  Maybe this place was good once but it isn't good at all now.

  We had a poor experience staying here. I was traveling with my wife and our two kids (age 9 and 6). We booked a room with two queen beds for 4 nights. After the first night I tried to find somewhere to move to, but there was no availability at anywhere close by. I'm giving this an overall 2 stars because the location was great. I would never stay here again and suggest that no one else should either. It was laughably bad, but the degree to which everything was broken was far beyond being charmingly shabby. It was scarcely inhabitable.The rooms looked like the pictures in the listing, except everything was broken. The TV, phone, safe, toilet paper holder, bathroom mirror, bathroom sink we all in various states of non-functional. The AC had two settings, arctic and off. There were no blankets, only a top sheet. The mattress was visibly moldy. They had no towels the first day we were there. The power was out for an entire day. There was loud dance music until 3am all but one night. There was loud construction in the building every morning by 7am. The wifi was intermittent. The desk staff were very friendly and apologetic. My wife's necklace went missing from our room. She is certain she hung it on a hook, but it was not there when we returned from the beach.The location was great and very walkable. We could walk to all the shops and restaurants and to some beaches, as well as to the ferry to CozumelWe did not feel unsafe at any time, including walking back at night.We got a taxi to do a couple excursions one to a cenote, and one to Xel-Ha which were both great - and arranged car service to and from the airport. We did not need a rental car at any point.When I booked, the listing said that breakfast was included but I saw no evidence of this at the hotel and given the lack of cleanliness in the common areas I would not have been inclined to dine there.I was polite, but frank in speaking with the very nice woman at the front desk while we were checking out. She said that she understood all of my complaints and said they were trying to improve. My cousin stayed at this hotel 10 years ago and said it was cool and great then. It appears to me that they have not done any maintenance or upgrades in the intervening years.

  Simple and Good

  We liked the vibe at the SoHo, the staff were very nice and welcoming. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. The location is really great although it was very noisy on a couple nights of our stay being so close to the action on 5th Ave. I feel like this hotel has so much overlooked potential where they could charge a little more with some added touches of hospitality like comforters on the beds, washcloths and hand towels and some detailed cleaning around the property. Some updated furniture in the lobby and guest rooms would add some comfort but overall we enjoyed our visit.

  Great Value/ Perfect Location.

  This property is only a few short steps to 5th ave. And a BLOCK from an OXXO. The hotel has an artistic feel with artwork from local artist that are available for sale. A massive water fall in the lobby. The lobby is an open air lobby. So no air conditioning. Which is why they received a 4 instead of a 5. My patents are older and they are visiting and the heat is hard on them. While waiting in the lobby with no air conditioning. It was a bit hard for them. The rooms are clean and spacious, hotel is close to food, shopping and the beach. Will be back for sure.

  Not great, but good enough

  Not terrible, not great. Hot tub was out of order, plumbing was veeery delicate (not unusual in Playa), just one thin towel and thin pillow per person. Also, since there seemed to be very few guests, not sure why they put us at the end of the building that adjoined another building under construction - so there was construction noise all day, every day. But that's sort of on me, as I never asked to move. However, it was very clean (not an easy task in Playa) and the bed was comfortable. All in all, a good bargain. We got what we paid for.

  Disappointed of breakfast

  This was the second time I stayed in this hotel because I had a very good experience first time!They changed breakfast,it's 9-11.Most of the time we left the hotel before,so we could asked for take away breakfast for the next morning!a bottle of water,2 piece of bread with jam and butter and some fruits.Or if we stayed it's was the same with hot beverages and a juice!7 years ago we could have an early breakfast in the restaurant and we could pick something from the menu(for example eggs).So eventually I spend money on breakfast as I like my first meal of the day.The mattress is a bit tired too,no hand towel and no glasses in the room too.
