Awful is polite as I can't swear (and I wanted to)

    rating09 Aug 2017

My cousin picked this venue for her wedding and as a family we rented the 9 bedrooms for 3 days and payed a set price per room for bed and breakfast. (On top of the venue rental costs)We were all under the impression from the signage and by what the manager promised we would be catered for and could purchase lunches and evening meals for a set price with the only condition that the manager needed notice on the day if we required meals. We were a party of 18 adults (one very pregnant) and one child under 5.The venue looks the part and what the wedding planner did was out of this world BUT our experience was spoiled by the management of this property.Upon arriving we discovered that the bride/groom had been lied to about food and drink... being told that because it was hired as a venue that was now our responsibility (this place is not near any local restaurants or shops). Also upon arrival and being shown to our room we were told our A/C had only just been turned on and need 1 hour to cool the room (this was by the manager). As the evening went on we discovered that our A/C was not working (cooling) and when we complained we were told someone would be out to fix later that evening. The following morning when we asked again (as not got any sleep) we were told that the person had come and the unit could not be fixed and in fact the A/C in that room had not worked for some time..When we asked why this had not been fixed before our arrival we were just told that nothing could happen because of the weekend, we then had to ask for a fan or a portable A/C unit (this was not offered or any or solution to our problem). This was the day of the wedding which started at 6pm, the fan arrived at 4.30.. as you can imagine trying to get ready in a room in 44c temps was horrible plus getting little sleep the night before ment I ended up missing 4 hours of the wedding as I was completely exhausted. The following morning my partner wrote a letter of complaint to the manager giving them the opportunity to "make things right" as we still had a night left in the property. The manager all the way through this situation was not easy to find as she never had a presence in the body of the home/hotel and even when another person in our group spoke to her later that day on our behalf she said "I have not been able to find them to talk to them" and then suggested we leave our room to spend the night on the sofas in the communal lounge as it had AC (of course after I payed for the pleasure of a room).....we had not left the building all day apart from using the pool which is outside the main doors.Anytime we would try and approach the lady she would keep calling the groom over and would not speak to us directly. The final day the manager took the groom to one side and said we would not have to pay the taxes for our room, he came and told us this, I chased after the manager and called her back and asked why she could tell us to our face, she said that she had no need to tell us as she she had spoken the the person who made the booking (the groom). That statement sums up the attitude of the Managment, as a manager myself I would have taken any opportunity to resolve and take responsibility if someone had a issue like we had, not hide away apart for demanding payment.Thank god for the wedding planner when it came to food as we payed extra then for them to deliver some lunches to us, we also hired a taxi to get us to the nearest supermarket (about 20 minutes away) to get water and soft drinks..In summary we have never been put into a situation in any hotel where they have refused to sell what they advertise and not even a drink to a small child or a pregnant woman. Please spend your hard earned money anywhere but here.

    A complete nightmare

    rating07 Aug 2017

We arrived here, around 3pm to attend a wedding the next day, staying 3 nights. We were given the Rifia room. The residence is well off the beaten track, nothing in walking distance. On face value it looks lovely. Due to the lack of care shown by the manager I am afraid the stay was ruined. Our room had no running cold water, electrical sockets and air conditioning not working. Days here go over 40 degrees. No air conditioning upstairs in the corridor added to an overwhelming heat. So we report the issues and the water is switched on from a stopcock in the wall, the electric is also connected. The manager adjusts our air con and says give it an hour and it will cool down. Over two hours go by and no reduction in temp. We make the manager aware and she says someone will come and look this evening, after work. The evening goes by and nothing has changed. We endure the worst nights sleep in sweltering heat, leaving wet sheets. The next day we approach her and ask what happened. The man came out the unit is burned out and won't be fixed for days. Ok so it would have been nice to have been told so we could ask for help last night. What is she going to do for a solution? Nothing. Instead we involve the groom to tell us what she has just said as a translation. The unit was not working. Store we arrived. We point out we need a solution, which we have to come up with, a simple fan would be a start. She then comes back with some Heath Robinson idea of a fan with ice - I will have to see it to believe it. Plus someone will be around after work?! Really? So sleeping, washing and dressing are intolerable and tonight is the wedding. By 16.29hrs a second-hand fan turns up - that's it. Moroccan weddings last until the early hours of the morning and were we going to have a decent sleep? No. The next morning I fill out a comment card and it is handed to her. The letter asks for a reply. She takes time to read it and, shame on her, she says nothing and avoids us all day. This reaction was typical. Although she was there to photograph the wedding to post on their Facebook page. The brides mother collars her and she says she has not spoken to us because she couldn't find us. The mother tells her to put beds into her room so we can get some sleep. This is done. The final day the groom is informed by the manager that we will not have to pay local taxes. Not the compensation asked for and could have been completely avoided if she was interested in giving help. My other half goes out to ask why she has not spoken to us. She says the groom booked the room so she would not talk to us!! Such shocking lack of care is disgusting. The lies and deceit was a revelation for us seasoned travellers. The bad taste also requires me to add that there is a general lack of cleanliness and maintenance issues. The towels were frayed and washed out, some friends complained about stains. Our shower cubicle was excellent if you are over 7ft, the controls were stiff but worked, unlike our next door neighbour in an adjacent room whose cubicle leaked. Without bath mats and hooks anywhere near the shower it still wasn't ideal. Rusting mirrors had seen better days. Outside tiles are loosening as the cement is worn. The parasols by the side of the pool should have been thrown away a long time ago. The lies spoken to us went further when we arrived. There would be no food or drinks sold during our stay. The wedding caterer had cancelled food so there is no cook during our stay. Despite only in the previous days a value on lunch was mentioned and a comment that only Moroccan. Food would be served. When trying to give notice the bride and groom were told too late on two occasions. Think of the money they could make by selling soft drinks? As indicated already we were isolated. Instead we had to pay for a taxi to go to the nearest carrefour. The wedding was special and a great spectacle , probably because the management had nothing to do with it. I would avoid this place like the plague if anything above resonates with you. I am not sure I would ever revisit Morocco following this experience.

    Simply beautiful....

    rating03 May 2017

We were very much looking forward to our break in Marakech, and chose this hotel as we have previously stayed in the Medina, and lovely as the Riad was, we wanted something a bit more secluded, whilst having the option to get a taxi into the city if we descided to .We arrived late at night , and were told there was an issue with the water supply, and so were taken for two nights to an alternative accommodation , this was very nice, but the hotel was not yet open , and we were unable to use the pool. Undaunted, we had breakfast, and spent the day at the Beide Country club, which was very pleasant . I would always advise travellers to make sure you have enough bottled water brief ore you leave the airport , as we would have been stuck for that first night if we hadn't come prepared . We were collected at lunchtime on the Monday and taken to the Domaine Tarik , which is as beautiful as we were hoping for . It is relaxing , lovely scenery, and very peaceful. The 9 bedrooms are beautifully decorated , we were given an upgrade to a room with a balcony overlooking the orange groves , Atlas mountains, and the pool area. The bathroom had a shower, and a bath, and the room was very comfortable . We opted to eat in each evening, you just need to let the English speaking lady manager know each day, and Said, who , mainly speaks French , (but never stops smiling), will prepare you a three course dinner. We really enjoyed the local food, it is tasty and freshly cooked . It is useful if you have some knowledge of French , as Most of the locals speak no or very little English . I am a horselover, and Monsieur Tarik was very kind and allowed me to have at our of his racing stables and meet his magnificent animals too. This is a place to reflect and relax , with the most beautiful , surroundings , and the sounds of the countryside, with the hustle of medina life just a taxi ride of 20 minutes (£25 return), away .Wi fi is not in rooms, but is free, and available in the salon, or front terrace .

    Beautiful

Recently spent a few days @ Domaine Tarik - simply beautiful - cannot recommend this place enough - if you want to sit back and take the sun in this is the place to go - lovely sun. Food was divine - mouth watering flavors - staff make you feel at home and always wanting to assist - very quiet and peaceful and if you are a horse lover they have their own stables :) only 20 mins from the airport about 200 Dirham and same to go to Marrakesh itself - Hotel Manager is always on hand to help and sort things out for you. Amazing big rooms. Recommend to one and all. Domaine T, Gérant at Domaine Tarik, responded to this review Thank you for taking time to write this excellent review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and hope you will be back to stay with us soon. All the best to youDomaine Tarik

The Ultimate Destination for Peace & Quiet

    rating27 Jun 2016

A most beautiful hotel situated about 20 minutes from Marrakesh, in the peace and serenity of its own orange and olive groves the perfect place to relax and unwind. The traditional décor of your room and communal areas ensures you relax in comfort and soak up the atmosphere around you. You can visit the racing stables on site, watch the horses out for exercise or having a shower! The food served here is of a high standard. We had all of our meals here everyday, you just need to inform the manageress Khadija that you're dining there for lunch or in the evening. Khadija will look after all of your needs with her personal attention and will make any travel arrangements including taxis into town. All of the staff are friendly and most helpful without being obtrusive. If you know a bit of French, that would be really useful! We needed 4 nights of peace & quiet away from the hustle and bustle so Domaine Tarik was perfect for us, but Marrakesh town is just a 20 minute taxi ride away. A beautiful 9 bedroom hotel with fabulous views of the Atlas mountains.
