    Relaxing Anniversary Trip

    rating10 Jun 2026

We had a wonderful week celebrating our 10th anniversary at the Grand Palladium Vallarta. Hopefully part of our experience can be helpful for your planning. Overall we enjoyed resort amenities (restaurants, buffet, beach, pools, bars, and the spa/hydrotherapy) and all the amazing staff members who work to make this such a wonderful resort. I had read multiple reviews prior to booked and was almost put off because of some of the harsh reviews- are there some minor things that could be improved? Yes, for sure. However, for us the good/excellent far outweighed any negatives. As noted in other reviews, this is a tricky resort if you have any issues with mobility- stairs are almost always the most easy access to pools, beaches, and restaurants. There are ramps and accessible routes around the hotel for mobility needs and strollers but it does take much longer to move around the resort and is much less convenient. Due to the resort being situated at the top of a cliff the pay off for all the stairs are the wonderful views of the bay and sunset. Room: We were in a panoramic ocean view room in the Villa (view upgrade for ocean view but no extra square feet like a suite) that overlooked the adults only pool. For us the upgrade was worth it as it was a nominal rate change compared to a garden view through WestJet. We considered upgrading to a panoramic ocean view suite through the hotel as this was not a room option with WestJet but it was too expensive and we didn’t need the extra space. If you want extra floor space I would recommend upgrading/booking with Sunwing for this room type). Some aspects of the room were a bit tired- light fixtures, table/chairs inside the room but the view and wonderful housekeeping made up for this. Estefani (and others I am sure) was our cleaner and we were consistently happy with the cleanliness level as well as speedy cleaning service/in room bar refills each morning. It was quickly noted we go through lots of water in a day and extra bottles appeared. We were a bit worried that the music from the pool would be loud in the room but with the patio door closed this was not an issue at all. Pool: Since we were not traveling with children this trip we spent most of our time by the adult only pool. We never had any issues securing a lounge chair in shade or sun even when we came down to the pool late morning or early afternoon after taking a break from the heat (and not leaving a towel to secure a lounger). This side is quite sleepy in the morning so when we were by the pool at 9 we had it to ourselves. It seemed like securing a lounger/chair around the children’s pool area/swim up bar pool was trickier as this pool is much busier with fewer loungers overall. There are also more areas around the main pool reserved for the travel club. Pool water was very comfortable and the service at the Quiet pool bar was great. Some days we had a server who would bring drinks (thanks Vicky!) but other days it was an easy trip up to the bar. We loved the adult pool infinity edge and the amazing ocean views from this spot. Beach: This resort has quite a large beach front with many water sport activities as well as beach volleyball. We swam and enjoyed some loungers by the beach but did not use any of the equipment. There is a nice small lagoon on one end where the water is calm and very warm. We enjoyed the swing by the lagoon for some star gazing early in the evening a few nights. The lagoon is perfect for littles to enjoy the beach as the waves and tide are a bit intense for very small children. Beautiful sunsets and if you are willing to brave a rocky section you can walk along the shore for quite a ways. Restaurants: The food was fantastic at this resort. I would agree not to expect gourmet/Michelin Star but we were very happy with the options at the buffet and we were able to try each of the a La carte options as well. From previous reviews, I expected to have trouble booking into the non buffet restaurants. I was pleasantly surprised that we were able to book all Al La carte options and enjoy the Mexican restaurant twice in our week stay. It appears the app is slightly glitchy and I had to toggle back and forth between the dates to get some times to show up in order to book. Reservation times seemed to populate around 9 am 48 hours ahead of the reservation (we even scored a reservation the day we arrived which was booked after 2pm). We were also a group of two so this may have contributed to having an easier time for reservations. It seemed some larger groups had to wait for their table to be put together by staff at the restaurant- however, we never witnessed a group wait longer than 5 minutes for their table to be adjusted after checking in with the hostess. Our favorite restaurant was the Mexican restaurant La Adelita. So much so we went twice! We loved the passion fruit margarita, fresh guacamole made at our table, and my husband will be talking about the lamb for many years to come. The sunsets you can view at an outside table shortly after 7 pm are also amazing! Best seats in the house. Thanks to the staff who helped us at La Adelita including Gibran, Nicole, Alejandra, Jose, and Gelen. Julio was our excellent server at Bamboo (Japanese/Asian restaurant) and we also enjoyed David, and Neftali at Portofino (Italian). The buffet (El Bosque) was also delightful! We had supper at the buffet on Mexican night and the Al Pastor tacos were amazing! One of my favorite things on vacation in Mexico is the food and El Bosque really let Mexican cuisine shine. There are many options at each meal for other tastes as well and you could have a completely different meal from the buffet all week if you would like. Special thanks to Sara at breakfast who remembered our morning drink orders. They have suggested times for arriving at the buffet posted at the hostess stand- we seemed to arrive just before the rush as our schedule seemed slightly offset to the majority of guests- so take note as there were lines at certain hours for getting a table at the buffet. Spa: We used a credit to have a relaxation massage that was delightful! After the massage we had access to the hydrotherapy area for 1 hour. This was very fun and relaxing. Dry sauna, cold plunge, steam sauna, hydrotherapy pool, and then hot tub. Very nice experience we would not have done if we didn’t have the credit. Gym: We used the gym most days as a little break from the sun. This meant we weren’t there at the busy time in the morning. Thanks to Angel for showing us around. Plenty of equipment to use and enough space when we were there. We primarily used dumbbells and cardio machines. Treadmill has obviously been used heavily but otherwise a nice space to compete a workout in. Activities/Entertainment: There are many activities to partake in throughout the resort. As we came primarily to relax and without kids we didn’t participate but I would say this resort has a very energetic and lively atmosphere. With activities until 1 am most nights and from chatter around the pool it seemed like many guests enjoyed the parties. We took in the Mexican show and it was excellent! The performers put in lots of work and preparation to put on an impressive show. If we come back with our children we would take in more of the evening entertainment and stay in the Family Selection as there were more options for kids activities in addition to the kids club available for all guests. Travel club sales pitch: We attended a sales presentation about Palladium Travel Club on our second day. In exchange we got some points to use at the spa. The amount of time the pitch would take was vague. We had plans to go to the gym right after so told our salesperson that we would have to be done in an hour. He took this to heart and went through the pitch quickly but without our time boundary I think the time would have ballooned to 90-120 minutes. We appreciated hearing about the options this would add and that once we said that it wouldn’t be a fit for us at this time there was no further pressure. Again, we loved our time at the Grand Palladium Vallarta. Perfect for relaxing and enjoying the sun. Thanks to all the wonderful staff- I have highlighted a few who served us directly however there are many unsung heroes that made this vacation so relaxing at this special place.

Grand Palladium Vallarta - Exceptional Employees

    rating14 May 2026

We spent one week at this resort as members of the Palladium Travel Club, and the experience was simply awesome. The concierge service was exceptional from start to finish. While the resort may be smaller in size and offer fewer activities compared to larger properties, they more than make up for it with outstanding customer care and personal attention.Every day throughout our stay, one of the rotating concierge team members — Itzel, Antonio, Fernanda, or Laura — would check in with us, sometimes once and sometimes twice a day, to see if we needed anything. At times, it almost felt like we were being “stalked” because they would appear so consistently and attentively, often without notice. Their level of dedication truly made us feel valued and cared for. From the concierge team to the restaurant staff and spa employees, we experienced warm, professional, and respectful service throughout the entire resort complex. We will definitely return again. Not a 5 star by far

    rating05 May 2026

I had to really lower my expectations of this place before I could enjoy it. 100% not a five star hotel. The air-conditioning sucks, the rooms need work and the food is very mediocre. Trying to get into a restaurant is a hassle. there were five of us in three separate rooms and you cannot make a reservation for five. Each room has to make their individual reservation on an app and my app was not working. The pools are murky and don’t look clean at all. Andres Peimbert, Otro at Grand Palladium Vallarta Resort & Spa, responded to this review Dear Guest Mosaicma,Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are sincerely sorry to learn that your stay did not meet your expectations. Our team strives to provide comfortable accommodations, seamless dining experiences, and well-maintained facilities, and we regret that your experience fell short of these standards.
