Loved our stay, but...

We had a lovely week. The staff were super accommodating. The location is great, one and a half blocks from the Plaza, but quiet. Beds were super comfortable. We had two rooms in the front section which appears to be the oldest. They were pretty tired and in need of upgrading. My room was fine but really dated, my friend's room was musty, bathroom ceiling moldy, shower pressure bad. No safe in her room.The restaurant was ok, breakfast was good with plenty of choices and fast service. Unfortunately, it was only open from 7-11 and 6-10. There was nothing available if you arrived at 4 or 5 and wanted to relax with a beverage or snack. Many of the items on the menu for dinner were not available. All this being said, we did enjoy our stay and would hope management would up their game a bit because it is really a lovely property

Delightful historical accommodation dating back to a Convent 400 years ago. Wonderful trip back in time and although the room was showing it's age , we loved it. Easy walking distance to city square and main shops. We would stay again..

Perfect Unique and Charming Hotel

We were extremely happy with our stay at this property. The staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel was very clean and the rooms were comfortable. The pool area was peaceful and a good place to hang out in the afternoon when it would get too hot to tour the city. It is close to many attractions and restaurants in the area, and we felt very safe walking back to our hotel in the evening. The hotel’s decor made it a very unique and interesting place to stay, and we hope to visit again someday!

Mouldy room and rude staff

Although appearing charming this hotel and staff fell far below expectations Upon arrival we noticed that , when showering , watered oozed through the wall to the adjacent bedroom - to clean the water from the floor we needed to slightly move the bedside table - the wall was moist from previous leaks and the was a patch of different coloured moulds growing on the wall - hidden by the bedside table (this wasn’t new mould and would have been apparent to housekeeping) We complained to a very unhelpful member of reception staff ) the hotel was full ( they said ) so they couldn’t move us immediately - this meant that we had to sleep within feet of live mould spoors We were moved the following day to a tiny internal room ( thankfully no mould ) This move was facilitated by a helpful Porter - as the receptionist didn’t seem to care Whist we can appreciate older properties “ faded grandeur” water leaking through walls and sleeping within feet of mould isn’t acceptable

Can do better in Merida

Our family stay at La Misión de Fray Diego was okay, but it didn’t quite meet our expectations. The hotel has a lot of charm and a great location, making it easy to explore Mérida. The staff was friendly and welcoming, which we appreciated.However, the room we stayed in felt quite aged, especially the bathroom, which could use some updates. A special note—avoid the Villa Verde at all cost if possible. It’s separate from the main hotel, located near the car park, and feels old, smelled humidity and was very tired. We where delighted to change to a room in the hotel. Overall, while the hotel has a nice atmosphere, it could benefit from some room upgrades. It’s an okay option, but we’d likely look elsewhere next time.
