Location

This modern first-class hotel lies at the heart of Amsterdam, directly on Dam Square and opposite the royal palace. Scores of shopping and entertainment venues are located in the vicinity and it is just a few minutes walk to the historic old town that offers various museums and theatres.

Facility

The complex was built in 1865. 6 junior suites, suites, 35 apartments, 28 single rooms and 398 double rooms are located on 6 storeys and can be reached by lift. Multilingual staff (English, German, French) at the reception are happy to assist guests at the reception desk round the clock. Check-in and check-out are available 24 hours a day. Amenities available at the hotel include a baggage storage service, a safe and a currency exchange service. Wireless internet access (no extra charge) allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. The complex has wheelchair-accessible facilities. There are a number of shops as well. A garden provides extra space for rest and relaxation in the open air. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage (for a fee) or in the car park. Further services include a 24-hour security service, a babysitting service, a childcare service, a car hire service, medical assistance, a transfer service, room service, an alarm call service, a laundry service, a hairdresser and a coin-operated laundry. Cyclists can make use of the bicycle storage area and hire service (for a fee). A business centre with fax machine and projector is available.

Rooms

Air conditioning, individually adjustable heating and a fan ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. Rooms have a double bed or a king-size bed. Separate bedrooms are available. Extra beds can be requested. A safe, a minibar and a desk are also available. Additional features include a refrigerator and a tea/coffee station. There is also an ironing set and a trouser press. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels and WiFi provide all the essentials for a comfortable holiday. Guests will also find slippers in their rooms. Bathrooms are equipped with a shower and a bathtub. A hairdryer, a vanity mirror, bathrobes and a telephone are provided. As a special feature, bathrooms are also stocked with cosmetic products and a selection of towels. Some of the wheelchair-friendly rooms have a wheelchair-accessible bathroom. The complex has family rooms and non-smoking rooms.

Sport

Fine weather can be enjoyed on the terrace. The hot tub in the pool area promises pure relaxation. For those who wish to stay active while on holiday, the hotel offers cycling/mountain biking. The complex's location is particularly ideal for skiers. Sport and leisure facilities at the complex include a gym and callisthenics. There is a wellness area with a spa and a steam bath and, for an additional fee, a sauna and massage treatments. An entertainment programme and a casino round out the entertainment options.

Meals

Dining facilities include a restaurant with air conditioning, a café, a bar and a pub. Bed and breakfast can be booked. At breakfast and dinner, guests serve themselves at the generous buffet. Various dishes can be ordered à la carte for lunch and dinner. Diet meals and children's meals can be prepared on request. The hotel also offers special catering options.

    Lovely hotel and staff. Everything you would expect from a 5* hotel. Very central to everything. My only negative was the noise. We upgraded our room, which was lovely a spacious. However the room was next to a busy road and unfortunately there wasn’t any sound proofing in the windows so people party at the bars could be heard into the early hours which kept waking me up.     Horrible service and start to the stay. No help with bringing in our luggage from the car service through the hotel. Told it would take 20 minutes for our room, so we waited 30 minutes, and they called housekeeping to expedite the inspection. One hour later still no room. No baggage storage. Horrible start to our vacation.     Pure Magic at the Winter Garden

    A Birthday I Will Never Forget – Pure Magic at the Winter GardenI worked with KLM for many years in Montreal, and this hotel was one of our regular stays during training visits to Amsterdam. Ever since then, I had always dreamed of having breakfast in the beautiful Winter Garden.This year, on my birthday, I finally had the chance—and it exceeded all expectations. It was truly one of the most wonderful experiences of my life.From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Ramzy—what an absolute gentleman. His kindness and attentiveness made us feel instantly at home. During check-in, I mentioned that I was celebrating a very special day—my birthday—and that I was so happy to finally be there.As we enjoyed the incredible breakfast (the selection was simply amazing!), something magical happened. Ramzy and his team surprised me by singing “Happy Birthday” in multiple languages—so thoughtful and touching! He even presented me with a beautiful plate of chocolates with “Happy Birthday” written on it. I was truly moved—it made me feel so special.We were also wonderfully taken care of by Aida, who was attentive and kind, and we had a lovely conversation with Anthony, the busboy, who is studying medical research—such an inspiring young man.At the end of our visit, Ramzy personally walked us to the front door. There, we met Robert, who greeted us warmly and wished me a happy birthday as well. As we stepped outside, he actually came running after me to give me a small souvenir from the hotel.
