Nice little well kept riad designed and mantained with great care.

    rating15 Nov 2024

Nice little riad, with a very traditional and elegant decor, without being too opulent or heavy, as some moroccan properties sometimes are.Everything is kept quite simple and the more local decor details are subdued by the use of whites and dark wood furniture, which adds a certain old colonial feeling.Staff are minimal but nice and efficient. Front desk guys do it all, and speak good english. Breakfast is very nice. Location is quiet and walkable (for a frequent traveller to Marrakesh is very convenient, for new travellers may be a little scary in the beguining, but once you find it's absolutely safe, you're more than OK, and with plenty of taxis nearby). The pool is very small but the patio is nice to relax, and the rooftop area is quite nice with two small turtles around. Spanish owners were not in the permisses (not in july, nor in april), but local staff is always in contact with them. You'll have to pay in cash or by previous bank transfer, because cards are not accepted.

    Not worth the cost

    rating26 Mar 2024

Severely disappointed in the cost to value ratio for what you can find in Marrakech. I could list several items that were broken or dirty, but the kicker was waiting 15 minutes in the rain outside after 10pm because there was no one to answer the door — yet they won’t give you a key to get in. Don’t bother staying on the first floor; it’s super dark and noisy with both the buzzer at night and then people eating directly in front of your window in the morning. jose bernal, Dueño at Palacio de las Especias, responded to this review Hi Your review is not in line with reality and you know it. Fortunately, our clients and the excellent reviews we receive daily discredit your review, a review that oozes a gratuitous nastiness that we do not understand. Our riad offers a 24 hour reception service, a personalized service to serve our guests. We do not understand why you want to have the key to our hotel, it is strange don't you think. When you say that you waited in the street for 15 minutes, the truth is that we do not know, neither us nor the security camera that is at the entrance. When you say that you found broken things, we don't know what you mean either, our facilities are in perfect condition, before, during and after your visit. Finally, a pity we could not talk to you personally to ask you why you put a comment that far from being constructive, is a comment full of malice that surprises us and we do not understand why you invest so much negativity when you know perfectly well that it does not conform at all to reality. In any case, if writing these things full of negativity and bitterness make you happy, that's fine by us, just what we want in our Riad is that our guests are happy. Everyone chooses their own way and style to find happiness, if this is your way, we respect it and we hope you feel as good as you deserve.Luckily, we are supported by the love and great reviews that our dear guests share of their stay with all our followers; customers who record beautiful videos that prove that our Riad is a jewel in the middle of the medina. It is for all of them that we continue to work and thank them for their confidence in us and our daily efforts.Sincerely

    It's not worth the price

    rating01 Sept 2023

We were very excited about living in a riad, but this particular room was very small for the price we paid elsewhere that was better and cheaper. Another less expensive place and closer to all the monumentsThe room had no TV or coffee machine, and it lacked basic comforts, like extra blankets. The water wasn't hot all the time, there were times when it would be cold so it wasn't pleasant to take a shower.Overall - average experience, but not worth the price paid. Also, this Ryad ad is difficult to find, it is located on a small street. jose bernal, Dueño at Palacio de las Especias, responded to this review First of all, we are very sorry that your stay in our hotel was not to your complete satisfaction, but we would like to clarify several things taking into account that our Riad has 569 (5-star reviews) and only 3 (two-star reviews like your own review)1. Our riad, like all the riads in Marrakech, are located in the medina in small streets, but ours is one of the few that can be reached by taxi since it has a taxi rank just 100 meters from our hotel, at the door of the souks and a ten-minute walk from the Jmaa el Fnaa square, a completely central location in Marrakech2.The room you chose was one of the smallest in the hotel, but taking into account that our prices in August were very reduced, you could have chosen one of our spacious suites at a very good price.3. There is no television in our rooms (but on our website we do not offer that service) since we believe that the experience in a riad does not need it at all, there are many other chain hotels where you can enjoy television.4. We also don't have a coffee maker in the room and we don't offer it on our website either, as we have 24 hour staff who will be happy to make a coffee or anything else at any time (next time, make sure the hotel has a TV, coffee maker or minibar in the room before booking...)5. Finally, we do not think that in August in Marrakech you need blankets to sleep, but in any case we always have blankets in the closet as well as heating in the room in case you need to turn it on, plus our staff will be happy to offer you all the blankets you need. Dear guest, the next time you have a problem at a hotel, we think it is better to let the staff know so they can solve it at the moment instead of doing it several days after check out.We are very sorry that you do not talk about the good things about our hotel, such as our wonderful staff or our great breakfasts among many others and that makes the majority of our guests say only good things about us.

    Your home in Marrakech

    rating18 Jul 2022

This property is not a hotel but your home in Marrakech. Nice areas where you can sit and relax, have a meal or just a drink. Rooms in the first floor are a bit compact. If more room is needed or you're a taller person, rooms upstairs are a better choice. The staff is incredible. Helpful and always ready to give you some insights from the city if asked for. Breakfast are amazing. Fresh made every day. Location is also excellent. Not too close to the Medina but not far either, it gives you some peacefulness after a long day of walking.
