    A gem outside of Tangier.

    rating24 Jan 2026

Excellence all around. Restaurant, reception, housekeeping and maintenance. It was a joy to stay there. Beautiful views to the water and fully equipped Bosch kitchen. Better service than I’ve received in 5 star hotels. I will stay a full month in Spring after my two week stay in January.

Spacious apartment with all amenities. Noise carries from adjacent apartment. 15+ miute drive to medina.

    rating10 Dec 2023

This is like an apartment complex with rather large apartments. The "room" I got was an apartment with a kitchen, two large bedrooms, a living/family and dining room and a balcony with comfortable seating. The kitchen has everything, including a cooking range and a fridge. There is a small Bosch clothes washer as well. When you run it, it is loud, and sounds like a helicopter taking off. Although no dryer to dry the clothes. The service was awesome. The staff, mostly ladies, took my wet clothes and dried them in their large industrial drier in the morning.Sound carries. I could hear the guests in the apartment above me, talking and moving about late in the night. It is actually not the ideal location for a sightseeing trip to the Tangier medina since that is about 15-20 minutes away from the apartment complex.I has a bunch of smaller quibbles but nothing to dissuade someone else from staying at these apartments. While waiting for my clothes to dry in the morning, I was able to update a very receptive lady host what all of these little quibbles were. She was very grateful and eager to address the issues I brought up.The reasons for the 4-star rating versus a 5-star were the location being far from the medina, the noise, and the minor quibbles.

WARNING: Do NOT stay at this hotel. Once you were checked and they will try to blackmail you for more money. Horrifying

    rating20 Jul 2021

I am extending a FIRM WARNING, especially to Americans traveling to Tangier. When you book they will take your money up front and right before you leave blackmail you for more money and threaten to leave bad reviews which they will do making up embarrassing accusations to try to strong arm you into giving them cash under the table. They even tried to keep us from our room the last night making us go in this office where they told us if we paid them more money they would give us access to our items. It is horrifying the practices here and I would advise that anyone considering staying here as beautiful as it is do NOT as they will try to scam you. I’ve traveled the world for years and I’ve never ever experienced anything like this. It is horrifying. What I expect as a result of this review is they will write some crazy story and then contact me via WhatsApp asking me to pay them extra money to take it down. I had to pay them to be able to get my suitcases. Please know you should definitely not get in the situation of staying with them. This experience was unreal and I can’t believe they get away with this stuff.

Nice if you like to stay in the middle of nowhere

    rating16 Jun 2020

I stayed at the Mnar Castle for 6 weeks last October to November 2019. I thought it was lovely at first but after such a lengthy stay I observed some issues which would discourage me from staying there again. First, the hotel is in the middle of nowhere. There is one single restaurant across a busy road and a dining room in the hotel. neither one serves alcohol. There IS a shuttle, but there are limitations to where it will take you, only to a couple of places and getting them to pick you up is a challenge, you must phone the hotel to make arrangements and often they are not very organized.Secondly, the Hotel is crawling with young families. If you have three or four children yourself I guess you might appreciate that, but if you are a sophisticated couple or single you could be irritated by all the noisy families everywhere. The breakfast room, which serves a large buffet, (no sneeze glass, just buffet tables) is very nice but the young children touch all the food. Inevitably there will be screaming babies in there and some even ride scooters around the room, or race around the tables or lots of crying and shouting. If you are looking for a good nights sleep, be aware that a screaming baby might keep you up to the wee small hours. Thirdly, No soundproofing in any of the rooms. I knew whenever any of my neighbors was using the toilet at 4 am and I knew precisely what they were doing. Yikes!Fourthly, Do not ask the women at the front desk for suggestions on where to go in Tangier because they only know what is on the property. Horse riding, dune buggy riding and the odd bus tour. If you ask them about anything authentic they will send you to overpriced tourist spots. That's because they don't explore Tangier properly themselves. I had an episode with another Canadian couple on a trip to Chefchouen, the blue city. The girl at the desk booked us on a private car which was several times more expensive than the one we understood her to be booking us on. I paid the difference, but the other couple didn't pay and checked out early. The trip was a little spoiled for them. If you want info on what to see in Tangier, use the Internet and then ask the locals. Fifthly. Do not under any circumstances bring valuables with you to this hotel. There are no room safes and not even a main safe where you can store passports, cash, camera equipment, jewelry or watches. I had a pair of Chanel earrings stolen by someone entering my suite, possible a chambermaid? when I was out. I did tell one of the front desk girls about it and she was horrified promising me if I could remember the day it happened, the maid would be promptly fired. But I didn't want anybody to be fired so I didn't say.Sixthly. Although the main shuttle driver, who by the way spoke not a word of English or French, just Arabic was a pleasant and accommodating sort, the driver that filled in on his day off came on to me several times which I found disrespectful. I didn't say anything at the time because he had a wife and family to support but if you are a woman travelling alone, stay to the middle or back of the bus when he is driving. On a more positive note, I found the young gentleman who looked after the horse riding program incredibly helpful when I had a problem with a Microsoft word program on my laptop. I cannot say anything else but thanks a million you saved the day for me. The hotel is clean, beds are comfortable, maid service is thorough, grounds are pretty, but I believe it's better to stay near the center of the city where the action is and where you have choices. The lack of good English spoken at Mnar Castle also makes things a challenge.

Best option for families in Tanger

    rating01 Jan 2020

Super welcoming staff that will do beyond what is expected to please their clients. They offered traditional Moroccan sweets upon arrival, Guzlan was calling daily to check that everything was alright, and further more they gave us a new year stylish silver plated souvenir plate! Though simple furniture, with single no shower bathroom, but the apartment was very clean, with amazing view so we cant complain. Daily house keeping service. Breakfast is more than a brunch, and almost as heavy as dinner with many traditional options, freshly squeezed juices, and hot drinks upon request. The room has no safe box, but they provided us with one immediately when we asked. We reported at the end of our stay that we didnt like the pillows as they were hard, and they responded saying they would have been happy to replace them, if we have reported that! We stayed 4 nights, and we re booked with them one more night at the end of our trip as we could be happier.
