The front desk staff is not friendly. Very hard demeanor. Ouch! Won’t stay here ever again. Try to be happy for the next guests.

    What a dump!

    rating07 Jan 2025

What a dump. Worse place to stay in all of Salida. Over the years we have been fooled into booking here several times due to the low prices, but every time we regret it. Once it was filthy with hairs on the pillow, mold in the bathroom and stains on the sheets. Another time we were booked next to several rooms of college parties with smoke from cigs and marijuana wafting from the rooms nearby and loud music until 2am. Our last experience we booked a room and then cancelled within the stated full refund period, and yet they took our money and dishonestly refused a refund. Avoid this place at all costs. There are a ton of great places to stay nearby, but this one is gross, loud, and dishonest.

    Clean, cozy and comfortable

    rating18 Nov 2024

Human kindness abounds in Salida, and the Loyal Duke did not disappoint. When my friend had a medical emergency in the middle of the night, the staff let her overstay our visit so she could rest. The pool and indoor and outdoor hot tubs were fantastic. The rooms were clean, the beds oh so comfortable and the morning coffee plentiful. Definitely intend to return. (Hat tip to Anna Mae for congeniality above and beyond the call.)

    A Good Choice

    rating07 Jun 2024

While this well-maintained older motel is on the well-travelled State Route 50, the town of Salida, about a mile off the thru route, is well worth visiting for its eateries and riverside charm. Try “The Boathouse”. The motel is clean, the beds comfy, and the free full breakfast a good value.

    Great Place

    rating22 Mar 2024

Place was great. 30 minutes to Monarch Mountain. Rooms were clean. Staff was very nice. Pool/Spa area had their own towels. We didn’t bring any pets but I appreciated how many folks had their dogs. My only suggestion would be a bit more options for breakfast, but that’s it. Will be back for sure.
