front of the pool bathrooms and in front of the pool and bathrooms themselves. The location of the hotel is convenient for getting to the city center on foot (10 minutes walk), by car it is even shorter, there is the possibility of being able to park the car near the park and the cathedral on the street where there is no yellow line, but it is not sure to find a place (there ar also enough parkinglots in the center), but I think it is better to walk. The hotel offers the possibility of easily walking to a nearby supermarket (about 5 minutes by car and no more than 10 minutes on foot). The location is ideal for touring natural attractions that are between 30 and 90 minutes by car, such as different cenotes (some of them within the city itself or no more than 20 or 30 minutes by car), archaeological sites such as Ek Balam (30 minutes by car) and the Río Lagartos reserve and Las Coloradas, approximately 90 minutes from Valladolid, are reachable (it is important to note that it is better not to drive at night due to the speed bumps and potholes that can be found on the roads and the lack of lights on some bicycles and motorcycles). There are not many gas stations on some routes near Valladolid, so it is a good idea to fill up with fuel before leaving Valladolid or on the way back. There is a gas station near Río Lagartos. The hotel offers the possibility of easily walking to the city center and even to a nearby supermarket (about 5 minutes by car and no more than 10 minutes on foot).A safe place for children to play and explore within the property. For an additional deposit (refundable at the end of your stay upon return of the lock and key), you can request the lock and key for the in-room safe, which is large enough to hold several belongings as well as a large laptop. Cars can be parked without any problem and with enough space to avoid scratches or bumps. In the future we will definitely consider staying at this hotel again.

Quick stay on our Yucatan birdwatching trip

    rating26 Mar 2023

We stayed at the Ecotel Quinta Regia for one night as part of a birdwatching tour with Ecocolors. We arrived early and we were able to get our room well before the standard check-in time. Check-in was quick. They had a nice bar area to lounge in, but we did not eat there. We were out that night and left early before the free breakfast. The buildings and grounds were very nice. The rooms were standard, but clean and good looking with a little porch area attached. It was a bit of a long way to haul our luggage out from our room. They allowed us to store our bags there while we were out birding. Overall a really nice place in a good location for the attractions in the area. I would recommend it.

All was good except for musty odor

    rating14 Nov 2019

It is a 15-20 minute walk to main square. Room was nice with walk in shower and parking was good. The grounds had lots of tropical vegetation and a swimming pool which was ok for short laps if no one else present. The restaurant onsite was convenient and served tasty food. Unfortunately, the room had a musty odor which did not disappear with the A/C.

    Relaxing stay in pleasant location

    rating22 May 2019

We stayed at this pleasant and relaxing hotel for 5 days while exploring the Mayan remains and cenotes in the area. The hotel was not busy during our stay, so we slept and breakfasted extremely well. Our room was large, comfortable and dimly lit, and looked out over lush green gardens. We never managed to have more than a tepid shower, but in the heat this didn’t really matter. A tip for future visitors - taxis from outside the town, eg Cancun airport, are always sent by their SatNavs to the rear entrance of the hotel and it is not obvious how to find reception from there, and they cannot drive from there to the front entrance due to the one-way street system! Just phone reception and they will guide you in.... The hotel is an easy walk into the centre of Valladolid, where there is plenty to see and eat.

    Two nights in Vallalodid

    rating01 Feb 2019

Hotel is nice, clean, quiet. Staff is lovely and very helpful. Hotel restaurant can serve good local food - comida tipico yucateca. Suggest eating outside under the palapa (thatched roof outdoor patio) rather than the stuffy dining room—just ask! The pool is pleasant and with the palapa, a nice place to have a drink and relax. Decent local restaurants in walking distance. La Selva is just a few blocks away. Try the panuchos—fantastic. And they make an excellent agua de chaya. I asked everywhere whether the ice was made with agua purificado, and yes, it is. Also recommend a little local place in an open air arcade with shops and restaurants just on the ne corner of the central square. Locheria el amigo Casiano. Nothing to look at, but cheap and good. The Mayan people are lovely!
