    Would stay here again!

Charming and central location. Room for 3 was quite nice; bathroom very clean. Excellent breakfast!! Spoke with Lisa at front desk the most. All staff were friendly and helpful. Temp fridge storage, printing document, luggage hand-off to delivery service all worked out. Once and Not Again

    rating28 Mar 2026

Convenient location close to the central train station. When you walk in, it's confusing as to whether it's a hotel, café, or gift shop. It felt a little odd that they would sell things to the public from a hotel lobby. Staff were friendly, but we stayed 5 days and never saw the same staff twice. Early in the morning, the front desk staff needs to help in the breakfast room which was inconvenient when trying to check out or make arrangements. We stayed in the triple canal side and found it quiet during the week but noisy on the weekend, even with earplugs. Room was spacious, but nowhere to really sit except your beds and the carpet looked rough. There were two chairs, but since there were no wardrobes to store items, those were unusable for seats. Housekeeping on the first two days didn't clean the cups or provide new towels, but the last three days was better. Visible stains on the walls and dust on the floor, the toilet seat was broken, and the shower was small. Breakfast is in a small room at the back in a basement and the choices were limited and inconsistent. We saw chia seeds one day, but never again. For the room rate, there are probably nicer places to stay on a quieter canal. Hotel Manager, Owner at Hotel des Arts, responded to this review Hello Alycia,Thanks for taking the time to share your experience at Hotel des Arts. We’re glad you found our location convenient and appreciated the friendliness of our team. That said, we’re truly sorry some aspects of your stay didn’t meet your expectations. We always hope that clients will inform reception immediately of any housekeeping or maintenance issues they might have in their room so that we may remedy them during the guest's stay. For instance, we are sorry to hear that you missed the built in closet in your room for clothing and luggage storage. Our housekeeping and maintenance team is available daily to address any other in-room concerns immediately once the guest informs us.. We’ll review the breakfast variety to ensure more consistent offerings. Being a historic canal-side property, we do experience varying noise levels at different times, though we understand this impacted your comfort.Nonetheless, it was a pleasure having you stay in one of our spacious triple rooms, and we hope the central location made exploring Amsterdam easier during your visit. We'd be grateful for the chance to welcome you back. All the best,Lisa Marangi, Assistant Manager

Lovely, friendly, affordable hotel in the heart of Amsterdam

    rating27 Mar 2026

Highly recommended. The location is excellent beside a canal in the centre of Amsterdam, yet it's affordable. The staff were very helpful and friendly at all stages, including when we arrived at around 9pm and needed a taxi for 7am to get back to the airport, even coming into breakfast to tell us when it had arrived. The room was clean and comfortable with a good shower in the bathroom. Being in one of the old, traditional houses, there was no lift and we had to carry our cases up several flights of steep stairs, so probably no good for the disabled pr those with young children. Breakfast was good with some cooked and plenty of cereal, fruit, yoghurt etc.Overall an excellent choice! Hotel Manager, Owner at Hotel des Arts, responded to this review Hi Chris! Thanks for taking the time to comment on your visit to Hotel des Arts. It’s fantastic to hear you had such a brilliant stay with us.We’re delighted our team could assist with your early taxi request and that you found your room comfortable. Your kind words about the breakfast selection are much appreciated too!We regret any inconvenience caused by the stairs. As a historic building from 1733, we strive to highlight the charm of our architecture while acknowledging its limitations.Nonetheless, we’re thrilled our central canal-side location added to your Amsterdam adventure. Exploring the city from our doorstep is always a highlight for guests. We hope to see you again. All the best,Lisa Marangi, Assistant Manager

Centrally located, beautiful hotel in heart of Amsterdam!

    rating03 Jan 2026

The triple room with canal view is amazing! Very centrally located but still quiet. You can view the canal and main street from your room. Stayed here for new year’s eve and it was incredible! the interiors were also spot on, very clean and relaxing. The breakfast is also amazing! only downside side was that there’s no elevator but the stunning view and overall stay and experience is definitely worth it, outweighing the carrying of luggages!! Hotel Manager, Owner at Hotel des Arts, responded to this review Hi Justin! We appreciate the time you took to comment on your visit to Hotel des Arts.We are very happy that Hotel des Arts made your New Year’s celebration so memorable!Your kind words about the canal-view room and peaceful atmosphere mean the world to us. It sounds like the mix of lively surroundings and cozy tranquility was just right for your stay! That said, we’re aware the stairs can be a challenge in our historic building. We’ll keep your feedback in mind as we continue balancing heritage charm with guest comfort. Finally, our team is thrilled you soaked up the vibrant energy of the area; nothing beats being steps away from Amsterdam’s magic while still offering a quiet retreat. We love that our breakfast added some sparkle to your mornings, too!We hope to see you again very soon!Lisa Marangi, Assistant Manager

Once in a life time, and never again.

    rating02 Oct 2025

One star for location, one star for very friendly staff at reception. Apart from that lots of downsides: Payment for the entire stay upfront without having seen the room. The room to the front was spacious, acceptably equipped but very noisy due to traffic on Rokin day and night. Don’t expect much sleep in the rooms at the front. Two single beds pushed together with soft and worn mattresses. Housekeeping service was rather limited, visible fungal stains in the shower, toilet seat loose. The breakfast room is small and dark in the basement. Breakfast choices are very limited. The room rate of just below 500 euro pr. night is completely disproportionate to what you actually get. This is a tourist trap to keep away from.
