Location

This hotel is located in the centre of Amsterdam and over looks the eminent Rembrandtplein. Scores of museums, galleries, theatres, cinemas, shops, restaurants, canals, bars, nightclubs and casinos are all easily reached on foot. It is just 4.5 km to the airport. The Kalverstraat shopping street is a 2-minute walk away. Guests can reach Dam Square in a 10-minute walk or catch one of the trams at Rembrandt Square: From here they will have direct access to Amsterdam Central Train Station. The painter Piet Mondriaan lived and painted in this hotel between 1904 and 1907.Examples of Mondriaan's paintings can be seen on the walls throughout the hotel.

Facility

Guests can enjoy the pleasant ambience of one of the 36 rooms, 9 single rooms and 25 double rooms. The friendly staff at the reception desk are happy to answer any questions.     The steep steep stairs!!!

    The stairs... nobody warned me about the steep steep stairs 🤣 and no lift. The hotel is really dated and in need of modernisation, especially the hallway areas and stairs carpets. Bed was comfy enough, room was suitable for storing bags and sleeping. Bathroom average. I wouldn't return based purely on the stairs as my partner is disabled and struggled a lot. Perfect location though. Right next to tram stop. Lots of shops and coffee shops and restaurants around, everything within 20 mins walk.

    Basic budget hotel but not very accessible

    Budget hotel overlooking a busy and bustling square. Very steep stairs to get in and our room was tucked away under the eaves and accessed by a fire escape and yet more steep stairs. Not one for disabled visitors. Staff lovely, friendly and helpful. Handy base and a place to lay our heads at night.

    Old hotel yet enjoyable stay...

    Although a really old hotel that definitely needs to be renewed (apart from the lovely, already renewed bathroom in my room) it was clean, with new towels left in my room every day and my stay was most enjoyable. The staff was really nice, polite, the service was really good and breakfast very simple yet tasty and most certainly adequate, served in a small, cozy room overlooking Rembrandtplein. The 3 stars I give is because of the fact that it is a very old hotel, but for my stay, overall, I would give it 4_5/5.

    Great location, very noisy at night

    I emailed before I arrived to ask for a room without going up lots of stairs( I read other reviews) it was no problem and we were given room 2 , small double with own bathroom, tv didn't work, basic room,desk with chair , room is right above the bar below so very loud until what felt like 3 or 4am, we stayed 2 nights so no sleep all weekend, location is great, tram to central train station is every few minutes right outside, shops, coffeeshops etc just a short walk away, fridge in room and we were charged €2.50 for a bottle of water. Great for a base but I wouldn't stay in that room as far too noisy.
