Loved it. In the middle of the Medina, but in a silent street, very safe. . Very silent, very clean, very cozy, It felt like home. Zacharia and Selima are amazing hosts always available and with a smile on their faces. Breakfast was excellent. I will return.

Nice riad, fabulous staff but overpriced

    rating01 Apr 2023

The brothers who manage the riad, Ahmad & Aziz are lovely, polite and helpful guys. They were informative, helpful and made mine and my friend’s stay very easy for us. I had pre booked transport via the riad but our driver was not waiting in the arrivals lounge with the name of the riad on it and we were hanging around outside where the drivers congregate walking up and down round and round. I spoke to Ahmad who was insistent the driver was there but he definitely was not. We spent about an hour waiting for him to arrive and I saw the guy walking from where the cars park so that is an hour we wasted. Our room was very small which I knew when I booked, however the photographs on Booking.com are very generous… It was perfectly usable for our stay but I would not have wanted to spend longer periods of time in it. There was sufficient storage for our needs but if you have larger suitcases, I have no idea where they could have been stored. The lighting was good, which is a bonus in a riad. Our bathroom was one of the best I have had in Morocco as it had a good working shower, plentiful hot water and powerful with an opening window in there to clear the steam. The thing some people might not like is that it does not have a solid door, just a curtain. Not an issue for my friend and I. The riad is simply decorated, not pretty and opulent like others I have visited. It would have been nice to have Moroccan lanterns, tea lights and burning fragrances to enhance the tranquility. Although there are several comfortable and pretty areas to sit and relax in and read and sample some of the food and snacks readily available from local vendors. We had no issues with WiFi. Breakfast was typical Moroccan fare, plentiful but not varied at all. Very little fresh fruit, 1/2 sliced banana between 2 on most days other than 1 day when we had 2 sliced strawberries. And the yoghurts were nasty sickly sweet fruit flavoured. Probably the worst Moroccan breakfast I’ve had over the years I have been travelling there. I do feel the riad is overpriced as there are plentiful more authentic riads owned and run by Moroccans rather than Europeans and better priced in the vicinity. Would I stay again…possibly… but I would not specifically seek it out.

    Basic

    rating26 Mar 2023

I spent 2 nights at the Riad les 2 Portes, the Riad it was very easy to find coming from L19 airport bus and heading from the Jemma el Fna square. I was welcomed into the Riad and offered some mint tea.The room was very small almost made me feel claustrophobic as the room didn’t have windows as such, it had a tiny solid wood window which opened out to a seating area. The room was very basic, double bed which was soft and comfortable, aircon, a small table and wardrobe and tiny bathroom with shower. The room on arrival only had half a toilet roll, and the hot water only seemed to come on either early in the morning or later in the evening. The wifi was decent. The breakfast was okay, not as good as the other Riads I stayed in. I felt the room was over priced and should have been about €35 per night. Overall it was a good stay for the location, but out of the 3 Riads I stayed in Marrakech this was my least favourite.

Little riad nestled in the Medina

This quaint little riad is a stone's throw from the Jemaa El-Fnaa. Friendly English-speaking staff. Mint tea served on arrival. Delicious breakfast! Rooms were basic but very comfortable. I only stayed one night but would have easily stayed more.
