    Beautiful, restful riad with wonderful staff and food

    I am so glad we chose Dar les Cigognes for our four night stay in Marakech. We loved everything about it. The riad itself is so beautiful; peaceful, restful and cool. The roof terasse is a wonderful place to relax and take coffee and meals. The rooms are very well equipped with lovely big, comfy beds. The locationis perfect, just outside the city walls, with every attraction within easy walking distance. Special mention goes to the staff:Hayst, the Manager, and Hajiba the Concierge are so warm and welcoming and genuinely enjoy making sure that your stay in Marakech is a delightful as possible. They are supremely knowledgable about all thr local attractions and will arrange cars or taxis for any and all necessary transfers or excursions. Our waiter was Abdo and he was soattentive and caring and sweet. Which brings me to the food: it really is the best we found in Marakech - honestly I would recommend esting exclusively at the riad, as the quality and setting is unsurpassed in the city.My wife and I also enjoyed a vigorous and rejuvenating hammam bath, expertly applied by Amina, who was as lovely as all the team in the riad.I have travelled very extensively over decades and can honestly say I have never enjoyed a property and hospitality so much as I have here - if you are planning a stsy in Marakech you MUST stay at Dar les Cigognes.

    Genuine, warm welcome in a beautiful riad conveniently located near many of the interesting sights in the city. Behind the discreet door is an oasis of cool water and orange trees, extremely comfortable beds (great pillows!) and cozy, individually decorated rooms. My room was dark and cool and I had one of the best night’s sleep in yearsBreakfast and dinner on the rooftop were excellent, and served with professionalism and warmthThe owner and concierge are both lovely, with lots of recommendations for things to do, places to eat, and so on

    What hides behind the door in wall?

    This is a classic riad hotel, just a solid door in a blank wall, hiding all its charms from the world. Very conveniently placed for exploring the Kasbah and Mellah as it’s just a couple of minutes walk from the Place des Ferblantiers.The hotel is based on two interlinked courtyards which keeps the rooms nice and cool. The roof terrace where breakfast is served is lovely. Though, if you have a problem with stairs, you might want to consider a different type of hotel.The room was a nice size and personally I loved the bath and the quality of the refillable toiletries impressed.The hotel can arrange transport and this is where one of the conveniences shows, the hotel is on a road and there is no loading of the bags on to a hand cart like there is for the riads in the souqs. This also makes it a good place to get a taxi from, stand outside the front door for no more the 2 minutes and one will offer you a ride.The dinner was well executed with the menu having some choices not seen elsewhere. Whoever cooks the breakfast does a really good omelette, a lot of more expensive hotels should send staff to the attached cookery school for lessons.Special mention must go to the concierge who was super welcoming

    Home away from home and new friends.

    Location was perfect! We arrived Thursday January 22 late afternoon and stayed till Monday January 26. We received a warm welcome from Hayatt. Stepping into the Riad i felt like stepping in to History. A feeling I can't really describe. We were offered some delicious mint tea while going over the services offered. Our room was clean and beautiful. a touch of romance with rose peddles was added. The service during our stay was just excellent! we were made to feel special, anything we needed was to just let them know. Our dinner and lunch was amazing. The Riad is in walking distance of the Souk market, and the big square where you can find the day/night market. We had the hammam and massage which were amazing. We left the Riad with a bit of a heavy heart as the staff made us really feel at home. The only issue we had was the Wifi. no able to have strong service through out the room. All in all I gave this Riad a 5 star. I would recommend this place to friends and family. I would definitely stay there again.

    Hayatt and her team made our visit to Morocco one of the most memorable trips we have ever made. A genuine interest in making us happy in this beautiful Road and discreetly constantly checking in on us made the whole experience a step above a normal hotel.
