    Middlesbrough aged couple's experience

    rating24 May 2026

Location was excellent, 5 mins from beach restaurants and shops. Staff were lovely, and the apartment block was very quiet. Please be prepared for very basic rooms, we weren't so were initially disappointed but once you get past that you realised you have everything you need. Eg one plug socket , no TV, there was a hot plate but a bit like camping took 20mins to boil a kettle. However there was a hot drinks machine outside the hotel door (approx 20p) a cafe serving breakfast (£2) 2 doors along and a convenience store 5mins walk so just meant spent money in local area rather than hotel which feels good. Also they cleaned rooms and replaced towels every day. Really enjoyed it. Would recommend getting as much lower denomination currency as you can , every thing is really cheap and sometimes places struggled to give change. Right at end discovered, places would take sterling. Wish we'd known sooner, cos could have used for tips in a pinch.

Cheap and cheerful, you get what you pay for

The hotel is quite basic, but it is clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We stayed in an apartment that was very roomy, had been recently painted by the looks of it, it was spotless. We had a small kitchen which had a 2 ring electric stove. We only used it to boil the kettle but it took a while, couldn't imagine doing any cooking in it. The bathroom could have benefitted from a shower curtain to prevent water going all over the bathroom, there was a shower curtain but on the side where the window was for privacy, tended to have a shower sat in the bath, the bath and sink really need replacing. Hot water was a problem, we kept finding we didn't have any, they told us it was switched on at 7pm but it wasn't always, a trip to reception sorted it out but it was a pain. There's no aircon but we didn't need it the apartment was airy and cool. The pool area is nice, plenty of sun beds, some could do with replacing and watch out for seagulls pooing as they fly over. There are no separate pool towels, you can use the bath towels but you only get one each, so not practical when you need a shower after sunbathing all day. The hotel is in a great location, lots of shops and restaurants close by, beach is about 5 min walk away. TIPS - bring a washing up sponge, tea towel and a bit of washing up liquid, bring a pool towel. There's a lot of smoking here, we are non smokers and don't particularly like eating in an ash tray, even inside some restaurants you can smoke. At the beach we found that El Torro, Jade and O Playa did not allow smoking inside, all were excellent restaurants. The cable cars were about a 20 min walk or 40 dhm in a taxi, we did a food tour in the souk which was excellent, that was aboyt 30 minute walk and we hired some bikes to go to the marina and cycled the full length of the promenade. Everying here is very reasonably price. Overall we were happy with our stay, it was a last minute cheap holiday.

4★ – A peaceful, well-located Moroccan retreat with real soul

    rating26 Apr 2026

My teenage daughter and I recently stayed at Residence Igoudar, and honestly, I think some of the negative reviews don’t fully reflect what this place offers, it really depends on what you’re looking for.For us, it was exactly what we needed. The location is a huge plus. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the beach and promenade, with easy access to taxis and buses right outside. There’s also the option to book excursions directly through the hotel, which is convenient if you want to explore.I came to Agadir needing peace. I didn’t want loud music or a party atmosphere, I wanted somewhere calm, grounded, and close to the sea. This place gave me that. There’s a quiet energy here that allowed me to properly rest and reset. The rooms are styled in traditional Moroccan décor, which added to the authenticity of the experience. There’s a small kitchenette if you want to self-cater. We’re quite wellness-focused, so we preferred to buy fresh local produce (Carrefour and Marjane is nearby and Glovo deliveries worked well) and prepare simple healthy meals ourselves. One thing I have to highlight is the cleanliness. The standard was genuinely 5-star. The housekeeping staff are incredible, so warm, hardworking, and attentive. You can tell they take real pride in what they do, even in the heat, and it doesn’t go unnoticed. The beds are firm, which was actually perfect for us. My daughter is a professional athlete, and I have a back condition, so proper support is important, and we both slept really well. What surprised me the most was the beauty of the hotel itself. From the outside, you would never expect it. But once you step inside, the grounds open up into something really special, palm trees, peaceful courtyards, and a kind of vintage charm that feels authentic rather than manufactured. I spent hours sitting outside taking tea and appreciating the surroundings. That said, I want to be honest as well. The hotel isn’t ideal if you have mobility issues, there are quite a lot of stairs throughout the complex. The sun loungers could definitely do with an upgrade, as the fabric has lost its firmness, which made them uncomfortable for me with my back. The baths in the bathrooms are a little worn, with unsightly chipped enamel in the tubs that would benefit from being renovated or updated into showers. The kitchenette is also quite compact, so it’s more suited to light use rather than full cooking. But for me, none of that took away from the overall experience. If you’re looking for a peaceful, character-filled place to stay, somewhere that feels more traditional and less commercial, this is a great choice. It allowed me to slow down, reconnect, and just be present, which is exactly what I needed. We would definitely return… I’m already missing it ❤️
