    Beautiful Stay in Amsterdam

    rating04 Jun 2026

A gem of a hotel. Beautiful room and surroundings. There is a very nice bar and the on site, vegan restaurant looks to be excellent. The breakfast was wonderful and very reasonable. The staff was fantastic. The location is very convenient to very walkable neighborhoods.

    Meh Hotel, Great Location

    rating10 May 2026

We had a wonderful time in Amsterdam but found the restaurant staff to be incredibly inhospitable. On the first night we came in for a night cap and one of the servers made a comment about us still being there, despite it being 45 minutes before closing. He also kept trying to make his coworkers laugh by pretending he was gouging his eyes out with a pen. It made us feel really unwelcome. Our room was somewhat disappointing in that the AC wouldn’t cool the space. The coffee machine didn’t work well and the refrigerator ran hot. Housekeeping didn’t clean the surfaces that our spoons had rested on, and didn’t restock the coffee or replace the towels after the second night. Our first morning, I went to the breakfast while my partner slept in and wasn’t greeted upon my arrival - I sat down and waited, not understanding the process or situation, and was eventually approached rather aggressively asking for my room number. I provided it and she just walked away - no explanation about the offerings or anything. We felt so uncomfortable with that interaction and the one described above with the bar staff that we opted to skip eating at the hotel restaurant, and went other places for breakfast instead. I really was excited to stay at Mercier but would say selecting that hotel and that “junior suite” was one of the worst decisions of our trip. Having just spent several nights at De Durgerdam, we were really disappointed by the lack of hospitality and quality of stay. The location was wonderful but I think we either could have spent much less and had a similar overall experience, or spent the same amount and experienced a mid-luxury stay, which was the expectation at $700/night before tax. At the end of the day, the hotel photographs we’ll but don’t live up to the hype. C’est la vie!

Quiet location close to Amsterdam sights

    rating05 May 2026

Our travel agent booked this for us. It is within walking distance of canals and the Central Square. It is about 30 minutes walk from the train station. It is clean and quiet and the breakfast buffet was good.. The bed was very comfortable and the AC worked, as the window was not operable. The bathroom is different in there is a toilet room and a shower room. The Shower room did not have a door, which I would have preferred.

Delightful boutique hotel, centrally located, with excellent pleasant and helpful staff. Ideal for a short city break.
