    We had a good time

    rating10 Jun 2026

Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta is a somewhat small resort. I will start with the goods before going to the bads. This is the first time that I've been able to book into a la cartes more than 1 day on a vacation, and I was able to get in 5 times! The rock shrimp at the Asian restaurant was very good (and the wasabi that we requested looked like the real thing which was very impressive), and the server said that all of the entrees are good and I believed him. Mario at The Grill is great despite the food being mediocre. It was nice to be able to get a ribeye, but the pork shank wasn't warm. The adult pool is decent, and Salomon is the man. He was the highlight of the resort for me. Apart from Omar (who is also great), he was able to make classic margaritas perfect every time. He works hard, being diligent to make them one at a time (I make two at a time at home and that would be fine too). And his English is good. Anahi does a great job with entertainment, and she's pretty good at beach volleyball. The beach was good, there were a lot of waves which made it fun, and pretty much only the jellyfish can be a problem in the water (not a lot of rocks, I didn't come across any sea urchins or seaweed, and I only talked to one couple that were stung). Feeding the turtles was pretty awesome. It's a short walk to the town where El Habanero has amazing pork cheek tacos, and there are a lot of other places for great tacos around town. It's a good thing that there were a lot of Mexican nationals or there would have only been about 10 of us on the resort. The room wasn't the greatest, but thankfully we didn't have any major problems. It didn't seem that secure, there was something on the floor in the bathroom the entire time, and the housekeeper kept having troubles restocking the towels. The shower took a while to get a little bit of heat, but we actually had two showers and my son's gave heat right away. That was all pretty minor. The entertainment was mostly in Spanish. It was often difficult to get small enough bills to tip with, but that could probably be an issue anywhere. We made the best of it and really enjoyed the trip. For the price, it was okay, although last year I spent the same and the resort was a lot bigger and better. With fuel costs up, it is probably pretty decent value at $1500 per person from Canada.

Great Food and Staff, but a Maintenance Nightmare

    rating28 May 2026

I have mixed feelings about my recent stay from May 20th to May 24th. While the property has some great saving graces, the room maintenance was completely unacceptable.🌟 The Good: Food & StaffI want to give credit where credit is due. The food was absolutely delicious, and the wait staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout my entire stay. They truly provided excellent service and were a bright spot in an otherwise frustrating trip.🚨 The Bad: A Logistical and Maintenance DisasterUnfortunately, the guest rooms were a different story. I had to change rooms due to persistent, severe functionality issues.Rooms 2406 & 2408 (Night 1): Booked two rooms for my family. Both rooms had a squeaking AC units, an unstable ceiling fan, loose doorknobs (which actually caused a lockout), a shower door that blocked the toilet, and a toilet that wouldn't flush. This was a seperate reservation made ahead of my Swim Out Suite reservation.Room 4120 (Night 2): Swim Out Suite, not worth the money. The AC would not cool below 25°C, and there was zero WiFi. I was also never informed that the Altitude Club Lounge would be closed.Room 4117 (Nights 3 & 4): Swim Out Suite as well. Moved here for working WiFi, only for the shower to flood on Saturday, waterlogging the living area floor. To top it off, the AC in this room also failed to cool below 25°C, even after maintenance attempted to fix it.Final VerdictWhile the restaurant crew and wait staff deserve a round of applause, management desperately needs to address the basic functionality and upkeep of their rooms. Having consecutive failures across three separate rooms completely overshadowed the positives. I am currently awaiting an appropriate resolution from management.

Run far away from this place

    rating20 May 2026

Things went bad from the start. We had four people and confirmation for a 2 bedroom. What we got was two rooms that didn’t connect. When we asked to switch and this was not the room promised , they were very unhelpful and told us we could switch in 3 days . The room we stayed in was a pit . The AC was very loud and never hot lower than 80 degrees. We called down to the front desk and they sent a guy at midnight who fumbled with the thermostat and said he would be back but never did. This not a place to stay for peace and quiet . Very much a family with young kids place. If you want to eat you have to make reservations on an app 48 hrs in advance. The app didn’t work half the time. The food was mediocre and you have to order all the courses at once. There is nothing to on property after dinner . There is a crappy shack/bar on the roof that sells bad drinks. Puerto Vallarta is a 40 minute taxi ride away. The place is dated and not well maintained. Ricardo Verdayes, Director General at Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I sincerely regret that your stay did not meet your expectations and apologize for the inconveniences you experienced from the moment of arrival.I understand how frustrating it must have been to receive accommodations different from what was expected, especially while traveling with family. Additionally, I am very sorry for the issues with the air conditioning, the lack of follow-up from our team, and the difficulties you encountered with the restaurant reservation system. This is certainly not the level of service or comfort we aim to provide.Your comments regarding the maintenance of the property, dining experience, and evening atmosphere have been shared with the corresponding department leaders for immediate review and improvement. Guest feedback like yours is invaluable in helping us identify the areas where we must do better. Please accept my sincere apologies once again. We truly appreciate your visit and regret that we were unable to provide the relaxing and enjoyable experience you deserved.Kind regards,Ricardo VerdayesHotel Director
