Good hotel but a bad experience

    rating06 Jun 2026

The hotel is located by a beautiful park. The rooms were clean and decent, breakfast was good and atmosphere in general good. Only issue we had was being a group of women and witnessed an incident where a group of men shared a room and were taking turns going in to the room “sharing” a woman that seemed “out of it”. We let the staff know since it felt unsafe and they said they would send someone over and they never did. We did discuss with them the day after and let them know again. Other than this scary incident we were happy with the hotel.

    1. Hotel very expansive2. I book for group of 20 people for my company, Due to a mistake on the part of the hotel, the staff refused to provide breakfast in a very unfriendly manner, even though it had already been paid for (via RAI Hotel Service).3. The voucher next to the minibar mentions in very small print that the free drink is only valid at the restaurant. I find this way of misleading customers dishonest.4. After the check out, staff added drinks I did not take from the mini bar5. For dinner we were 15 peoples. We were obliged to take a full menu despite the most of people wanted light dinner.

Nice stay overall, but some improvements needed

    rating14 May 2026

Hotel is set in a lovely location being oosterpark, restaurant and bar area is nice too. They offer bike rental, umbrella rental and free lockers which are useful to hold luggage if you arrive before check in, or need somewhere to store luggage. We had to change rooms straight after checking in as there was a nail poking through the floorboards. Second room was much more spacious however there was an awful sewage smell from bathroom if shower/toilet was used. Our room was only cleaned once, you are advised to put the ‘clean my room’ sign out if you’d like your room to be cleaned however it was only cleaned once despite putting this out each day.We stayed in 225 and within this section there were a number of rooms being renovated, so there was lots of noise with construction being carried out. Not ideal being woken up by construction, however didn’t bother us too much during the day as we were out and about.Distance to centre of Amsterdam is a fair walk. Having been before and stayed in a different area, I’d suggest if you are planning on walking into the centre most days, stay somewhere a little closer than Hotel Arena.

    Wouldn’t stay there again

    rating11 Apr 2026

I’ll start with the staff are very polite after that it’s downhill. We arrived at 3pm and one of our rooms was not ready it was still not ready when we came back at 11pm we booked a super comfy which at 11.30pm when they changed the double to the twin we lost the comfy bed topper not super comfy anymore When we went to breakfast each morning we were told breakfast not included which it was and had to keep going to reception to sort also had to pre order gluten free bread as never had enough which in these days of allergy concerns seems mad also the room bookings were constantly under the wrong names Tv didn’t work after bed separated and when sorted either flashed Philips sign in the middle of the night or at 4.30am the radio kept coming on 😡We ask for room clean and at 5.30pm still not done had to ask but next day we said no and came back to find cleaner in our room ? Room clean didn’t mean emptying the coffee machine obviously as went to make coffee and ended up with machine overflowing with coffee leaking all over the desk I was charged twice for parking which was expensive enough and I had tried talking to the staff reference these issues and was told they would email the manager and well never heard back once it made our stay irritating and frustrating going on holiday is supposed to be relaxing not micro managing the hotel I would not stay there again staff were polite but never dealt with any issues to conclusion on anything

    Quirky rooms but impractical

    rating09 Apr 2026

We were two couples and we were all quite disappointed with this hotel. On arrival the rooms looked quirky and fun. However after spending the night in them we realised that they had been designed with style over practicality. Both our first two rooms had a mezzanine floor, ours with a desk and sofa upstairs and our friends with the bed upstairs. The stairs to the mezzanine in both rooms were very narrow and steep. Our room was very small downstairs with no room for luggage, so you had to lug any cases up the steep stairs, although this wasn't an issue as we only had small holdalls with us.The bathroom mirror was so high that as a small person of 156cm, I couldn't see my whole face in the mirror. The only sockets near a mirror were in the bathroom so I couldn't see properly to dry my hair. I had to ask for an extension lead to plug in upstairs and trail down to the entrance area where there was a full length mirror. This isn't really what you want in a hotel room. I asked if they had other rooms with lower mirrors but was told that all rooms were similar and were designed for the average Dutch person. The shower was without a door which wasn't a problem except that it leaked out into the area near the toilet. Our friends felt that it was a bit dangerous going down the steep stairs in the dark at night if you needed to go to the bathroom. In addition their shower ran into the whole bathroom so the floor was awash and was totally impractical. They asked to move rooms and were moved to one which was all on one floor. This room was fine for them but when I looked in it I noticed that the mirror in the bathroom was at a normal level so that I could see in it.So we asked to move to a similar room and were given the room next door. (Why had I been told all rooms were similar and didn't have lower mirrors?) This room was better with the lower mirror but there was a beam at the far side of the room positioned so that you couldn't get out of bed that side. It was also freezing cold, even with the radiator switched on.Also in all the rooms the double beds dipped in the middle, meaning we never had a decent night's sleep. As somebody who travels a lot these were the worst hotel beds we had slept in for years. So we wouldn't recommend this hotel for it's rooms. On a positive note, the breakfast buffet was quite extensive and very nice.It took us 20 minutes to walk from the hotel to the centre which we did every day and found very easy.
