Cosy and quiet lodging deep within the medina

    rating18 Mar 2016

A cosy and really quiet lodging, located deep within the medina, in a true Moroccan-style inner courtyard. Very homely and warm. Most interesting turist spots nearby. Excursions and transportation can be arranged by the staff. Wifi available. Staff only speaks French.

Great value for money in this central location

    rating12 Nov 2015

The Riad Prestige Evanescence is a no frills accommodation and excellent value for money. This Riad suited our needs as we went out in the morning after a continental style breakfast and returned late evening for a good night's sleep.Alexia your host is a wonderful French lady who just wants to please you whenever you appear and although we did not use the service, she is an experienced Masseuse, also she will prepare an evening meal for you, both can be arranged with her. She speaks very little English but if your mobile has a 'Translate App' then that's perfect, she also translates using her laptop. The Riad is inside the souks so no taxis or long walks to get there but we recommend you arrange with her to be collected at the airport by their driver (20 euro's) as the Riad would be very difficult for you to find on your first visit (email is prestige-evanescence@hotmail.fr) Although inside the busy souk area, her Riad is down some passageways just a few minutes away from the buzz. There is no safe in the room or reception but your valuables will be fine as will you, we felt quite safe wherever we walked at any time but you will be pestered to buy off every stallholder.Things to do - Eat in the evening at one of the stalls at Jemaa El Fna square. Take the tour bus around Marrakech, 2 routes, same ticket. Visit the metal working and tannery souks, amazing. Finally, enjoy Alexia's hospitality she is a lovely person and of course enjoy this Riad's perfect location.

    Peaceful location, treated like family

    rating23 Aug 2015

If you are looking for a luxury hotel this is not the place for you, however if you are looking for somewhere warm, welcoming and friendly then consider this riad. Staying here felt more like a homestay than a hotel, we were treated like family, which to us is much better than the boring chain hotel!!The woman running the place only speaks French, but we did not find the language barrier a problem. We would recommend contacting Alexia, the woman running the riad, to arrange a taxi from the airport, as this will ensure the first confusing trip into the Medina is made easy. The maze of small streets around the riad soon become familiar and easy to navigate, it's certainly part of the fun walking back to the hotel to pass all the stalls. There are only a couple of rooms that are let out to visitors, this meant we were the only guests during our stay and our needs could not have been better met.Breakfast is a late affair at the riad but is homemade and delicious! The bathroom to our room was small and enclosed, so it did get a bit warm and smelled slightly damp after a shower but Alexia provided incense and it was not something I considered a problem. The room was perfectly acceptable, it was smaller than you would expect in a hotel but it was cozy and comfortable. The babouches used to decorate the wall above the bed are a constant reminder of which city you are in.The roof top terrace is the perfect place to relax after a hard days souk shopping, with a distant view of the Koutoubia. It's also a good place to start the day with one of Alexia's great breakfasts. We also ate an evening meal at the riad, although it was a lot more expensive than the local restaurants, around 200 dhiram more, the dish was prepared especially for us and Alexia is an amazing cook. If you fancy a splurge meal I would recommend her chicken tagine.A lovely stay in a cute little location, would recommend giving it a go!

Strongly recommended. A wonderful, peaceful oasis in the middle of Medina, hosted by a French speaking woman.

    - Very well situated - very helpful by planing and organizing safe trips - makes absolutely sure, that the customer is satisfied with everything. - The Riad is very well situated a few steps to the bazar/souks and the big place

    Quiet refuge from buzzing Marrakesch

    rating27 Apr 2015

Once we've found it, we enjoyed the Riad as a quiet and relaxed refuge from the buzzing narrow streets of Marrakesch. there aren't many rooms (I think three or four) and thus the Riad is not very crowdy with people. Alexia, who runs the Riad, is a good host. She's there, if you need any information or advise and makes you feel at home. The rooms are clean and simple but tastefully decorated. The free Wi-Fi works properly in the courtyard, but due to the thick walls not in the rooms itself. Alexia is French and her English is almost as rudimentary as my French. But she was very patient with my efforts to speak French. If I ever return to Marrakesch, I'd certainly choose this Riad again.
