Don't plan to sleep if you stay here

    rating16 Nov 2023

I tried to have realistic expectations of this stay given we chose one of the cheaper hotels in Amsterdam, but we were still seriously let down. The staff was indifferent at best and definitely not helpful. The room was dirty with grit everywhere and seriously in need of a deep clean. The worst part by far though was the constant noise all night long. DO NOT STAY IN ROOM 8. The window does not seal completely and the drunken tourists screaming all night long kept us from having more than an hour of sleep at a time even with earplugs. The one upside is I never got jetlagged on the way home because I never slept enough to adjust to the new time zone. Also note that the stairs are extremely steep so if you aren't able-bodied or have heavy luggage I would avoid this one. I would definitely not stay here again and would willingly pay at least $50 more per night to get a nicer hotel.

    RIP OFF

    rating11 May 2023

Worse customer service experience of my life. Refused to allow us to leave when an older member of our family couldn't safely navigate the stairs. Charged $1700 for 3 nights. Only refunded 1 night when we asked to leave after the first night. Busy season, were easily able to rebook but chose to charge us anyways. We had to relocate elsewhere. Never spent $1700 on a room not even as nice as a hostel before and STILL had to pay to stay somewhere else. RIP OFF. Don't care about safety of guests....all about the money. Unfortunate. Felt capitalized and preyed upon.

Great staff. Simple, clean, efficient and convenient.

    rating14 Apr 2023

For staff and service this is 5 stars, a small hotel that cares about guests. 24 hour desk which made us feel safe with our family. Also for cleanliness I'd give 5 stars, clean sheets and towels plus toiletries, our room had a modern shower with hairdryer too. If you want a budget hotel with basic facilities that is close to all the tourist sites and easy for the airport this is perfect. Do not expect anything fancy - but if you want simple, clean, efficient and convenient then this is for you. Our teenage children can confirm that the wifi works very well too! Our room was on the top floor with great views.

    Never Again

    rating25 Jul 2022

Was there between the 18-21 July 2022. my room on the 4th floor, no lift. dangerous stairs. No air con in room I had to leave the window and door open at night to let air in and the constant noise until 4-5 am.Single bed was smaller than usual. Bathroom facilities ok. Wifi was poor and intermittent. Three nights €392.00, not worth it.

    Budget saver

I first stayed in this hotel about 40 years ago. On a recent visit to Amsterdam in a very busy week I discovered I had been scammed into booking a dormitory room with 7 other people. After walking around for some time I found this little old place. Walking in I was offered a bargain rate and in Amsterdam most hotel rooms are small and not very well presented, I happily took the room, yes the stairs are old school Amsterdam steep. I returned at 1:30 AM to discover the sports bar next door was pumping out music and one of the speakers was about 12 inches from my window. Being philosophical I thought it would be better to have some drinks in the sports bar rather than lie down behind the speaker. Luckily I had 1 drink and the Sports Bar closed at 2 am. The location couldn't be better. Other budget hotels around Leidesplian are very similar. If you want upmarket pay for something upmarket,
