Nice hotel

Beautiful modern entrance, excellent buffet for breakfast , the rooms could be updated a little. Unfortunately it was noisy where our room was but not all rooms heard the same. 3 stayings at the Merida Castellano Hotel
13 Feb 2026
I have stayed here three times. That should tell you something. The parking is underneath the hotel. You hand your keys to the man at the entrance and he takes care of the rest. It is simple. It works. The staff outside are kind and hardworking. Have small bills ready. They earn them. The lobby is beautiful. Open. Lively. The chairs are deep and comfortable. You can sit there with a lemonade—there is always lemonade—and watch the day pass. It feels easy.Breakfast is generous and honest. If you are hungry, you will not leave hungry. The restaurant serves good food with strong Mexican roots. Yucatecan cuisine has pride of place here, as it should. The flavors are local and real. The pool is pleasant. By two in the afternoon the walls begin to steal the sun, which can be a blessing in Mérida’s heat. The gym has weights and treadmills, mirrors to admire your heroic efforts, and always water with cups nearby. It does what it needs to do.The rooms are not just rooms. They feel like small apartments. Charming. Spacious. Comfortable. It is a pleasure to return to them at night. The hotel is very well located, close to the historic center. You can walk to almost everything that matters. The price is fair. More than fair. It remains a solid value. Now the truth, because it matters.Reception is not always at the level it should be. Sometimes the attitude suggests that you should feel honored to be there, instead of welcomed. A touch of humility would go a long way. Guests are not intruders. They are the reason the lights stay on.There was also a painful moment. My wife lost a piece of jewelry with great sentimental value during one of our stays. She was deeply saddened. We returned the following year, knowing that hotel staff changes often and hoping it had been an unfortunate incident rather than something worse. Still, it is something management must take seriously. This hotel deserves to be the best value in Mérida. It is close. Very close. With stronger leadership at reception and tighter attention to security, it could truly stand above the rest.In short • Excellent location • Generous breakfast and strong regional cuisine • Comfortable, apartment-style rooms • Friendly and hardworking operational staff • Good value for money • Inconsistent front desk attitude • One serious security concernWe have returned three times. That means we see its heart. With a little more discipline and humility at the top, it could be exceptional. Esther M, at Gamma Merida El Castellano, responded to this review Good afternoon, thank you so much for your detailed message. We are delighted to know that you continue to favor us with your kind preference and that you enjoyed your stay with us. Of course, we strive every day to provide better service for you and will undoubtedly continue to do so. We will share your comments about Reception with our department head. Regarding the lost item, I understand that it was an inconvenience for you, and I assure you that we have staff members with many years of experience at the hotel and an impeccable record of honesty, as you can verify on various websites. Thank you for choosing to return to us and for placing your trust in us. We are at your service and it will be a pleasure to welcome you back soon. Thank you.

Great location, very comfy bed!
28 Oct 2025
Really big room with a kitchen area. Massive bed which was really comfortable. Very clean throughout. Good, clean bathroom. Great air conditioning and safe box. Only downside was a bit of noise from a local karaoke bar in the evening (Saturday), but it finished around 11 ish so wasn’t a problem. Nice pool area. Great location, walkable to just about everywhere - bus station was furthest away and that was less than 20 mins away. A Uber to the airport was really good value (100$ MXN). Would recommend and would definitely stay here again. Gerencia General, Director General at Gamma Merida El Castellano, responded to this review Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the spacious room, comfortable bed as well as clean facilities and that you found the location convenient for exploring the area. We appreciate your feedback regarding the noise from the local karaoke bar and are glad it didn’t affect your overall experience. Thank you for recommending us and sharing your positive experience with future guests. We look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit!
