This Is How They Treat You When It Actually Matters

    rating25 Feb 2026

During the recent security crisis in Puerto Vallarta, when the city was essentially shut down, roads blocked, businesses closed, flights canceled, and tourists stranded with nowhere to go, Hotel Eloisa chose to charge guests for every extra night they were forced to stay. Not only that, they raised their rates during the crisis.Let that sink in. People couldn't leave. The airport was inaccessible. The U.S. Embassy was advising shelter in place. And this hotel decided it was an opportunity to make more money off stranded travelers.Meanwhile, we heard firsthand from other travelers at the airport that many hotels in Puerto Vallarta did the right thing, they either let guests stay at no additional charge or issued full refunds for the forced extension. That's how you treat people during a crisis. What Hotel Eloisa did was the opposite. They took advantage of a dangerous, frightening situation and profited off of people who had no choice but to stay. That is not hospitality. That is price gouging during a disaster.I would never recommend this hotel to anyone, and I'd encourage anyone considering it to think about how they treat their guests when it actually matters.

If you aren't American; don't go.

    rating13 Jan 2026

Unfortunately we had terrible customer service from The Main Front Desk Receptionist. I'm Mexican Canadian, And I was discriminated for looking mexican. I was checking in at 3 PM and she refused to do so. She was very nasty attitude, she keeps ignoring Us and finally she checked us in. But she gave us the worst room with no hot water at all for two days. According with another staff member she knew that. However I saw her dealing with Americans and she was super sweet and nice with Americans we spent 5 days so I noticed that. The location is excellent but be aware that if you are not American you will be treated like garbage.I will not 🚫 recommend this hotel at all.I was there from Dec 25, 2025 to Dec 29, 2025.

If you want to be awake your whole trip, this is for you.

If you want ANY peace on vacation, look elsewhere. Last year we got to wake up to a hour long Zumba class. This year even louder concerts have been added. They go late into the night. I love Mexicos live and let live way of life but this is vacation.

    Adios Eloisa

    rating24 Jun 2025

I have stayed at Eloisa nearly every year the last 10 years for 10 days to 2 weeks each trip. My last trip 14 months ago I said, “never again”. But I’ve loved this old no frills hotel and decided to try once more (June 2025). Putting a fork in it. This will be the last time…sadly. Employees I’ve seen there every year over the last 10 years…all gone. New young employees don’t even make eye contact. Room I reserved (through hotels.com) did not match description. Admittedly, I didn’t complain because I was a solo traveler. Didn’t matter that I had a standard double bed rather than a king. Ceiling fan in every room? Not in mine. Blackout curtains…not exactly!!Icing on the cake was card/lock on room door quit working the last morning there before checkout. Told it was fixed. Didn’t leave room the last 2.5 hours before I checked out because I would have been locked out and didn’t trust “the fix” since Uber to airport was ordered, I needed to finalize packing and get a shower. A short visit to the rooftop pool was too risky to trust I’d get back in my room. When I approached front desk to check out with luggage in tow, I informed the employee the door lock was still not working. She wanted me to wait for maintenance to get into my room so housekeeping could get in and inventory the mediocre blankets, towels and whatever else they thought I might not be able to live without. My uber arrived and I walked away. Sorry Eloisa….you blew your last chance.Oh…and don’t forget the dead roaches inside and out the room. At least they were dead….

    Another great stay

    rating20 Feb 2025

Had another great stay at Eloisa. Shorter this time than last year as we are now in our all time favourite PV hotel. Was VERY pleased with the free upgrade to a large suite that we received upon check in. As with all hotels here, if you are polite, staff will be as well! Love the roof top pool/patio & of course, location is EVERYTHING!
