Really disappointing stay – serious hygiene issues, but resolved by easyJet afterwards

We stayed at Valeria Jardins d'Agadir as a family at the end of August 2026. I hate leaving negative reviews, but our experience was well below what you’d expect from a 4-star resort, and I want to share an honest account for other families looking to book. ?The main issue for us was the standard of hygiene, especially around food and drink. We saw waiters placing dirty cutlery straight back onto table napkins, and partially used water bottles being topped up and put back in the fridges for other guests. The absolute lowest point was watching a cat defecate under a dining table in the restaurant. When we alerted the staff, a waiter laughed it off, and someone eventually just swept it across the floor with a standard dustpan and broom without properly cleaning or sanitising the area. ?Unsurprisingly, two of us ended up quite ill during the week. It got to the point where we completely lost trust in the food and spent extra money eating outside the resort for the rest of our holiday. ?The hotel itself is showing its age. The rooms and public areas felt tired and dusty, the reception chairs and sun loungers were stained, and the pool water was cloudy with missing filter covers and loose tiles around the edges. To top it off, the Wi-Fi was almost non-existent, which made it really stressful trying to contact customer support while we were actually there. Once we got back to the UK, I submitted a formal complaint to easyJet Holidays with our photos and videos. To their credit, they listened, took the issues seriously, and settled our complaint with financial compensation for the disruption and loss of enjoyment. While I appreciate easyJet making things right after the fact, the hotel management really needs to pull its weight and sort out basic hygiene, housekeeping, and safety standards. If you're planning a trip here, I'd strongly recommend checking the latest guest reviews first to see if things have improved. I have no doubt that the hotel customer relations will comment, as they have with all the reviews - their response is dutiful rather than genuine, and I would expect nothing less than them attempting to retrospectively defend themselves.

We had an amazing time. There's always something to do, you could never get bored. The animation team are great. The shws and dances are very impressive. The food is really nice, lots of Moroccan food to try. And the drinks are very strong!
