Budget hotel which needs some TLC

Staff at reception were very welcoming and informative. We were supposed to have a deluxe room but it was very basic. The bathroom needed a good clean. The restaurant was really disorganised on our first night and we and others had to wait over 40 mins for just a main meal. Then my chicken burger was only like warm. Staff weren’t attentive or friendly.Breakfast was limited but ok.Pool area was good and Spa treatments were excellent for the cost!Wasn’t really anywhere nearby for meals out so it was a taxi each time which are cheap and readily available. borjs HotelOfficial, Guest Services / Front Office at Borjs Hotel Suites & Spa, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.However, we find your comments quite contradictory and somewhat surprising. Cleanliness remains a priority for us, and had any issue been reported during your stay, our team would have responded immediately.As for the restaurant, delays can exceptionally occur during peak hours, but waiting over 40 minutes without notifying our team at the time does not allow us the opportunity to correct the situation. Our staff is consistently recognized for their professionalism and attentiveness, which makes your comment quite unusual.We also find it worth mentioning that you appreciated the value of our spa treatments and the pool area, which are key elements of the guest experience.Finally, being in a calm and relaxing area is part of the charm of our location, and taxis being affordable and accessible is often seen as an advantage by many of our guests.We regret that your experience did not fully meet your expectations, but we believe it would have been more constructive to share your concerns during your stay rather than after your departure.

Lovely staff, so helpful. Breakfast was fine, small but most bases covered! Bed was comfortable and shower good. I got a super cheap deal, and would agree that it’s more three than four star, but the food available is excellent and pool area well maintained. The rest of the hotel is a bit tired, scuffed tiles, layers of peeling paint on floors and woodwork, and the spa is not a spa. You need to pay for access. There are treatments available and other than that there’s only a Hammam, and no sauna as advertised. It was pleasant enough, but broken, very dirty, tiny plastic white sliders provided (I asked for larger but they were adamant I had to wear the size 4 sandals on size 8 feet), dressing gowns yellow and frayed and the hammam itself is full of supermarket own brand products - and the plastic curtain to go in was reminiscent of entering an industrial fridge. If you’re looking for a spa hotel go elsewhere, but it was a pretty good hotel for the price. Taxis readily available outside. 10 mins to the beach, but very much on the outskirts, about £4/5 for a taxi to the marina. Same price to the Médina, which is lovely. Do confirm a price with drivers first, a couple tried to charge double.
