It's surrounded by large and very good quality hotels meaning that the local clientele is better than the rest of the area. Once renovated with some tweaks to staffing and much improved cleanliness and facilities, this hotel has the potential to be absolutely fantastic! For now, it's okay for a short stay if you can overlook the appalling cleanliness and other issues (see below).👍🏼Things we liked👍🏼- Location. It is within a 5 minute walk to Casa Port train station with nearby Tram stops, restaurants and the Old Medina.- Omelettes made to order during breakfast. Breakfast overall is good enough with fresh smoothies, orange juice, water, hot drinks, salad, fruit (could do with more), traditional Moroccan soup and bread/pastries with jams.- A sea view from some rooms in the hotel and we were fortunate enough to have one.- Good shower pressure and temperature.- External security staff for the hotel and basement nightclub are extremely friendly and also speak very good English; sharing information about the area.- Beds are comfortable with a mattress topper on but no protector. However, mattresses are clean.- 2 spare pillows as well as a blanket in the wardrobe.- Safe to use at no extra charge although I couldn't get it open!- Curtians are black out meaning a good night's sleep in a dark room but disturbed by sunrise!👎🏼Things we didn't like👎🏼- Enormous lack of cleanliness. The carpets are disgusting - stained, hairy and definitely not hoovered. Towels are stained , threadbare with holes in.- Breakfast staff have very poor attitudes and manners. They don't even smile and grunt.- No aircon despite advertising it on all platforms.- No television signal whatsoever meaning no channels.- No toileteries upon arrival and 1 towel in a twin room.- Complimentary tray without milk, proper cups (only small paper given).- Breakfast items never refilled or replenished. Just the infamous "finished" word when asked for more with 2 hours left of breakfast time.- Only 1 lift in use due to trades using the other one to transport materials.- Not all plug sockets worked in the room and one (for the kettle) was hanging out of the wall with wires bare.- Kettle doesn't turn off so it dangerously keeps on boiling.📜Things that need attention/improvement 📜- Closing the hotel during the enormous renovation projects.- Staff training in languages but also in friendliness. Only one female receptionist was friendly and kind. She shared us the Wi-Fi password whilst we were still looking at other hotels in the area. However, there are multiple Wi-Fi connections and not all work upstairs in the rooms so that was a dilemma that we encountered with another female receptionist.- Use wet floor signs when spraying and wiping the floor.- Curtians and nets to be repaired and replaced where appropriate as they are hanging off the rail. This hotel is no longer a Best Western but is now privately owned. Whilst the ongoing works are much needed, it speaks volumes that they've decided to still sell rooms and receive many poor reviews due to appalling cleanliness, lack of air con, no TV signal in most of the rooms and other ongoing issues.

Excellent value in a good location
29 Dec 2024
Excellent value: centrally located (minutes from Casa Port train station; Hassan II mosque, old medina, Rick's Cafe, good restaurants). The best thing about Hotel Toubkal is its staff - very friendly and helpful. The building itself is dated, a renovation would help. New carpets would greatly improve the hotel's look and feel.ROOM: Clean, comfortable bed, 2 chairs and a desk. Sufficiently roomy to sit and have a glass of wine or whatever. The bathroom is split in two: one small narrow room with a toilet only; and a much larger room with a counter, sink, and tub with shower. Room cleaning is VERY efficient. The Wifi was VERY GOOD throughout the hotel - never had any problems.RESTAURANT: VERY good breakfast (with a delightful Maître' D). Buffet eggs, sausages, Moroccan hot breakfast bites. You can also order freshly prepared eggs any way you like them. Wide assortment of excellent breads & pastries. Reasonably good coffee from a push-button machine (only 3 choices: espresso, expresso lungo, instant coffee). Dinner is only a very limited buffet (MAD 200). We never had dinner there, since for 200 MAD you can get much better meals from other nearby restaurants.BAR: Although the hotel technically has a bar, it is always empty, and the only time we tried it, they were not sure if they had any beer, and when they did find it, they only had 2 bottles -one Bud and one Heineken, both warm. But if you want a (nice) bar, the Royal Mansour, Sofitel, Novatel, and Ibis all all within a one-minute walk. (The Royal Mansour is gorgeous, but very pricey.)So, if you do not demand the 5-star experience, the Toubkal offers excellent value for a centrally located base in downtown Casablanca. We would definitely stay here again.

Fine room but the WiFi was appalling. Breakfast was fine but it had a bar. We asked for a drink in evening but only wine & Smirnoff ice on offer, for a hotel !! I wouldn’t stay here again especially as WiFi so bad. Girls on reception but the gentleman was dismissive when I mentioned WiFi

Terrible Hotel - stay away

I would not recommend this hotel for the money you spend1- The heat did not work, we were given a small dirty heater.2- Cigarettes strong smoke comes from the side door. Luckily we asked twice to switch rooms.3- Towels were very few, three for my wife and I, and very poor quality.4- bathroom flush broke, and did not get fixed.5- the entrance lobby had smokers in the couches accross.6- Not sure why the staff speaks French, while this is Morocco.7- You feel everyone wants you to tip them even with no good service.8- The outside entrance had construction that made it hard for the luggage wheels.9- entrance had a scanner that has no function, beeps, but noone cares.10- Overall, very bad experience. I will never go back there.11- Lastly, the room above me had people drunk partying untill 6 am.
