    Worst inclusive hotel!

    rating29 Feb 2024

This business is purely leaning on the location of the building.Rooms need to update desperately Beds and pillows iare not comfortable Room safe was only lockable with the key.Wifi was not available in the room , TV is too small All inclusive is not worth it, food is too limited and poor quality Staff was somewhat attentive, hardly understand English.

    Adult section of San Marino.

    rating14 Feb 2024

We are staying at the San Marino pier. The adult section. Worst managed, overpriced hotel in the area. They are charging $340/ night. The restaurant is always empty because they are so overpriced. The pool is tiny and cold. The bathroom has broken faucets. The room is a big empty space with a stained sofa and only one chair. There are no surfaces to put things on. No coffee table.I have stayed at cheap motels that gave you more than 1 coffee pod each. Badly designed.I booked last minute and had limited options in the area I wanted to stay in. This one had the tenacity to call itself “luxury”. The bed is comfortable though. The two stars are strictly for the bed.

Great stay...we will absolutely return !

    rating11 Feb 2024

We stayed in the VistaPier renovated tower of this hotel ...seems to be two sections : Hotel Delfin ( the older section which seemed like more of a budget friendly place; mostly Spanish speaking families.) The patio and pools were clean but from the outside, the rooms seem very dated. The VistaPier is a totally different experience..adult only, nice pool easy to access loungers on beach and pool deck. Restaurant for guests only and public taco cafè on property. Food and drink service on beach. There is also a breakfast buffet next door st Delfin. Guest rooms were lovely...you have to reserve the ocean view junior suite ...Modern finishes ( tile and granite and very comfortable king bed an pillows with extra blankets, fridge and nespresso machine. No issues with sir von or water. Private elevator for VistaPier guests. Also registration was classy..private lounge and offered a drink at check in ! A bit pricier than average for no meals but the location and quality were great.

Do Not Stay Here - You've Been Warned

    rating04 Feb 2024

The San Marino is a beachfront hotel that's seen better days. They renovated the ocean view rooms in the tower, but the other rooms haven't been touched in more than 20 years. They're terrible - cracked tiles, mouldy shower curtains, beds with dirty, lumpy mattresses. Depressing. Even at half the going rate I wouldn't stay here again. Pros- great location on a prime section of the beach- close to many amazing restaurants- guests in the renovated rooms in the tower get VIP treatment: nice beach chairs, plush towels, private pool and dining room, better food- staff are friendly and kind; front desk staff are okay, unless you complain about your dirty room, then they get surly...or suddenly forget how to speak English!Cons- dirty, tired rooms that need to be updated/renovated- guests in the standard rooms are treated like an inconvenienceFinal Thought: Even if the standard rooms were offered at 95% off, I wouldn't stay at the San Marino.

    GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!

    rating12 Jan 2024

This is our fourth visit to this hotel and it will be our last! The SAN Marino was recently sold to the Marantha Group and is now split into two hotels: Hotel Delfin and Vista Pier. The Delfin (San Marino) opened in 1970 and has not been maintained or renovated since then. The rooms are dark and run down with old appliances. Many of the rooms still use a key as opposed to a key card. We were assigned room 505 when we first arrived. We opened the door and found the lights didn’t work. The safe was broken as well. We went back down to the desk and they reassigned us to 407. This room was not much better but we were so tired that we decided to try it. The air conditioning did not work however so we had a sleepless night. The hotel area is also full of stairs so it is not user friendly for those who are older or use a cane. During most of our stay the main pool was full of kids and the water murky. There was no where to sit as the hotel was filled with locals. From days past, we remembered that the pool in front of the ocean front tower was reserved for Adults and the sign confirmed that. So we went to that pool and went in for a dip. Within seconds security was at the pool demanding we get out. None of them could speak English so we said to them to get the manager. The manager arrived. She was very pleasant and kindly explained that this pool was now reserved for Gold and Silver clients neither of which we were. If we wanted to use this pool we would have to pay $1000 Mexican Pesos a day and switch rooms. We got out dried ourselves off and followed her to her office. She had security guards take us up to see the new rooms. This is when we first saw what they are marketing as the Vista Pier. The rooms are renovated with a walk in shower and an amazing view. After saving up and paying a lot to come here, we were upset that to get something decent we had to pay so much extra. Under duress we made the decision to pay the extra ($6000 Pesos). We have really enjoyed the room and the pool area but we are bitter about having to pay extra. The restaurant has had a minor facelift but the good food we remember from the past is gone. The selection of food is the same everyday (some sort of white rice, chicken in different sauces, broccoli/cauliflower that is overcooked, salads and sweet breads). With the exception of the omelettes at breakfast, the hot food is usually cold. Hot Dogs are cold dogs. The restaurant staff is amazing! We love the lady who makes the omelettes. She is always smiling even though she must be boiling back there by the grill. The restaurant is overrun by pigeons. You have to be watching your food constantly otherwise they will be in it. In conclusion, the only thing going for this complex is its location and its staff. That is not enough to suffer through the rest. There are so many other choices. I recommend you pick somewhere else!! If you do decide to stay at the Vista Pier, take the package that doesn’t include meals. There are so many reasonably priced restaurants within a five minute walk that you will be happier going to one of them.
