Location

This hotel faces the mythic ramparts and luxuriant royal gardens of Agdal, an enviable setting in the red capital of Morocco. Just 10 minutes from the principal tourist attractions of Marrakech and its surroundings, the hotel is near the atmospheric Jamaa El Fna Square, the colonial quarter of Gueliz and all of the renowned golf courses. It is a 90-minute drive to the Ourika Valley, and Marrakech Airport is just 3 km away.

Facility

Guests have a choice of 236 rooms located in two 2-storey buildings with lifts. The reception desk is open round the clock. Amenities include a baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service and cash machine. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The resort has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. A fireplace creates a cosy atmosphere. A number of shops, including a supermarket and souvenir shop, are great for shopping or just browsing. The grounds of the complex feature a playground and a lovely garden. Additional amenities include a newspaper stand and a playroom. Parking spaces are available to guests travelling by car. Other services include a childcare service, a car hire service, medical assistance, a transfer service, room service, a laundry service, a hairdresser and a hotel shuttle bus. Bicycle storage is available to guests. There is a bike hire service as well. The business centre is on hand for guests' business requirements and provides a fax machine.

Rooms

Rooms are equipped with air conditioning and individually adjustable heating. Guests can relax on the balcony or terrace. All rooms are carpeted and include a double bed, a queen-size bed, a king-size bed or a sofa bed. Children's beds can be requested for younger guests. A safe and a desk are also available. Guests will also find a tea/coffee station included among the standard features. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a games console and WiFi (no extra charge) are provided as well. Slippers are included. Bathrooms are equipped with a shower and a bathtub. A hairdryer, a vanity mirror and bathrobes are provided. For extra comfort in the bathrooms, guests are offered cosmetic products. Wheelchair-friendly rooms can be booked. Family rooms are available for parents with children.

Sport

The freshwater pool complex includes indoor and outdoor pools, which are in part heated, as well as a children's swimming area. Guests can treat themselves to refreshing drinks at the poolside snack bar and a relaxing soak in the hot tub. A short break or an entire afternoon on the sun terrace, which features sun loungers and parasols, is time well spent. A variety of activities are available at the resort, for example tennis, bocce, beach volleyball, volleyball, crazy golf and archery or, for a fee, cycling/mountain biking, golf and horse riding. Guests can enjoy a wide range of indoor sports, including a gym, table tennis, badminton, callisthenics and aerobics. Various wellness options are available at the resort, including a spa, a sauna, a steam bath, a hammam, massage treatments and a solarium. Guests of all ages have the opportunity to enjoy a fun entertainment programme.

Meals

Dining facilities include a breakfast room and a bar. The restaurant has air conditioning and high chairs for children. Catering options include bed and breakfast, half board, full board and all-inclusive. A continental breakfast buffet guarantees a great start to the day. At lunch and dinner, guests can choose between a buffet, à la carte and a set menu. Staff are also happy to provide children's meals. The resort offers a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

    Beautiful hotel, but opposite a very loud nightclub

    Beautiful hotel, incredible pool area and lovely staff.However, this was overshadowed by our room being opposite a nightclub. This played extremely loud, unbearable music until 2am every night which meant it was very difficult to sleep, if at all!A real shame - everything else was brilliant but tainted by a severe lack of sleep. Unfortunately due to this, we would not return. We are constantly looking into ways to improve the soundproofing of our rooms to better protect our guests from external noise. For future reference, we always encourage our guests to notify the reception if they encounter such issues, as we do our best to relocate them to a quieter side of the building, such as our pool-view rooms, whenever availability permits.It is a real shame to lose the opportunity to welcome you back, but I appreciate your honesty as it helps us understand the gravity of this issue for our visitors.     I stayed at this hotel for a week with my partner for a mix of a relaxing pool holiday and some tourist activities. Let’s start with the positives: the hotel is on lovely grounds, it was very clean, there were plenty of loungers and day beds around the pool and there was a good atmosphere whether you were there with your partner, family or friends. It was only 10 minutes to the city centre. I did have a couple of issues with the hotel. One was that it was 30 plus degrees most days and still warm at night but the air con didn’t go any lower than 20 degrees - we raised this with the hotel and were told they couldn’t change it because it doesn’t go any lower at this time of year. My partner explained that I am 5 months pregnant so need to sleep in a cool room and they then said they’d send an engineer, but that never happened. There was also a smell of bad drainage in the room which we did report but all they did was come and spray air freshener. One night we ordered room service and the left overs were sat outside the room for over 24 hours. There was no iron in the room which I thought strange for a “5 star” hotel. One thing that bothered us the most was an interaction we had with the concierge- we wanted to do a hot air balloon ride which included pick up from the hotel, breakfast, an hours ride and then drop off again, he confirmed this was 2000 dhr (roughly £85 each) we handed over the money then my partner asked him to confirm it was safe for pregnancy. He said he thought it was but called to check and was then advised that they couldn’t take us due to the liability involved. He didn’t immediately give us the cash back, he tried to sell us other trips. My partner came to check with me and then we went back to run through details with him. We were interested in a trip to the Atlas Mountains which included a private car there and back but you had to pay for lunch and a guide separately if you wanted to walk to the waterfall. I asked him how much this was and he said same price as the balloon ride. I said I wasn’t paying that as it wasn’t worth that give it was just a car there and back and didn’t include lunch or a guide. He then slammed the money down on the desk but only gave us half of it (1000 dhr) my partner asked where the rest was and he made excuses and then reluctantly handed over the rest. If you do stay here, bear in mind it may not meet your expectations as a “5 star”hotel. If you do any trips and are booking through the hotel, be sure you check the price online as well so you know you’re not being ripped off.
