This tasteful hotel is centrally located in the cultural area of Amsterdam, opposite the renowned Vondelpark in the peaceful Oud Zuid residential area of the city. The historical centre is about 15 min away.

Facility

The hotel was built in 1879. Guests have a choice of 32 non-smoking rooms. English- and German-speaking staff at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Amenities include a cloakroom, a baggage storage service and a safe. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. A garden provides extra space for rest and relaxation in the open air. Additional amenities include a newspaper stand and a TV room. Further services and facilities include room service, an alarm call service and a laundry service. A bicycle hire service gives guests the opportunity to explore the surrounding area independently. A fax machine is available for guests' business needs.

Rooms

Air conditioning, individually adjustable heating and a fan ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. Most of rooms include a balcony or terrace as a standard feature. All rooms are carpeted and include a double bed, a queen-size bed or a king-size bed. Extra beds can be requested. A safe and a desk are also available. Guests will also find a tea/coffee station included among the standard features. An ironing set is provided for guests' convenience. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a radio and WiFi (no extra charge) are provided as well. A hairdryer and a telephone are available in the bathrooms, which are equipped with a shower and a bathtub.     Unfair reviews we had a lovely time.

    I don't normally leave reviews but would never book a stay without checking them out so feel compelled to step in here. My wife booked this stay and having booked with Booking.com we were unable to cancel after I subsequently read the most recent reviews. We were not looking forward to checking in. HOW WRONG COULD WE BE! Its a lovely building in a lovely neighbourhood close to the main park and the no 2 tram stops two minutes walk away and is a direct route into the town centre. The reception area is nice but under used. Apparently they used to offer breakfast but there was no call for it. Didn't bother us as there are lots of options close by and Amsterdam central is just a few minutes away on the Tram. Stairs are really steep but that is Amsterdam for you. Room was small but it was fine. Bed was comfortable and yes a few stains on hall carpet but it looked fairly new to me and, in my opinion, does not warrant the 'dont stay here' comments left by others. Obviously I can only talk for our room (47) but we used as a place to sleep and would stay there again without hesitation.

    This is not a cheap stay, yet the quality is extremely poor. The bed and pillows are very low quality and uncomfortable, the carpets are stained and dirty, and the staircase to access the rooms is awful and feels unsafe. Honestly it feels unpleasant even to sleep there. Thankfully our stay was short. I would never recommend this place to anyone. A property in this condition shouldn’t even be classified as one star, let alone have such a high rating here. Potential guests deserve to know the reality before booking.

    Literally the WORST place I’ve ever stayed. Filthy filthy filthy. The second you walk past reception to the hallway for the rooms you realise what a terrible mistake you’ve made. A door held open with a stained cloth, stained dirty old carpets, rotten floors and mould and filth. Hell.

    Why i rated this as 2 star plus, the room was very small, very dated, the only chair in the room was very dirty, bathroom was too small. The staff thou was very polite and friendly.

    My family of four have just spent 2 nights here the staff are rude and the room was nothing like the room we booked from the pictures on the website we booked with. The room was dirty with hair in the bed sheets, stained pillows, floors were filthy. Bathroom was awful the floor was falling through and there was no room to move in the bathroom. The pictures make the hotel rooms look bigger than they are and the hotel looks nothing like the images it’s so run down and smells of damp. You can book breakfast with your room but I would not recommend this if the standard of hotel god knows what the food would be like. The only good thing about this is location other than that I would not recommended anyone stay here
