    Lovely stay

    rating21 Jun 2024

The Riad Pourpre is hidden away in a small walkway. We booked via Secret Escapes and were really happy. We were welcomed with the traditional Mint tea. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. They showed us the sites to visit as it was our first time in Marrakesh. Breakfast was goood and well enough. The room was nice and clean. The bathroom had a lovely shower. On the top was a place to sit and see the Marrakesh sunset. I specially loved the bathroom door, so oriental. We were very happy to stay there. Everythign we visited was in walking distance. Thank you for being so welcoming and helpful.

    WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

    rating09 May 2024

0/10- appalling We arrived at 10pm although check in was 2pm as we had a late flight and our room was not ready. We had to sit and wait. The room was damp and dirty, we had dead woodlice in our beds and woke up covered in bites. I understand this cannot be helped but also dead cockroaches in the pool to add to the list. The so called cleaner came in our rooms and moved our things around daily but no cleaning was done, on my second to last night I left two silver rings in my room whilst attending a day market for 4 hours and on my return they were not there. Most staff were rude and ignorant, one morning for breakfast we got directed to sit on a cramped two person table even though we were guests of 3 people. The manager also was not helpful, in fact extremely rude resulting in her putting the phone down on me. Main issue: my rings have not been returned! The only redeeming quality of the hotel Smail. O- he was very helpful on our stay, the hotel is a poor reflection on this one man’s service.

    Not a good choice

    rating02 Apr 2024

Nice stuff but the location is not safe, not clean and the goat smell is very intensive. In the bathroom, the wall was broken and one of the 2 washing tables not working. Towels colour:Grey (intended to be white). At the entrance, 2 motorcycles blocking the way. We had to cross them over for going in and out.

    A Great Time!

    rating17 Feb 2020

This riad was absolutely amazing. The rooms themselves are very nice and the beds are super comfortable. The bathrooms are also really nice. It's just far enough to be quiet but close enough that you can get to the Medina via a short walk. It has a nice terrace up top which is great to hang out in at anytime.Mohamed himself was also a great host and set us up with everything we needed to explore Marrakech! He was very responsive and accommodating to our needs.I would certainly recommend this riad to anyone who's interested in staying in the Medina and wants a clean, quaint and comfortable place.

    souless & sad place

    rating03 Feb 2020

The Moroccan tradition is to receive guests with a good mint tea, but not in this riad. Mohamed, the employee in charge, makes a point of negotiating tours immediately, saying that otherwise you won’t have a place and the city is extremely dangerous. For negotiating, understand: tariffs up to 10 times higher than those practiced locally. When proposing dinner, heated in the microwave, he says that there is no restaurants in the neighbourhood and charges 15 euros for a sad and tasteless meal. For 13 euros, by the way, it’s possible to make a delicious and homemade menu in a great restaurant just 3 minutes away (Dar Tazi). Once in the freezing room, when there is water, it is charged. Television never works. Breakfast is made only with low-quality industrialized products and not homemade, as expected in a traditional riad. In addition, it is possible that it will not be served, as it happened on one of the days: at 8:15 am there was no one at the hotel! So, to sum up, don't expect help with maps, transportation or sincere recommendations - they won't come!
