A real taste of Mexico city

    rating05 Jun 2026

My son and I traveled to Mexico and I chose this hotel for our 1 night stay in the city prior to going to Toluca based off its location being close to Rico tacos de toluca and mercados (markets) but I wasn't aware it would be close to so much more from bread shops to coffee shops and lots of food vendors and restaurants. It may seem sketchy out there based of some building but trust me it was safe. The hotel is strict about check in so dont except early check in even when there may be rooms ready. There was a lady who spoke a bit of English at the front desk, we were able to leave our bags there to venture out prior to check in. The entrance is beautiful and having a foose ball table was cool, my son and I enjoyed playing it. The gym is small but thats no issue, the main issue is the treadmill is a weak model doesnt hold much weight for one to run as it jolts and it shuts off after a while, and the elliptical didn't work at all. Upon arriving to the room I found it very interesting and quite amazing that in order to operate the lights you have to place you cars in this slot thats at the entrance of your room to conserve electricity. Very smart!! Ive never seen that here in the US but should be utilized. The room was clean and very nice they also had AC which was a big plus. The king bed was huge and very comfy, the one blanked tho kind of smelt just tad funny, the bathroom was great as well with an amazing huge bathroom. We had room 115, the shower door did not close the whole way so it did tend to spill out of the floor a good bit. They do provide 2 free waters in the room, along with a coffee pod machine and a bottle for refilling water in their water filtered machines located on out floor and at the lobby. They do have a free coffee machine with different drinks especially espresso. They do have a restaurant in the hotel serving food most the day. How ever they offer a free breakfast buffet in the morning which was beautifully set up, with an amazing veggie cake, this white pasta, beans, chilaquiles toppings for it, yogurt, breads, coffee, and juices which i wish were fresh squeezed but they were not, just powder mix. Other than that it was a great stay, good sleep and easy to get around without help or GPS. Gestor de Experiencia, Guest Services / Front Office at Kali Ciudadela Mexico City, responded to this review Dear AdrianAce, thank you for your detailed review. We are delighted to hear that you and your son enjoyed your stay and appreciated the local offerings. Your feedback regarding the gym equipment and breakfast options is valuable, and we will take it into consideration. We hope to welcome you back soon.

    A Definite Recommendation

    rating11 Jan 2026

Nice hotel, nice rooms, and quiet. About a 20 to 25 minute walk to parts of the city with popular attractions. Enjoyed daily buffet breakfast wh was included. Often took advantage of the filtered water machine and push of the button coffee machine for our frequent servings of free water and Cafe Americanos located near the front desk. Staff were friendly and helpful. Special shout out to Becky (front desk) and Laura (housekeeeping). Would definitely recommend. Disappointing

    rating25 Feb 2025

I have been a huge fan of Kali Hotels in many countries. The location is great , the beds are comfortable and the rooms are stylish. However, the lack of coordination between the restaurant, housekeeping and the front desk made for a 2 star experience. The hotel will not allow you to charge things to the room which meant multiple trips by room service interupting meals to make change or get charge machines. The empty dirty dishes sat outside our room for 3 days before I finally took them down myself. Housekeeping never refused used amenities despite generous tips. The front desk and management truly didn't care one way or another and made no effort to make things right. Very disappointing Kali experience overall. Marketing BRAS SOLUTIONS, Propietario at Kali Ciudadela Mexico City, responded to this review Dear Chasicakes, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on our profile. We regret that your stay was not entirely satisfactory; however, we would like to clarify that KALI Hoteles operates exclusively in Mexico City, so there may be some confusion regarding your location.Regarding your comments about our service, we would like to share that food and beverages in our properties are managed by Komali (Restaurant or Café). To authorize charges to the room, an open charge on your credit card is required, which we inform guests about at check-in.As for the cleanliness, this definitely does not reflect our service standards or our quality processes for our guests. We will address this matter with our team to ensure that such practices are avoided at all costs. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us continually improve our processes. We would love the opportunity to welcome you to one of our properties and provide you with the experience you expect from KALI Hoteles.Customer Service KALI Ciudadela Mexico City.

    Average hotel; would not return

    rating24 Nov 2024

I stayed for 9 nights early to mid-November in a standard queen room. The hotel is in a fairly good location, I walked everywhere and Balderas metro station is a block away. The street the hotel is on has a lot of mechanic shops, hardware supply stores, things like that. So while it may not be a lively main street with tourist shops or restaurants, I certainly never felt unsafe even as a solo female traveller. The staff were great, very friendly and professional. The hotel is very clean, both in common areas and in the rooms. Free coffee is always available in the lobby. Everything is modern and well decorated. The bed is comfortable, the AC works well, and there is a safe in the room. The shower is large, water pressure and hot water were great the entire time. There was a water bottle refill station right outside my room. The breakfast was well done. Staples like eggs, breads, pastries, pancakes, yogurt, and fruit did not change, but the hot items did so it was great to have some variety each day, especially since my stay was fairly extended. Now for the downsides. First, I was given a room on the ground floor, so while the room did technically have a window, it was heavily frosted over for privacy and had security bars for safety. This all meant zero daylight. I did not like having a room with essentially no window. Second, sound is definitely an issue. My room was located down a hall away from the main lobby, and I could clearly hear a baby on the other side of the hotel, on another floor, in their room with their doors closed. The design of the place echoes and sound carries very easily. I could also hear all street noise as if the window was wide open. Having said all of this, at night it was quiet, and I had no issues sleeping. But if you like to sleep in, you definitely cannot do that here. And third, the main downside was the extremely unreliable Wi-Fi. I had work to do throughout my stay and most days could not connect to do any of it. I had connections issues both in my room as well as in the lobby. This was extremely frustrating and considering the price I paid to stay here, certainly not acceptable. As much as I wanted to like this hotel, I would not stay again. Considering the price, this hotel should at least have reliable wi-fi. Add in an essentially windowless room and sound issues and I don't recommend this hotel, unfortunately. Better options in the Centro Historico area

    rating31 Oct 2024

On a positive note the rooms are clean and comfortable and a 5 min walk from Almaeda Park. On the negative side, hence the two stars, there is a lot of road noise especially from about 3am as there appears to be a motorcycle delivery beside it and they start at 3am. One night it sounded like there was a party right outside my window until about 2am. Also I booked via booking.com only to find I had paid 3 times the walk in rate even the checkin staff raised an eyebrow. It was the F1 weekend but they still had availability at their normal rate so nothing to stop them applying that rate as I had not paid in advance. Kali Hoteles, Dueño at Kali Ciudadela Mexico City, responded to this review Dear LesWe are very sorry for this situation; Our main objective is to provide a comfortable and quiet stay, which is why we opened a follow-up file on this incident. We will continue working to avoid this type of situation again.CS&WEB Management – Kali Ciudadela
