  Citadines Lille was perfect for my last leg of my France trip. They were renovating the building and rooms when I was there, but only during the day, so did not effect me whatsoever. I stayed in a recently renovated room and it was perfect! Huge double studio room with kitchenette with all new appliances. Staff were amazing. Location was perfect, connected to the Westfield Shopping Centre right next door, walkable to main train station/Eurostar and walkable to the other main train station and city centre.

  Thank goodness we are going today

  Very convenient location. We expected it to be quite basic and impersonal, so not a surprise. What was a surprise was the extensive refurbishment works. If you’d told us we would have booked somewhere else. The noisy work starts at 8am and goes on until after 7pm. Both lifts are wadded out with plastic and constantly in use by workmen so you have to wait a long time for lifts. I’m in a moon boot so can’t do the 6 flights of stairs. And the hall is full of concrete rubble. Really unsatisfactory as an experience but the lack of communication is very poor.   Building works ruined this stay.

  We arrived at midnight and were pleased with the hotel and location. We thought it was a bit strange that the lift was covered in protective covering. We were woken at 8am by horrendous drilling. A nice girl at reception was sympathetic and said we should have received an e-mail which we hadn’t. She moved our room. We packed everything up and went to the next room which was as bad. We had to carry all things back downstairs then to be given our third room - where we could still hear constant drilling.I looked on Booking.com and then booked direct with the hotel. There was no advice of building works on Booking.com or through the correspondence direct from the hotel nor on the hotel website. I would never have booked a hotel with building work. The builders are working directly in the hotel - using the lifts to carry up equipment hence them being covered up. We were advised that the builders work seven days a week and shouldn’t be before 9am - they were working at 8am both morning and still at 6:30pm.The manager accepted that we had not been told about building works. We asked for a partial refund but were refused and offered a free breakfast….not good enough.   Nice apartment but stay ruined by renovation

  The apartment was well appointed but major renovation work was being carried out during our stay. We were subject to excessive concrete drilling noise and construction noise from check in for 3 hours. With this work the lifts were overtaken by the work access. The issue was no warning of the severe disruption li prior to stay or at check-in. An alternative room was not available and an unapologetic staff."   Does what it says on the tin

  Felt more of a basic low end 3 star but I guess the location trumps any negatives. Right near the stations (Flandres and Europe) and a short walk to the old town, shops, casino, cafes and restaurants walkways. Rooms are spacious but interiors are basic and on the cheap side. Expect mould in the bathrooms and chipped finishings. For a one night stay it did the job and was not expensive.
