    A warm authentic experience

    rating05 Apr 2026

A friendly Riad, helpful staff, beautiful rooftop, looks exactly like the pictures. A very authentic experience as they are located just outside the medina of the Fes el-Bali so you get to see the non-romanticised version (a work neighbourhood) before heading into the tourist medina after a short 5-10 minute walk. If you are confident you can buy fresh bread from a local stall just around the corner for 20 dirham (0.2 euro cents) and there are local stalls selling oranges and mint. The staff are very helpful and they will walk you to and from your taxi transfer (when you first arrive and depart) if they know your arrival and departure transfer times as the main drop off point is just around the corner from the Riad (at the main round about) due to Fes's narrow old streets not being very car accessible. Staff provided us with Arabic directions (to show taxi drivers) to the places we wanted to go (like the el-Jdid and Ville Nouvelle) and explained expected local taxi costs which was very helpful. We got around all ourselves but they offer private guides and their own in house lunch and dinner options which we found quite overpriced (for Morocco but reasonably cheap for European pricing, about 12-19 euros for a main) so opted out of but they are helpful if you are not a confident traveller as you need to be to navigate the area as google maps does not work in the medina (Map.me does work very well though) and there is a culture of selling and haggling (people may try to guide you and ask for money for it you're not cautious, if you say no and keep walking they give this up easily and quickly).Bear in mind if you don't book the suite rooms (we had a twin, the suites are spacious and gorgeous) they are very small and the shower sprays onto the toilet but they are clean and beautifully decorated. They also offer a lovely traditional breakfast with fresh breads, olives, honeys, orange juice, coffee, tea etc. which is stunning. Beautiful mint tea is complimentary on arrival and a gorgeous rooftop with views across the medina and to the mountains. From there and inside the building you can hear traditional music from the wedding venue in the next door building in the evenings (this can be loud at night but its part of the experience of Fes). There is also a lovely little bird that comes in through the roof to sing in the morning at about 8am after the call to prayer sounds across the city.

A little off the beaten track...

    rating27 Mar 2026

This is a large riad on the edge of the less touristed part of the Medina. The staff is extremely helpful and available at all hours. There was parking nearby. It's also close to the roundabout at Sidi Boujida for taxis. It's also within walking distance, and downhill to the area with the tanneries and the craft center, and Place Seffarin. Our room was on the small size, but I knew that in advance. The breakfast was excellent, and they cooked eggs to order. I found the wifi in the room to be iffy, but down in the huge central courtyard it was first rate. Although the bathroom is small, there's lots of hot water, and the shower had lots of water pressure. Overall excellent value for money.

You get what you pay for

A quaint experience, with courtyard living, my wife sold it to me as our 4th destination of Fes in Morocco. Climbing 3 flights of steep stairs with a suitcase was not my idea of fun. No kettle, no fridge are just some of the expectations of travellers. To make a coffee or teaBreakfast was nice! As they say you get what you pay for!!

Located somewhere off the beaten track but lovely inside

    rating20 Sept 2024

I thoroughly enjoy my time at the Riad jamai, that staff there were absolutely amazing they were pleasant and helpful and the fact they can switch bilingual was amazing 👌🏻 our saffron suite was beautiful and well cleaned, breakfast was lovely ☺️ I struggle with everything being in French but that’s what google translate is for 😂 we had clothes ironed and meals in the Riad an we couldn’t fault them My only negative was that the area to me was a little bit overwhelming and scary to say the least when out without a guide etc! There is not really much food place around the area either, so paying the Riad prices are to be expect as their food is lovely! Ensure u have cash as no card payment and I would suggest a private transfer back to the airport(roughly) 20euro the staff took us to meet the taxi driver which was great! Unfortunately I did see a few cockroaches in our room and on the terrace which gave me the absolute fear but it was only on the night of the storm so I’m hoping that was the reason ☺️ but other than that I would certainly return and hope future travellers enjoy the Riad as we did ❤️ once again I would like to mention how lovely the staff are! ❤️

    Fantastic

This riad is in the very heart of the Fez Medina! You should definitely go there if you are interested in a real Moroccan experience. The structure is stunning and waking up with the singing of the birds in the courtyard is incredible. The staff has been very kind and organised a tour with a local guide and provided us with a breakfast “to go” since we left early in the morning. You can also eat inside, the pastilla is high recommended!
