  Highly recommended hotel while in Mexico City. The advantage of staying here is that it is centrally located to the downtown area. In addition, you have a variety of transport options to navigate throughout the city. It should be a pleasant experience for the single as well as for the family traveler.   You get what you pay for when the price is cheap.

  I'm not sure but i was thinking that they had AC/heating but the room i got had neither. so it was cold they did supply blankets which helped but my father-in-law is older so we were worried about him. The restaurant was ok but the distance from the hospital was not accurate. Well you get what you pay for so the price was cheaper than the others. So good luck to all.   This fantasy island experience begins with a monumental building that is listing to the west side, similar to that of a ship that is about to sink. You will be greeted at the entrance of this building by the stench of fresh sewer water that abundantly leaks from side of the building, where a sewer pipe has burst. It probably a good idea to check if you have been vaccinated for yellow fever. This as well as the need to bring a fly swatter to combat those pests called mosquitos. They will come out when your a sleep in you uneven floored room. These mosquitos enjoy the cover of the dark, and noisy city late at night in order to wake you by the symphony like sound of the swarm of mosquitos around your bed. This hotel is also swarmed by working girls or trans girls, who parade in miniskirts and high heels, who are willing to satiate your sexual needs. The staff of this hotel, do have the delusional idea that their Hotel Escala Siglo XXI is a five star rated hotel and will charge you accordingly. They are reluctant to be courteous or helpful, unless you are willing to tip them nicely. Unfortunately, in my stay at this Hotel the elevator ceased to function and had to make my way to the room using the fire-escape stairs. If these amenities are of your liking, then Hotel Escsla Siglo XXI is the place you will want to stay when you’re visiting this highly contaminated city. In addition to the mosquitos. beware of the thieves the lerk in the surrounding streets of this fantasy island like experience hotel, located in the seedy neighborhood called Colonia Obrera. You are going to be a happy camper.   Building is sinking and since Mexico City is a city much affected by earthquakes, it does pose a serious chance it might collapse. There is only one elevator and at least four times a month someone gets stuck. You get what you pay for. Good luck!   Decent hotel in challenging neighbourhood

  One or two of the reviews of this hotel are surprisingly extreme - probably bad experiences exacerbated by the language problem, i.e. the lack of English spoken. The area is not nice - it suited me to stay round there - but keep your head down and it should be fine. The subway is not far. Room was huge and quite secure. (TV is not all porn, that is a ridiculous statement.) Yes, the lack of English at the desk is annoying, but you get used to it in Mexico City. Yes, the restaurant shutting on Sunday is a pain, but the poor man works all the hours going. (He also has a bit of English and is a decent guy.)
