    Another great visit

    rating14 Mar 2026

Just back from another lovely visit to Casa Iguana, host Joel, happy daschaunds and aloof pussycat. It's small, private, intimate, the rooms are colorful, full of books and Antonia keeps everything immaculate. People return for these reasons. Not to mention the magical appearance some mornings of croissants and papaya juice. Collectivo busses are steps away and there is a taxi stand half a block from the door. For bird, beach and food lovers, all is in the immediate area.

    NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE

    rating27 May 2025

The kitchen Staff were great and the buffet was good. The hotel doesn't have a working bar but you could order drinks from the kitchen after 2 pm. The pool was below average and the so-called hot tub was just reservoir for cold water. The check-in process was pretty easy until we got to the room. The front door nob didn't lock and we left to go into the city thinking the door was locked but it turns out just a turn of the knob and the room door was open. After complaining to the front desk we learned that there was no onsite maintenance guy so I had to fix the door knob myself. The front desk never offered any concessions so I recommended we get a wrist band for the buffet breakfast. We got a wristband but we found out it was only for one breakfast. Wasn't a very big thank you to me for doing the repair they should've done. Our room showerhead sprayed water all over the bathroom and the shower door was leaking at the base so with our showers came flooding of the bathroom floor the front desk and they stated that they would send a manager to discuss all of our issues but nobody came-not even available on checkout day. We had gone to bed after a long day out and about 0300 hours (early morning) a large family had returned from a night out and was at the pool and outside of our door being beyond loud and crazy. They were allowed to be out their for hours and woke us out of our sleep until a neighbor told them to quiet down. This was not a great experience. In addition our refrigerator had an opened 2 liter soda sitting in it. Our second room had an a/c unit that smelled like molded so we shut it off for our trip.

I wouldn't wish this on anybody's worst enemy. Very disgusting and unsafe place to stay for a vacation or anything.

This hotel needs total remodeling. The pictures posted are from when they first opened or they have been photoshopped. False advertisement. Checked in and out the same day. The rooms were horrible, very dirty, and bug infested. Not clean.

    Cigarette Smoke EVERYWHERE

    rating05 Mar 2025

This is a lovely hotel for the price. Large rooms, great location, nice pool. But it felt like everyone else there was smoking. I saw more smokers in 5 days than I usually do in a year. Outside every other room are 2 chairs & small table. Ours was permanently occupied by a woman smoking. Then leaving her disgusting butts in a coffee cup. There were people who sat by the pool all day chain smoking. I had no idea so many people still smoked in 2025. It was like being back in the 1980s.I would love to go back but won't unless they clean up.

Second time visit , 3 years later , still nice

    rating01 Feb 2025

I stayed here for a week in early 2022 and returned now 3 years later with my sister . Not much has changed. Great value and unique , authentic property, nestled in a little mountain valley. Staff friendly, rooms clean, pool unheated so it's cold. The hot tub above the pool was cold too, but working this time. Outdoor bar seemed abandoned. Morning breakfast has improved . Love the OXXO store and Farmacia next door. Had a local party next door that ran from 10pm till 5am & loud. It would have been nice to be advised of this. Restaurant has limited , but nice menu and fair prices. Its was a nice relaxing week. I could live there . Easy to get anywhere as taxis are out the door. The infamous Mismaloya beach is a 5 minute walk as well as several great restaurants.
