Location

This hotel lies directly beside the beach in the tourist resort of Puerto Aventura, lying about 300 m from the town centre, in the heart of the Mayan Riviera. Links to the public transport network are to be found just 500 m away and Cancún airport lies around 1.5 hours from the hotel.

Facility

This spacious property offers 8 villas/houses as well as 328 rooms, which are located in two 4-storey buildings. The reception desk is open round the clock. Amenities include a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service and cash machine. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The resort has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. The resort has wheelchair-accessible facilities and a lift. There are a number of shops, including a supermarket and souvenir shop. The grounds of the complex feature a playground and a lovely garden. Rooms

Air conditioning and a fan ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. In most units, guests can enjoy a view of the sea from a balcony or terrace. The rooms have a double bed and a sofa bed. Separate bedrooms are available. Children's beds and extra beds can be requested for younger guests. A safe and a minibar are also available. For guests' convenience, units include a refrigerator and a tea/coffee station. An ironing set is provided for guests' convenience. Sport

The spacious pool area, which includes 5 outdoorpools, is a great place for guests to relax and take a refreshing dip. Even on cool days, swimming is always at option at the indoor pool. Kids can splash around in one of the 3 children's pools. A hot tub invites guests to soothe their muscles, and a poolside snack bar will take care of any hungry bellies. A short break or an entire afternoon on the sun terrace, which features sun loungers and parasols, is time well spent. The resort offers an extensive outdoor sports programme, including cycling/mountain biking, tennis, bocce, beach volleyball, basketball, golf and archery. A wide range of sports are available, including water sports such as windsurfing, canoeing, sailing, catamaraning, kayaking, snorkelling, water aerobics and aquafit or, for a fee, diving. Sports enthusiasts are also offered a wide range of indoor activities, including a gym, table tennis, billiards, darts, squash, yoga, callisthenics and aerobics. There is a wellness area with a spa, a sauna, a steam bath, a hammam, a beauty salon and a solarium. Subject to charge: massage treatments. Additional leisure activities include an entertainment programme, a kids' club, a dance club and a nightclub.

Meals

Dining facilities include a café and a bar. Guests can indulge their palates at 4 restaurants (non-smoking, air conditioning and high chairs). Refreshing drinks at the beach bar are a perfect way to enjoy warm weather. Catering options include full board and all-inclusive. All-inclusive holidaymakers enjoy special extras like snacks, in addition to a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. A continental breakfast buffet guarantees a great start to the day. Lunch (as a buffet) and dinner (a buffet, à la carte and a set menu) offer something for everyone. Diet meals and children's meals can be prepared on request. The complex also offers special catering options.

    This was our 14th trip to Catalonia Riviera Maya. It was outstanding as usual. Yes there was sargassum but having been in May many times we knew what to expect. The grounds are immaculate and lovingly cared for by the groundskeepers. All the staff are amazing and contradictory from some reviews they are the friendliest and most helpful people you would ever want to meet. We enjoyed most of the Ala carte restaurants with the Italian. Mexican, Steakhouse and Bloved our favourites. The sea was not accessible due to sargassum but there was a crew of men and one lady that came every day and worked tirelessly to try to get ahead of it. Unfortunately Mother Nature did not cooperate and it was a losing battle. The pools were clean and well maintained each day. We were in a privilege suite which was cleaned perfectly every day. We appreciated the air conditioner, a well stocked fridge and a clean immaculate room when we returned after a day in the sun. It may not be for everyone but I can say without a doubt that it is and will always be our “home away from home”.We have booked for our 15th stay in October and are counting the days.     Worst resort in Mexico, use your money somewhere else, don’t ruin your vacation and memories in the place.

    I’m writing this review while still at the resort, with two days left in my stay, and unfortunately, it’s been the worst experience I’ve had at any resort in Mexico.The location is poor, especially at this time of year, you can’t get to the beach, and the smell is stinky, and most nearby resorts don’t have this issue.What’s worse is the staff’s attitude—many have been outright disrespectful and seem to lack basic hospitality training, and don’t have the basic human rights.We were asked to join the Excessive Travelers program, but after the terrible service, we’ve decided against it. Communication has been a major issue; the night manager doesn’t speak English, and the translator was rude, ignoring me completely and speaking only to my husband.We tried to take dessert to our room to enjoy it later. and were told to use the bathroom roll napkins to carry it.We reserved a table at the Italian restaurant to celebrate our wedding, but still waited 45 minutes. When I asked for a window table, I was told to wait another 15 minutes, even though the table stayed empty during our entire dinner. While when we were late for 30m to the Asian restaurant, we were told that we missed our reservation because we were late?!It’s extremely disappointing to be treated this way, especially on our honeymoon. While a few staff members were nice, the overall disrespect has ruined our special occasion, and we definitely won’t be returning.Plus, they don’t clean the room every day, and they give silly excuses?!! Why would they wait until we get back to the room to clean it?! Until after 6PM ?! Note:- we stayed at the Privileged Romance, meaning we paid extra for everything!!!     The hotel was lovely. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Food was good. Lots of alcohol alternative drinks too. Room was lovely too.     A lovely hotel with polite staff but would recommend initially upgrading to privilege it’s worth it !

    A tale of 2 holidays . On arrival we had booked a standard room, and we was disappointed. The rooms have a dark wood colloquial finish and although immaculate in cleanliness and the bathrooms were new we felt was just not suitable for 3 guests(we had our 4 year old son with us)Buffet (although small in choice compared to other hotels we have stopped at) the food was always fresh, hot and tasty so can’t complain. Plenty of sun loungers available across the resort and overall very happy with resort. Was some building works going on but did not affect us enough to consider in my review. We upgraded to a privilege room after day one and couldn’t have been happier but this of course came at an additional cost. The access to the privilege restaurant meant we eventually cancelled all other restaurant reservations as this was superb although for evening service closed for a day a week I think (can’t recall the day just the disappointment when closed)The beach access through privilege was excellent as was the additional bar and pool access.Staff extremely polite and refreshing to see served with the same courtesy whether you tipped or not which is great.A bit quiet on an evening but with a 4 year old we was happy to wind down. On reflection as the staff were not expected to work till stupid o’clock everyday this meant they were happy and enthusiastic throughout our stay. Would we return absolutely but would just book privilege from day one. As with all hotels affected by seaweed but I wouldn’t let that put you off as my husband and son still managed to enjoy kayaks.
