    Absolutely amazing

Beautiful place! I went with my partner September 2024. The staff were super welcoming and took our bags to our room. I honestly can only say positive things about our stay there, from the room to the breakfast and the staff, everything was beautiful. We will definitely be coming back soon.

Nice Hotel -- not enough services

    rating09 May 2019

We stayed here for a week -- last few days of April and first few days of May. The hotel was clean and the rooms were spacious. The pool was nice but not heated so cold! There were very little services i.e. restaurant was only one set meal in the evening (around 160-200 MAD) which we found expensive and virtually no choice. To be fair the hotel had changed management in March and they were probably just starting to set things up. There was also a spa and you could also have a massage but again very expensive compared to other places in Marrakech. To do anything you had to take a taxi, the hotel was helpful in finding you one but you always had to negotiate which became very tiresome. Approx 100 MAD for a ride into Marrakech town. There was a free ride with the hotel once in the morning around 10.30. That was possible but the return was too complicated. There is absolutely nothing around the hotel to do so you do need to organise activities, the wifi was not very reliable and slow. We did manage to find a local restaurant 1.3km away which was reaonsably priced because it is also where the locals go (around 80 MAD per head). The breakfasts at the hotel were fine (fresh orange juice, croissants, chocolate rolls, bread, eggs, fruit, pancakes, coffee etc) this was fortunately included in the price of the stay. All in all if you want to be able to do things and not just stay in the hotel you need to be closer to the town BUT it was peaceful and quiet. I am sure they will improve the restaurant side once they get themselves sorted out.

Lovely hotel - very poor service

    rating17 Apr 2019

We stayed for 5 days for our 5th wedding anniversary. The hotel itself is lovely, and the housekeeping staff kept it very clean. We had a room (205) away from the road which was surprisingly quiet. The huge problem was the service. If the service had been poor throughout the stay, then this review would simply state that the staff needed some training. However, halfway through our stay, a group of VIPs arrived and the service/food choice/staff availability significantly increased. This was quite annoying - as it proved that the service could have been better from the start. It is important to note that this is not a terrible place to stay, as long as you only sleep there. Many of the reviews are quite good (which is why we chose this hotel!) but in fairness the pro's /cons are as follows:Pros-The hotel is large spacious and clean - very clean. The housekeeping staff do an excellent job. The Spa staff are also very friendly and helpful, we enjoyed an excellent Hamam, scrub, massage - would highly recommendThe rooms are large and we had a nice terrace with a lovely view of the mountainsThere is a free shuttle to the town centre - but at specific timesCons-The rooms are not soundproof!! It's not the hotels fault that some guests are noisy, but the sound around the interior of the hotel echoed throughout the corridors. We were kept awake by the buzzing of next doors fridge! On our first day we asked for a map of the area. We were promised one for the next day. We asked every day and still did not get one.The hotel seemed almost empty whilst we were there, but there were very few towels available by the pool.We asked for breakfast in the room on our anniversary. It didn't arrive. When we went down to have breakfast in the restaurant room we checked this and they said we had booked the breakfast to be eaten by the pool. We were quite clear with this but when we went to the pool area there was nothing set up anyway!!The food choice at breakfast was always the same - in the fact that it was almost always empty. We would often have to stand and wait for plates, cutlery, glasses etc... which meant that we couldn't actually have any of the food that was already running out by 0930.The main menu was limited and often had items missing - we ended up eating out of the hotel 4 days out of 5.We would often see many staff members from our balcony but when we went down to the restaurant/bar we would have to ask reception to ring them for service. The music played at breakfast was questionable. We appreciate all types of music - but rap music talking about m*****f*****s and n*****s with children at that time in the morning is probably not right? The service in the restaurant was awful, there was only 1 person serving about 3 tables but he couldn't keep up. When the VIPs turned up they were being offered food 'off' menu - i.e. baked eggs etc... I would have gladly paid extra for this - but we couldn't get anyone's attention to ask!The bar ran out of all fizzy drinks and beer by our second day (it wasn't us!) and was only partially refilled. Surely if your guests are drinking all of the coke - buy more in. We ended up going to the nearby supermarket to get supplies. The WIFI stopped working on our second day. This was annoying but gave us a chance to read etc.... However, when asked about this at reception we were told it was the whole area. We walked 5 minutes to the local garage where the WIFI WAS working so we could check our flights in.When we asked the hotel to organise us taxis it was always more expensive than a taxi we hailed ourselves - were they taking a cut?The hotel taxi was not available when we wanted itWhen we tried to check out and pay our bill we were told that due to no WIFI we couldn't pay by card. We took a detour on the way to the airport to get money out to pay the driverOverall, this hotel has potential - just not for a relaxing holiday whilst we were there kadoujaa, Gérant at Palais Jena Hotel & Spa, responded to this review Bonjour , Avant tout merci pour les avantages cités de notre hôtel .
