Location

This hotel and holiday village enjoys a fantastic location with a park area directly beside the white sandy beach of Bahia Petempich, about 30 km to both Playa del Carmen and Cancún, where visitors will find a range of shops and entertainment venues. It is about 15 min by car to Puerto Morelos, and there is a hotel shuttle bus, which travels there several times a week. Cancún airport is around 20 km away.

Facility

The resort has a lift and features 97 rooms. The friendly staff at the reception desk are happy to answer any questions. Amenities include a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service and cash machine. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The complex has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. A number of shops, including a souvenir shop, are great for shopping or just browsing. The grounds of the resort feature a playground and a lovely garden. Additional facilities include a playroom. Parking spaces are available to guests travelling by car. Other services include a 24-hour security service, a childcare service, a car hire service, medical assistance, a transfer service, room service, a laundry service, a hairdresser and a hotel shuttle bus. Rooms

Air conditioning and central heating ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. Guests can relax and enjoy the sea views from the balcony or private terrace of some rooms. Rooms have a double bed, a queen-size bed or a king-size bed. Children's beds can be requested for younger guests. A safe and a desk are also available. Additional features include a mini fridge and a tea/coffee station. Further amenities include an ironing set and a trouser press. Equipped with a direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a radio, a DVD player and WiFi (no extra charge), the rooms provide many ways for guests to stay connected and entertained. Various wellness options are available at the resort, including a spa, a sauna, a steam bath, a beauty salon, massage treatments and anti-ageing treatments. Leisure facilities include a kids' club, live music and a dance club.

Meals

Dining facilities include 3 restaurants, a café and a bar. Refreshing drinks at the beach bar are a perfect way to enjoy warm weather. Catering options include bed and breakfast, full board and all-inclusive. A continental breakfast buffet guarantees a great start to the day. At lunch and dinner, guests can choose between à la carte and a set menu. Diet meals, gluten-free meals, vegetarian dishes and children's meals can be prepared on request. In addition, special catering options and snacks are available. For guests, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are included.

    My husband and I took our 11 yo daughter for spring break. Our family has traveled several times to different areas of Mexico and the Dominican Republic. This trip was by far our absolute favorite!!! Our daughter is an individual with autism. We chose a swim up suite so that if she wanted to take a break, we could stay in the water while she chilled in our room. It was fantastic! She enjoyed the pool, would take some time to cool off/relax in the room, and rejoin us when she was ready. The staff was fantastic! On our first night, when housekeeping came to provide turn down service, our daughter was chatting with the lady about cats. The next day, the same woman left our daughter two photo collages of pictures of her own cats, complete with a handwritten note. It was so thoughtful! Each day we would have breakfast, followed by a fun art or craft activity just outside the breakfast area. Built in souvenirs! The food was fantastic! We opted for Frank & Lola's for dinner twice because we all enjoyed our meals. On the topic of food: room service was awesome! On those days when we just wanted to chill in "our" pool, we ordered room service for lunch or snacks. The burgers were delicious and I personally loved the poke bowl. I found myself saying several times, "It feels like there are only, like, 20 people at this resort!" I loved that it is a smaller resort; also, you kind of "regionally" meet people whose rooms are in the same area as your room.We are beyond the craziness of blasting music and a spring break vibe. This resort feels more like a wellness resort! "Chill" is the perfect description. We loved the hammocks and hanging beds. The resort embodies the true Parrothead vibe of relax and enjoy.The beach was nice. The crews were working overtime to manage the sargassum-not an easy job at all. I give them lots of credit, and when I had extra bottled water at the beach, I made a point of offering it to the workers.One warning: we had a bad experience with a vendor. They set up one night, and my daughter found a ring and I found a bracelet that I liked. We haggled re: the price, and the vendor told me that he wouldn't charge tax if I paid by card. The next day, the charge showed and it was for MUCH more than we'd agreed upon. At that point, the vendors were long and never to be seen again. I highly recommend avoiding the vendors for this reason. Sad that the man was so dishonest.In all of our travels, our daughter has never asked to return to a resort, and this time she did! Almost immediately, she asked when we could come back. That speaks volumes about the level of the amenities, activities, and staff. We had the best time and we WILL definitely be back!     One of the best holidays we have ever had. Hotel spotless, staff amazing, couldn’t do enough for us.Tony the entertainment guy was great with his exercise classes. Choice of restaurants were great , fresh fish dishes were fabulous too.Brenda organised by Son and Daughter in laws wedding , was perfect.Would definitely recommend this hotel and will 100% go back.     Day Pass to Visit Familia

    While we stayed at a different resort, we did a day trip to Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancun to visit our friends - the staff at this beautiful resort. We had a great breakfast in the Beach House and were fortunate to see Edwin, Antonio, Luis and Esther! While relaxing at the pool, Shirley made us her special spicy margaritas and delivered great service with a smile! We didn’t have massages during this visit but did get to say hello to Reina and Ana from the spa. Manual, at the Compass Bar makes amazing drinks - smoked old-fashioned and specialty tequila cocktails! We’ll be back to stay so we can get to partake in his awesome drinks!As we wrapped up our visit, we recognized our bellman, Rafael, from prior visits. It’s great to see so many staff from prior visits continuing to provide top notch customer service!     Annual Anniversary trip, Jimmy Buffet style

    We spent 7 nights at Margaritaville Island Reserve, this is our second time at this location. We had an Ocean View Paradise Room, and while the quarters are tight they are clean and efficient for two people. We loved having a ground level room as our patio had a walk way straight to the adult only pool. The grounds are beautifully kept, and while their is some wear on the buildings everything is beautiful. The resort was undergoing some maintenance while we were there, painting and such, we are hoping that the pools may be updated as well as there are loose tiles that need replaced. There are only 3 restaurants for dinner, one is a buffet most nights that they theme to whatever activity they have going on. We did not care for the buffet at all, but the ala cart menus had enough on them that we did not get bored with the selections. Our only two complaints would be the inconsistency and quality of the liquor, Absolut is seems to be their top brand of vodka, and they have the flavored versions, but each bar has a different flavor as a free option then other flavors you must pay for. It was a bit confusing. And aside from Jack or Jim, the whiskey/bourbon selection was non existent. The evening nightlife is a bit lacking as well, on our first stay there was karaoke and live music nightly. They now rely on a DJ each night, which was not very good, and aside from that there was little going on. Overall we had a great stay though and would recommend this resort to anyone looking for a very laid back and relaxing vacation.
