Location

The hotel enjoys a stunning location by the entrance of the old walled city (around 500 m away) and directly opposite the bay with it's wide sandy beaches and Mogador island. The market, restaurants, shops, and the sea all lie within 800 m of the hotel. Essaouira airport is located just 15 km away, Marrakech is around 175 km, Agadir is roughly 180 km away and Casablanca is located approximately 350 km away.

Facility

Guests can enjoy the pleasant ambience of one of the 74 rooms, including suites, 21 single rooms and 33 double rooms. At this hostel, which includes a lift, guests are warmly welcomed by the English- and French-speaking staff. A check-in/check-out service is available at the 24-hour reception desk in the lobby round the clock. Amenities available at the hostel include a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe and currency exchange service. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. There are a number of shops, including a supermarket. The grounds of the hostel feature a playground and a lovely garden. Additional facilities include a TV room. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage or in the car park. Rooms

Air conditioning and central heating ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. Guests can relax and enjoy the sea views from the balcony or private terrace of some rooms. Rooms have a double bed, a queen-size bed, a king-size bed or a sofa bed. Extra beds can be requested. A safe and a minibar are also available. A trouser press is provided for guests' convenience. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a radio, an alarm clock and WiFi (no extra charge) are provided as well. Bathrooms are equipped with a shower, a bathtub and a bidet. A hairdryer and bathrobes are available for daily use. The hostel has family rooms, non-smoking rooms and smoking rooms.

Sport

The outdoor pool complex includes a children's swimming area and is ideal for working out or just relaxing. Sun loungers and parasols are available on the sun terrace. Refreshing drinks are served at the poolside snack bar. For guests who wish to keep active, cycling/mountain biking and horse riding are available. Guests can partake in various water sports, including windsurfing and paddle boating. In addition, jet skiing is offered for a fee. The hostel's location is particularly ideal for skiers. A wellness area with a spa provides a great opportinity to unwind after a long day. Additional services available for a fee include a steam bath and massage treatments Additional leisure activities include an entertainment programme, a kids' club, a dance club and a nightclub.

Meals

Various dining options are available, including a café and a bar. The restaurant has air conditioning and high chairs for children. Catering options include bed and breakfast, half board and full board. A delicious and varied buffet is prepared for breakfast and dinner every day, and a set menu can be ordered at lunch and dinner. Diet meals and children's meals can be prepared on request. The hostel also offers special catering options.

    The Hotel des Iles has an excellent location, sitting as it does just across a road from the beach, only a couple of minutes walk to an entrance into the medina and not much more to the famous Squala fort by the port of Essaouira.It is a very nice 4* hotel in a splendid building set in nice grounds with a lovely big swimming pool. I did however feel that the outside looks tired and is in need of a facelift (repainting) and that paint flaking off the wooden guard rail on the balcony of our room so that too is in really urgently in need of re-painting. There was also a crack in the glass of the balcony door.Our room was comfortable, nice furniture and an excellent bed. The other facilities in it such as the bathroom were fine except that the both the toilet seat and cistern were loose. We managed with that but they should be looked at soon and fixed. We had a nice view from the room but the main window with a view of the Squala fort was very dirty and so marred that view. Despite reporting the window to the concierge, no one bothered to come to clean it in the seven days that we were there. At night the big window rattled a bit too.As to other services, we found that the internet in our part of the hotel was very poor, having no connection most of the time and also the TV had a very poor reception. We were however able to connect on the ground floor and the TV both in the main lounge and the bar outside did have a good picture too. I found it surprising that there was no little safe in the room which is very common to most hotels and that there was no “Do not Disturb / Please clean the room” notice to hang on the door, resulting in the chambermaid coming to do her work before we left the room for the day. Not her fault and not embarrassing but a door card would have been handy.The staff are very pleasant and the services offered here, such as breakfast and evening meal are ok. Breakfast was certainly not bad, but the buffet in the evening which we only tried twice in our stay little uninspiring, having I thought a fairly limited choice of dishes when compared to many of the other hotels and resorts around the world.The pool is very nice. It is quite big and when we were there, very quiet. Only a very few other guests used it, so we were alone there most of the time which was so peaceful. We were surprised to discover that the hotel does not supply towels for the pool and so we had to take bath towels from the room every time that we went for a swim. That put an extra strain on us having dry towels available when we wanted to shower and took a day or so to resolve.Over all however despite the points that I have brought attention to, we did enjoy our stay at this rather nice hotel. we really enjoyed the ambience and the good location. Our time spent relaxing at the pool and the overall comfort of the accommodation and surroundings.

    We were due to stay there for 2 nights as part of a travel group. Got to the hotel and our alarm bells were ringing on the way to our room as we saw the seagulls and ducks enjoying themselces in the pool. The patio for the room was covered in bird droppings as was the patio furniture. The room we were offered had no AC, no fridge and no safe deposit box. Masonry had fallen of patio roof supports and hadn't been repaired for years. SOME Electrical supply connections were what I would call potentially dangerous with exposed AC terminals in full view. Very handy lovcation for beach and medina etc. if you want to take the risk. Our travel company found us much much better and safer accommodation quickly as we refused to spend a minute more at this hotel. Self acclaimed 4 star hotel and I wonder what rating scale that came from.

    This hotel is well located just across from the seafront in Essaouira and only a few minutes walk away from the harbour and the the alleys of the old town. It's clearly been a grand hotel in its day. The main building has original features. We were accommodated in one of the bungalows around the pool and garden area. These buildings were probably state of the art when they were build but are now showing their age. They are in need of a refresh to bring them into the modern era. Bedding, towels, etc were clean.We had a couple of evening meals here, and breakfasts. These were OK.

    Literally the worst hotel i've ever been to. I stayed here with my friend two nights and i hated every second of it. How could this be a 4 stars hotel, it barely deserves 2 stars !! The hotel is very dirty and the staff are not even helpful. The pillows and bedding are very dirty, i even found a hair on my pillow and my friend found toothpaste on hers, and they were also torn apart, and we talked to the receptionist about this twice and they wouldn't even do something, and when we insisted they sent someone who just literally left a bed cover on top of our beds as if they're saying we should make the bed, when it's literally a 4 stars hotel so this should be done for you. We also found many bugs and when we couldn't kill one we wanted to call someone from the reception but no one was there, so we had to let a stranger in our room to help us. They do not care about their customers and everything is so dirty and disgusting. If you ever plan to come here please don't, this is definitely the worst place i've ever been to.
