  Spacious rooms and good beds. Nice common areas. Dinners and breakfast ok however did run out of food all the time. They refilled if you asked for it. Pretty good location, close to the beach and 20 min from to the city walls. AC did only work for heating. Bathtub was not cleaned between guests or during your stay. No refill of water or teabags during your stay. Not a 4-star hotel.   Large, beachfront hotel near camel/horse rentals. Stayed two nights; saw two cockroaches. Large room with two single beds (not ideal), scratchy sheets, TV w/ good reception (remote needed new batteries), safe, mini fridge, complimentary bottled water, kettle/tea/instant coffee, large bathroom w/ robes, toothbrush/paste, razor, shampoo/conditioner/gel/lotion in-shower dispensers (2 of which were empty) tub shower guard with 1 inch of space underneath soaks the floor in a matter of seconds, terrible climate control, breakfast with omelette station outside (by pool), limited tea selection, nice staff.   We stayed here for 5 nights after staying in an amazing Riad in Marracesh and found it to be rather souless.The bathroom area was dissapointing with cracked tiles around the shower. We were never informed of the building work thet was going on which made being by the pool uncomfortable with the constance noise of jack hameringArriving for breakfast at 8.30 to find that they had run out of yoghurt! not goog enough for a 5 star hotelThe most positive person was the doorman who was always smiling Atlas Essaouira, Guest Services / Front Office at Atlas Essaouira & Spa, responded to this review Dear William,Thank you for sharing your feedback with us.   We arrived on Christmas Day - the hotel was clean and looked nice. There was a missing seal on the shower door which meant that when we showered the floor got very wet. Fire alarms went off that night at 2am, 6am and 6.20am. When my daughter got out of bed in the morning she slipped over in the puddle of water by the window as the hotel is not water proof! There was rain water pouring down from the window inside. When I complained to reception they said they would send someone to have a look, several phone calls and 2 visits to reception later (3 hours) somebody arrived and informed us that lots of the rooms had the same issue as they don’t usually have much rain. I would not recommend staying here in the winter/rainy months.   Tired rooms and lacking individuality

  The Atlas Essaouria is advertised as a 5 star. It does have all of the amenities to give it 5 stars. However, it is the build quality, maintenance and poor cleaning that pulls it down. On first appearance the lobby looks beautiful with fresh flowers, open and looks ‘grand’. However, the rooms are very tired and lacking any real decor or local flavour. You could be anywhere in the world.We agree with many of the other comments about rooms not being cleaned thoroughly and maintenance issues (doors to cabinets did not fit or were hanging off hinges etc). Chrome handles and other items were tarnished or had finger prints. Much was rusty, possibly due to the salt water? Or dousing the rooms with water when mopping as the corridor was wet mopped and water came over a third of the way into the lounge from under the door.We had the Ambassador Suite so can only note about our provision. The rooms were spacious with a separate lounge room and bedroom, large bathroom with walk in shower, separate toilet/bidet area and double sinks. We also had a large balcony overlooking the beach and Atlantic as the Atlas is just across from the beach. I would dispute there is a private beach as the beach appeared to be for the public and is open for all. As it is beach front it can be noisy as the main road to the town is directly in front of the hotel.A large TV was in the lounge room and the bedroom.We were surprised to find that water was only provided free on the first day. After this any water, coffee etc had to be paid for. There is a fridge.Breakfast was good and we were happy with the options available. There was hot, cold food: cheese and salami style meats, breads, pastries and cakes, cereals and an outside egg station. The lady making omelettes and pancakes was a real trojan working her socks off as there was no let up in orders. These fresh eggs were delish! Coffee is from a machine and is not that great.The bar staff are attentive and helpful but smoking is prevalent inside which we did not like. Bar food was available such as pasta, pizza and local options. A good local red wine is sold by the glass.There is a lovely courtyard and pool area, but we did not use it.We arrived just before new year and there had been no thought about how to include new arrivals who did not know there was going to be party or needed to pre-book. No provision for vegetarian, although there was reassurance something would be done.
