  This is an excellent budget option, in a magnificent colonial building close to the centre. The bilingual staff are very helpful. The wifi is strong and strong everywhere. The common areas are well-appointed.   Walkable to attractions and public transit. Very nice and clean. It was hot so I would recommend a small rechargeable fan ( I went in March). There were fans in the room but my bunk was behind a different so the fan did not reach me. It was about 2 blocks from the nearest metro line and had lots of shopping and street food nearby.   terrible experience + no windows

  Chaotic management, dishonest staff and terrible attitude towards customers like us. Be careful when you book a hotel which looks pretty from outside and at good location. We had a triple room for three people with a double bed and two single beds. There are NO WINDOWs at all in our room so we had to leave the door open to breath but the door is facing the hall which also does not have windows. There are no quilts on our single beds for two of us, nothing but a pillow so we had to ask. the reception girl offered two blanket. After talking for very long, the reception girl never said sorry but act as if it is our problem not hers, then she said eventually that someone will give us a quilt at 12 at night. But nobody came at 12 at night, so we went downstairs and the new shift receptionists were not aware that anyone is supposed to come deliver quilts ( Because she failed to pass on the message , instead she just lied to us to get rid of us and made us wait for four hours until 12) . Then one receptionist suggested that we buy a quilt together with them… eventually two quilts were found around 1 a.m so we could not sleep until 2 a.m.however they charged us the standard price for a room that you can get in Mexico City with windows and better staff. At 1 a.m we told them we need to speak to the manager so we asked the reception to write down a complaint to the management. However, we waited a whole day and no manager ever tried to contact us or even replied to my message on booking.com Someone from the hostel replied to my massage being super rude saying „ we as customers have to follow hotel rules „ and „ their service only includes two blankets but nothing else ) but we told them it is not about the blankets, it is about the missing quilts, that is standard for hotel rooms and also were found on the double bed. Just be aware when you book this room with NO WINDOWs, cuz it is not obvious on booking.com and it will be very hard to get any refund when you already entered the room. The reception team seems to be not able to solve any of these problems but being rude. If you have accepted the room it is also hard to solve if there’s any issue coming up. They told us, since we didn’t realize there’s no windows, so it’s our problem , not theirs, because we already signed the contract. Just ask for windows when you book a hotel room in Mexico City!   This hostel is the worst I have stayed at in my entire life (and I’ve bag packed many times in my life). I stayed in the 20 person dorm which was the worst mistake of my life so I want to advise everyone against it. The room was absolutely freezing, even though it had no air conditioning, as the back door is left open all night. They give you a very thin blanket. I am from a cold country and used to the cold and still shivered every night. The door is left open Presumably to circulate air, but could they not install fans? The curtains of the bed fall down on all the beds constantly, they are all broken, waking anyone lucky enough to have fallen asleep. The bunks have no lights inside, so when you try sheild yourself from your 20 room mates your in total darkness and cannot even read. There are 3 toilet cubicles on a floor with close to 100 people, in the morning they are locked for cleaning. One evening I walked in and one was totally covered in fecal matter, it was not cleaned until hours later. The bedroom smells like farts, and as all the bathroom doors in the hostel are for some reason made out of metal and clearly not maintained they make a really loud noise when opened and closed. I genuinely got no sleep as asides from the snooring in my dorm (not the hostels fault I supppose) people going to the bathroom in the night and those huge metal doors squeeking and clanging continually woke me. The overall vibe of the hostel is weird, people were living there. If you want to use the shower be careful, I went in at 7am one morning thinking I could catch it before it got dirty but no it had clearly not been cleaned as it was covered in hair. If you want to cook you’ve to pay a deposit to use every single item. I would discribe this place as hellish and you could not pay me to return.   I stayed here on a trip to CDMX and it has been amazing!! The hostal is beautiful and the amenities are just like a hotel! I slept so well and Lupita was super helpful! She always had a smile and was always lovely to see!
